The main point in the beginning of the book and the movie is that True Son doesn’t trust the white people and views himself as Indian. In fact, True Son hates traveling with the whites to Pennsylvania that he tries to kill himself by eating poisonous substances, But his white relative stops him. When he first gets to his relatives house, he doesn't speak to them, which gives his family a bad impression of him. Some of his relatives he has learned to trust, but others he hates very much. He finds love with a servant girl, who refers to herself as a slave. He goes back with his Indian tribe until he finds out that they are out to kill the whites and their children.
In both the book and the movie True Son doesn’t view Harry as his father. True Son just wouldn't accept the fact that he had white blood. Another thing that makes the book and the movie similar is that in both of them, Aunt Kate is stubborn and doesn’t like True Son. She just generally doesn’t like Indian’s and thinks they’re uncivilized. In both the movie and the book, The Indians ask True Son to call over the whites and pretend he's on their side, when in reality he's driving them over to the Indian’s so they can attack, but at the last minute True son tells the whites to go back in order to protects the whites from the Indians. It had more descriptions of what True Son’s life was like before he was taken by the whites. It provided more detail of his relationships with his Indian Tribe. The book also gave me a better insight on the emotions he was feeling and why. What I really liked about the book is that they talked about Little Crane more and who he was, unlike the movie where he was barely even brought up.
