Pre-Marital Sex

The seminar we had last March 15 is a must see to all teenagers. Nowadays most teens indulge in pre-marital sex. Some do it out of curiosity, some urge by sex drive at an early age and some triggered by peer pressure. It’s so sad to know that as a catholic country in which we value the sacredness of marriage, a growing number of teens are getting pregnant every year. It’s very alarming because the youth is the hope of our fatherland! Government says sex education is the answer but is it really is? I believe that being well educated about sex is not an answer. But thus chastity education is! Teaching sex education doesn’t guarantee that these number of teens will be lessen for it will only lead teens to be more curious about sex which eventually push them to doing it. Condoms, pills and other contraceptives don’t guarantee either. Worst, it can give you diseases. However if chastity education is being taught in school and most specially at home, teens will learn how to value what they have and their abstinence will be strengthen. Waiting for that right time is really worth the wait! For in that right time you’ll find yourself be with the person you truly deserve. If your love one insists in doing it, say “NO”! If he truly loves you, he’ll wait. The seminar really opened my eyes on the pros and cons of pre-marital sex and the consequences you’ll face in indulging it especially at an early age. Always remember that darkness can only hide us from people but it can’t hide us from God. God sees all.

Say “NO” now and be bless throughout your lifetime. True Love WAITS!

Think, Feel and Do: I ♥ You

...THINK, FEEL AND DO: I ♥ YOU “True love waits”. And to simplify this briefly, there are three steps on how to prepare in engaging ourselves in relationship. First, solve unresolved problems. Forgiveness and acceptance of one’s failure must always stay in our hearts so that we can move on from our past. Let your rejection be your key to be a better person. Second, stop believing in the “right person myth”. Looking for the perfect one for us is never true. We may feel deeply in love to that person but as we grow day by day with him/her we will meet lots of his hidden attitude that we don’t know yet. Lastly, start becoming the right person. Take the effort and discipline to be the person, the person you’re looking for. Instead of thinking of having our ideal partner for the future let us think also the other way around, molding ourselves to be like the person we are looking for. I Corinthian chapter 13 verses 4-5 said “Love is PATIENT, love is KIND. it does not ENVY, it does not boast, it is not PROUD, it is not RUDE, it is not SELF-SEEKING.it is not easily ANGERED, it keeps NO RECORD of WRONGS. It always PROTECTS, always TRUSTS, always HOPES, and always PERSEVERES. LOVE NEVER FAILS...” In other words, love is not an easy act it is “sacrificial”. Therefore, before we enter in a relationship we must know first our priorities and ready ourselves in taking that tract. In addition, we must also discern well on what vocation we will pursuing for the future. We must preserve our whole...

Love Through Harship

...English 11.4 20 April 2012 Love Through Hardship Love through hardship is a reoccurring theme seen in many different types of art, whether it’s a movie or a painting. Love through hardship is even seen in everyday life. Tim McGraw’s poem “Don’t Take the Girl” is a prime example of love through hardship. For example, “Stranger came and pulled a gun, grabbed her by the arm said “If you do what I tell you to, there won't be any harm,” and Johnny said "Take my money, take my wallet, take my credit cards here's the watch that my grandpa gave me, here's the key to my car, mister give it a whirl, but please don't take the girl” (McGraw 1) This song shows that even through adversity love prospers and defeats tribulation. Furthermore, when a man or woman says something like this for their significant other it shows how much they love and care for them. Another example is when Time McGraw says, “Doctor says the baby's fine, but you'll have to leave 'cause his momma's fading fast, and Johnny hit his knees and there he prayed, take the very breath you gave me, take the heart from my chest, I'll gladly take her place if you'll let me, make this my last request, take me out of this world, God, please don't take the girl” (McGraw 1). Love does not fade when things get rough. The man in the poem is willing to sacrifice his life for hers, and that proves that love flourishes through all travail. That’s why “Don’t Take the Girl” by Tim McGraw is a perfect example of love through hardship. In...

