...Something Nobody Knows About Me It was another summer holiday and after a year of studies. Personally I had more to look forward to, than just the holiday. I was the winner of a fully paid trip to the southern coast. Everyone envied me and wished they would be in my shoes for a moment. But as for me, it was a different case. Unlike the excitement and joy that people celebrated for my win, I really regretted for participating in the competition, because I had a problem with the prize. My course instructor was excited very much, since she was to accompany me for the trip. I knew she was particularly eyeing the huge sum of money that would be allocated to us on the day of the trip start. Word went round the school and the neighborhood about my achievement. I approached the school authorities and expressed my desire not to take up the trip. They argued that it will be an insult to their sponsors and that I had to go regardless of the situation. Personally I did not want anything to do with water. I was water phobic. I had attended psychiatric lesson to try and end my fear for water. Everyone talked of how fun a holiday at the coast will be, but the single thought of having water around me freaked me out. I came to learn that we had been booked a hotel suit on one of the islands. This was getting even worse. The reason why I believed water was only safe in a glass was the story my mother narrated to me about how we lost my dad in the sea. She told me how I fell out of boat when...

Case

...Case Study – Effective Communication: Partnership in Italy Melissa Chang was asked to travel to Venice, Italy and meet with her company’s partnering company. Preparation for the trip was stressful. Not only had her colleague cancelled their recent trip to Moscow at the last minute, making the US partner look bad, but the Italian partner had made several requests for information which none of Melissa’s colleagues had fulfilled. She learned all of this information upon making phone contact with their office to confirm her travel plans. After that initial phone call, Melissa was not looking forward to the trip. She felt that her company had not upheld basic business standards, and adding a language barrier to the equation did not make things any smoother. She was very hesitant to make the trip and felt very guarded. She knew her Italian counterparts were frustrated and she could relate to their feelings. However, she also had a job to do – get more work out of them. If things did not get cleared up quickly, they could potentially loose the partnership. Melissa dreaded having to be the one to deliver that piece of news. Once in Venice and face-to-face with the partners, Melissa quickly realized their source of frustration. From their perspective, the US partner had not upheld their end of the business deal by providing some basic product information. Melissa had that information with her and easily provided the files. She was able to answer all their questions...

Trip to US Making a decision is hard, especially for this kind. But, like I said, I don’t have any choices. I have to go for myself, my child and my whole families. After comparing services and doing some researchers, I finally chose one agency and paid them 3,500 peso one-time fees. Term 1

...My variety of different experiences will help me contribute to the diversity in the Physical Therapy Program.  One of my experiences that really stand apart from others is my participation in a mission trip to Honduras.  I joined students from the University of Connecticut Health School to provide free healthcare to inhabitants of small villages and cities in the area.  The trip taught me the importance of providing healthcare to poverty stricken areas and the effect it can have on the communities. The experience also really cemented the importance of being tolerant of different cultures and areas of the world. You need to be truly passionate about providing a better life for the people that come from less fortunate circumstances, but also understanding of their ways of life. If you are doing something just because you think it looks good and would benefit yourself; your goals become very transparent and those you are helping can tell right away you aren’t really there for them. There was no greater feeling then seeing the smile on the children’s faces while we worked with them to get them better or the clear look of thankfulness on the people who will never take what we provided them for granted.  I would love to have the opportunity to provide physical therapy to similar areas of need, which I can successfully contribute to the program at MGH IHP.             I have also had different experiences relating directly to the field that have all been quite diverse.  My first...

The House of Hope

...time that I have applied leadership and an immense amount of communication is when my family and I head down to Mexico on a missions trip. Once a year we pack our bags and head across borders driving a total of 16 hours, going into the heart of Mexico we drive through Chihuahua City arriving at a little town called Anahuac. Inside Anahuac is an orphanage called “Casa de la Esperanza,” it is filled with laughter and a second chance for kids who never got the attention and love they deserved. This orphanage has roughly 40-70 kids a year ranging in size, age, and backgrounds you would never wish on anyone. Hearing some of these children’s stories and where they came from would never reflect on who they were on the inside, all these kids want is love and friendship and they would quickly give it back. The very first time we arrived at Casa a lot was going through my mind, since this was a new experience that was out of my comfort zone. I felt times like these really help expand and push limits of leadership and communication that benefit and support a community in need. Casa is truly an amazing place that focuses their vision not on themselves but on the neighboring community, they supply and conduct food drives, medical exams and taking care of whatever else needs to be done in the town of Anahuac. After hearing what was expected of us in this trip I knew I was going to thrive and truly help make a difference. Casa takes in these children...

So Much Water so Close to Home

...So Much Water So Close To Home Raymond Carver This short story by Raymond Carver is about this man called Stuart. Stuart lives with his wife Claire. The story is told from Claire, and her perspective. In the start, the story takes place at a river, some miles away from Stuart and Claire’s home. At this river Stuart and some of his friends, is out for a real man trip. They are fishing, drinking and doing all, of such things men does on a trip like this. In the middle of this trip, one of the men finds a dead body of a girl, in the river. They do not call the police, because they will not ruin the trip. So they decide to call the police after the trip when they was about to go home. Stuart comes home and telling this story to Claire, and that’s really where the story takes start and the action first begins. Shortly after this we can see, that the real action, is about, Stuart and Claire’s relationship, and how Claire is. The settings in the start are at a river, miles away from Stuart’s home. It’s not described very well, but I have an imagination, at how this place the men is at, is a normally place in a forest near a river. Maybe there is a bonfire place, with some stones around it, and they are sitting there in a circle. Otherwise the story takes place several different locations, there isn’t described very much in this short story. A characterization of Claire: In the text, it appears that Claire is mentally ill. It is only, if you read the whole story, it makes sense...

Describe How To Make A List Research Paper

...Every year more than one-third of Americans (35%) take a vacation somewhere around the world. Unless you just pick up and leave you are going to need to pack to make this trip more enjoyable, but along with packing comes stress. From personal experience I find packing very overwhelming but with a little help it can be a quick and easy process. Start off with making a list. Creating a list can ensure you don't leave out and important items that could cause any stress when arriving to your special destination. List clothing, toiletries, accessories, electronics, and some things to do when you have down time. Firstly, you should start with the clothing you are going to pack; clothes that will make you feel comfortable in a warm environment. If you are going to go hiking make sure you bring lots of tank tops and shorts and along with that tennis shoes so your feet are comfortable. If you are going to go to the beach or hang around pool side make sure you bring lots of bathing suits. Bring extra so when you are at the pool or beach the other pairs could be air drying back at the hotel. For going out to dinner pack more casual because when you are at the beach you don't really get dressed up. Men can wear button down shirts and Women can wear dresses....

Troy Missouri: A Short Story

...Have you ever felt as if you were living the dream? That anything bad in your life just disappeared? That’s exactly how I felt on June 1st 2015 in Troy Missouri. The sun was shining down on me as the wind blew at just the perfect speed, in which made my hair spin as if I was in a tornado. And at this moment I knew my life was perfect, and nothing could change that. But I guess I thought a bit too soon, because before all the paradise came the 13 hour long and painful car ride. The car ride felt like a never ending lecture from your parents. And the worst part about it was that there was no amazing scenery on the way there, so all you could do was stare at long fields of green and brown hills. After 13 long hours of nausea and suffering my...
