It’s all a lie. Everything that Tristan knows about his early childhood and birth is a lie. Tristan Thorn is just a simpleton from London, England. He soon discovers his life is not as normal as he has once thought. The brave and courageous Tristan, as well as the friends he meets along the way, travel beyond the wall of ordinary world to a land beyond the guarded wall. This story line is guided by Joseph Campbell’s study of the Monomyth Theory, the claim that nearly all myths have an abundance of similarities and the hero's journey are almost identical.

The storyline should have Tristan meeting with a mentor, according to the Monomyth Theory. As a result, Tristan learned about his past from his father. His father met his mother across the wall, and they fell in love. Tristan’s mother was a slave to a local witch that spent most of her days at the marketplace. This is where Tristan’s parents met. Months later Tristan came along. His mother couldn't keep him. Tristan was taken back to the ordinary world on the other side of the wall to live with his father. His mother left him a note to explain all of this. She gave him a babylon candle. Tristan uses this to transport to where he is thinking …show more content…
Tristan must find the star and save her from being killed by the witches. These witches try everything to trick the star into thinking she is safe with them, when all they want is her heart. This is the supreme ordeal. If the star is killed, Tristan will lose his true love. When suddenly the hero saves the girl, next comes the reward. In other words, he gets to be with his love. Tristan saves the star from being killed. Both Tristan and the star confess their love to each other. Following the chaos and panic of the star being captured and rescued, they begin the Monomyth Theory´s next step, the road back. Tristan begins his journey back across the wall to fulfill his promise to Victoria. He gives her some stardust from the star. This is not good enough to please her. Tristan remembers the star was coming to the wall. If she crosses the wall the will turn into dust. As soon as he realizes this, he races to the wall to stop and save her yet
