Trends of Learning Styles through Technology

By Carl Schmeil

While technology will continue to grow, it will also continue to advance at the academic level as well. The infusion of computers started years ago back in the 80, and is still pushing people to use them more and more frequently than ever. Even if you call for the use of the graphing calculator in the daily classroom, there is still the fact that many standardized tests don’t even allow for calculators. There is a constant need and desire for teachers to have more and more technical equipment. This has happened for years with T.V., radios, Telephones, internet, calculators, projectors, and much more. This will continue to happen for years to come.
This trend will continue to grow at a rapid pace as more and more studies are done on the effectiveness of technology in the classroom. It will give kids a better medium to discover how they learn and what works best for them. Yet ultimately for every student who responds well to technology, another will not. There needs to be balance and social skills to be developed in the classroom for many students. So while we might see more and more classrooms implement technology, at the same time there must be teachers who can explain things to students on a one on one level.
This topic has brought us to the realization of the needs of different styles of students. Almost every student is capable of reaching a potential they never dreamed of, but without a good teacher to help them discover how they learn, they may never do so. We need to balance technology with greater compassion, understanding of the science behind how students learn, and technical competency of how to teach using these more advanced technical means when the funds allow us to do so. Different students learn at different paces, and as technology develops, out students will develop

Future Leadership Traits

...The Evolution of Leadership style of the new generation. In a global study involving 389 leaders from 28 countries, The Centre for Creative Leadership (CCL) found that 83% of the leaders surveyed believe that the definition of effective leadership has changed in the past five years. These changes to leadership styles can be attributed to a combination of issues including a shift in people’s attitudes as well as advances in technology. There is an imperative for leaders of organisations, including HR Managers, to plan ahead and adapt to the movement of these evolving trends to ensure the best outcomes for their organisations. The move has shifted from Authoritarian leaders who believed in top-down management, strict rules and exact orders, to a progression into white collar careers with more individualised thinking and individual ownership over tasks. It was here that participative leadership styles settled in, and this style is now one of the most common leadership styles in contemporary society. Changes in leadership styles can be seen across Asia-Pacific too as a Harvard Business School Professor explains that, “As Asian companies seek access to world capital markets, they will move toward professional managers who will employ leadership styles more akin to those now used in the United States” . The participative style of leadership management is where the group is central to the decision making process, and not the leader alone. The work environment is more flexible and...

Rise of Social Media

...can no longer be imagined. Indeed, a man of the 1960’s wouldn’t probably believe being told that it would be possible to instantly connect with any person on the planet, or to access any information accumulated by mankind, staying at home. Half a century ago, letters were written with a ballpoint pen, people spoke only by phone, and contacted through telegraph for urgent messages. Today the rate of information transfer from one point to another planet gives the opportunity to learn the news almost instantly, overcoming thousands of miles, not only from the network media, but also from each other. In addition, the huge amount of information contained in the network, makes it possible to gather almost limitless knowledge (Brockman 52). Many people have forgotten when was the last time they took a dictionary or encyclopedia from the shelf, because one can find the answer to any question on the Internet; for this same reason, public libraries have moved to background (Brockman 3). Although, people still mostly prefer a hard copy of fiction just as they did 60 years ago, often, it also involves mediated communication to the Internet through downloading an electronic edition to a pocket e-book with a display simulating the real book. Internet also gradually replaces out of our lives other models we are accustomed to, such as radio and printed newspapers (Mcmillan and Morrison 75). For example, a broken TV now would concern an average person much less...

...The Future of Information Technology in Business Overview Every aspect of daily life is impacted and supported through the use of technology. The healthcare industry, education, national security, and organizational infrastructures are connected, monitored, and managed through the use of technology. Nearly every human has access to a piece of technology. Even in remote locations around the world, technology is being used to bring people together (Macintyre, 2011). The workplace has also been significantly impacted through the adoption of technology. In a recent study published by the Corporate Leadership Council (2013b), globalization, economic change, and consumerization have created new realities for the workplace. These realities include the need for greater interdependence, frequent organizational change and flexibility, greater knowledge intensity, and more technology choices – all of which can be managed through the use of technology (Council, 2013b). With this increased demand for technology services worldwide, the information technology sector is projected to grow by 22% between 2010 and 2020 (Lockard & Wolf, 2012). In response to this demand, a higher percentage of college graduates are expected to earn a degree in the field of information technology and enter the workforce. The NACE Class of 2012 Student Survey Report (Koc, 2012) indicated computer science majors ranked highest - at 69%, to most likely to get job offers. The future success of organizations...

Finally, the evolving global roles will be analyzed. Motivation, Means and Mentality As well-known leading clothing corporates, Zara and Benetton both choose to expand aboard. Although their motivations to internationalize are quite similar, their means and mentalities are different in many ways. Basically, there are two kinds of motivations: traditional motivations and emerging motivations. The biggest traditional factor that drives Zara and Benetton to expand aboard is market-seeking. The former CEO of Inditex, Jose Maria Castellano, pointed out that the limited market growth potential in domestic market was the main driver for Zara to go aboard (Martinez, 1997). In 1988, Zara opened its first overseas store in Oporto, Portugal as the first step to occupy global market (Lopez and Fan, 2009)....