...supposed to love&support you throughout your lives. These are the people you have some of the best times with, that will never ever be forgotten. Family is Staring down at this photograph from Christmas 1999 brings back so many memories. My whole family looks so happy. all of us bundled up in our big jackets from the cold weather outside, sitting by the fireplace, all looking like we just love each other, we are so glad to be around each other celebrating with each other, and it is so noticeable we all care for each other. We were so glad to just all be able to spend this day with each other. I remember this day so well. I look forward to this day every year! Christmas night is always celebrated at my Pawpaw’s house. My grandparents were divorced, so we always celebrate our Christmases separately. I love Christmas with my grandma, but I just cannot wait to go to my Pawpaw’s house that night! He always cooks the best meals. For a white man, he can cook a pretty mean Mexican dish of any kind. Mexican food is just part of the tradition! It would not be the same without it! Other than his awesome food, he always gives the best presents, of course. They may not even be the nicest gifts in the world, but they are all sentimental. We always get a box full of chocolate covered cherries and a pack of snickers. Now tell me who would not love that? Then he always throws in something for each grand kid that he knows can relate to them. Like myself for example, I love country music...

Wise Judgement

...is this teenage girl Michelle who states that she is “in love” with her 17-year-old boyfriend. Her boyfriend is encouraging her to have sex with him saying that he will make sure they only have “protected” sex. The questions that come to my mind is what exactly is protected sex and how does she know she really is in love. At this age, do young adults really understand the true meaning behind love? There are five components of wise judgment and they can be applied to this scenario to understand what is happening and what can be done to help her understand how serious this situation can be. The first component to wise judgment is factual knowledge about matter of life. In this situation, does Michelle really understand what is at steak? This is similar to The Death of Ivan Ilyich when he states “What is the right thing?“ (Tolstoy, 2243). If not she should understand that correct information about protected sex. Even if someone has protected sex does not mean they are one hundred percent safe. Everything that is available for protective sex has warnings printed on them. Just because someone is in love does not mean they have to have sex. On the other hand, if Michelle was not ready and understood what can happen if she does give in to having sex with her boyfriend then she would be making a wise judgment. Then Michelle could tell her boyfriend that if he truly loves her then he would respect her decision and could wait for her. However, in life today to may young adults are...

Odysseus and Dante

...Odyssey by Homer in 800 B.C.E. are about true love, great journeys that are different but in some ways parallel and end with them back with their true love. Both Dante and Odysseus have a woman who waits for them and in their travels must search themselves and make the right choices to get back to them. Odysseus longs to be with his wife Penelope and Dante to be with the woman he wants to marry Beatrice. Both men are very much love the woman in their lives, go to their own hell and back and can think of nothing other than finding their way back to them. Beatrice even after death has a spirit that is very much in love with Dante. She has faith in him, and asks Virgil to guide him through hell to bring him back to her. As written by a professor in psychoanalysis, "Dante the voyager through this arduous voyage, a voyage that initially descends into ever deeper, ever more terrifying levels, is the love of and the love from two people: Virgil (his 'Psyche') and Beatrice (his 'Eros')" (Szajnberg, N. M., 2010). Dante travels through hell with Virgil's guidance to find his Beatrice that is lost on earth after suffering an early death. Dante's Inferno does not tell a lot about Beatrice but does show her deep love for him and that she will do what it takes to be with him again. "For I am Beatrice who sends you on; I come from where I most long to return; Love prompted me, that Love which makes me speak"(Inferno). Penelope is very much in love with Odysseus even if he has been away...

The Connection Between Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet

...Romeo was ready to drink the poison. “ Wait, I shall kiss thy lips before I drink my death.” Romeo lips touched Juliet’s. When Romeo’s lips touche Juliet’s he felt her move. Romeo moved away from Juliet in bewilderment. He looked down at her to see her smiling up at him. “ Oh, my sweet Romeo you came for me.” Juliet said in a sweet voice. “ Of course I would never leave you, but I must ask, how is it you live?” he asked with confusion on his face, but love and hope in his eyes. “ I had Friar Lawrence put me in a deep sleep till you could come to me my love.” She said as her thumb rubs his check back and forth smoothly. “ I could not marry someone when I am both married and in love with another.” Juliet says looking lovely up...

Is It Worth Waiting?

...Is it worth waiting? Sex has completely filled our world. It is becoming harder and harder to remain true to one’s beliefs and values. Specially, concerning teenagers, it seems that everywhere we turn there is temptation and more reasons to succumb to desire. The pressure is high, but it is then that we must remain true to our convictions. Traditional and conservative wisdom states that a couple should wait to have sex until the nuptial vows have been uttered. Many teenagers believe that religion is the only force stopping us from having intercourse. Personally, I don’t consider myself a religious person, yet I agree with the idea of waiting until marriage. My reasons are simple: health, safety, and emotional distress can be saved if we remain abstinent throughout our adolescence. My generation seems to have a wrong idea about sex. It is not bad or dirty; it is a very beautiful thing, and prolonging it will only make it the more special and intimate to share with one’s partner. For all intents and purposes, sex is a physical act first and foremost, and because of this, it comes with many physical health hazards that could define our future. Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) statistics show that on a global level, “1 in 4 teenagers contracts an STD/STI every year”. Diseases like Herpes, AIDS, Chlamydia, and Gonorrhea could change your life forever, making it impossible to ever have sex again. Condoms are only 97% effective and therefore, cannot guarantee protection from...

...I love you for whom you are and not what you are. So be assured that my love for you is beyond all that I sees around you, I love you then, now & forever. We fight. We make mistakes. We disagree. But it doesn't change the way I feel about you. You're all I could ever wish for. Loving you was my only choice and decision through determination, so, don't take it for granted and again, don't play with my heart. The first time I saw you, my heart recognized you. It got warmed by your flame and now it's so hot waiting for a cool message from you. I love you so much. My Momma told me the greatest thing to learn in life is to love and be loved in return. Will you teach me? Sometimes my eyes get jealous of my heart. Know why? Because you always remain close to my heart and far from my eyes. 1. We never know how this closeness has started. We will never know how it would end. But whatever happens, when our closeness is gone, I will never forget how you made me smile once in a while 2. I had been believing that there is a paradise beyond the skies. But now I realized that heaven is just right here on earth, because what would an angel like you be doing here if heaven is somewhere else? 3. We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love. 4. What I Need

...Could he be my true love, or can others not accommodate true love that is not there own? This has been brought to me so suddenly. Is there someone else out there, someone who I will truly love? Why has such conflict come upon me? Should I agree to marry him, or wait for someone who may never come? Now it seems almost inevitable that I will be engaged to Paris, an arrangement of love, and one that I may not agree with. But there is nothing I can do, I would never dream of defying what parents think is best for me, and for another boy that may never come. For now, I feel my love has been assigned to Paris. I must go to the party, where I am to meet my supposed true love and dance the night away. (After the party) Tonight I have found true love. Not arranged or forced, but love at first sight. Romeo. I name I will remember forever. He was so perfect. But, like any other good match, it will never work. For he is a Montague and I am a Capulet. Two extreme differences, ones so extreme, we may never be together unless our love is secret. Yet another conflict brought about into my life. My love has been given to a Montague, because of this our love for each other may never be accepted. There are now two men, one who I love truly, and one who I should rightfully love. Should I defy my parents, go behind their backs and love someone who I should not rightfully love? Or should I go with Paris, a respectable man, accepted by my parents but one whom I do not truly love. What is more important...

The Sacrament of Waiting (Reflection)

...“Anyone who has loved knows how much waiting goes into it – how much waiting is important for love to grow, to flourish through a lifetime.” The homily of Fr. James Donelan is over all a piece about the beauty of waiting. It explains not only about waiting on the simple things in life such as waiting for the meals to be served or waiting for our first job, but it also expounds about waiting as a bigger aspect such as waiting for your true love or waiting to say goodbye. He first explained that everyday is filled with little moments of waiting. Then, he tells us about current philosophies about seizing the day for life is short that would actually have us forget the need for patience and the need for waiting. That kind of philosophy may apply to other people, but he explains that if we never learn to wait, we people will never learn to love any other person other than ourselves. He then connects his homily about waiting to the aspect about love. He showed us the beauty and what we can benefit and what we can lose if we wait for whom we love. He tells us how to find out if someone is worth waiting for through our gut feel. Also, he tells us the difference between “hoping” and expecting” – that hoping means you’re open to whichever side and to whatever happens & that expecting means you’re definitely waiting for something to happen. Lastly, he ended his homily with 2 things: what you can rely on with waiting – your own gut feel, your heart, and your mind & questions to ask yourself...

Every Sunday I would go there for breakfast and Sunday church. My Popop would always do the strangest thing and cut up his spaghetti to the point where he could eat it with a spoon.
