Trump International Golf Links

A newly built controversial Scottish golf course has been under heated discussion recently. According to Anthony Baxter’s documentary “You’ve Been Trumped”(2011), Donald Trump, an American business magnate, opened his £1 billion golf course on the North Sea coast of Scotland. Mr. Trump has been facing boycott from conservationists as well as local people who were forced to sell their property as he embarks on this new project. At one point the use of CPO(compulsory purchase orders) to force residents to sell houses was nearly carried out by the Scottish government. Although the approval of CPO could accelerate the pace of the golf links construction and the course may provide job opportunity for local people, there is no doubt that every citizen has the right to keep one's own property and that no project should be built at the expense of the environment.
As can be seen from the documentary, once construction begins on the 1,400-acre estate, the lives of the farmers and fishermen nearby have been disrupted. Residents lost electricity and water and were almost forced to move from their house, where Mr. Trump described as "slum" and "pigsty", which was very rude. Even though the CPO wasn't approved and many local people stayed where they were eventually, residents now are fenced with barrier and trees around their houses. One of the residents on the Menie Estate, David Milne, sees it as " just another attempt to intimidate and bully me". (Daily Mail, 2011) Apparently it is Mr. Trump's own way of '' compulsory purchase orders". Moreover, farmers' land were occupied and fishermen had to leave the sea. Mr. Trump declared the International Golf Links would bring 6,000 jobs to the area, but at the same time he took away people's property and source of living. It is clear that no one would see this as an exchange of equal values.

When speaking of environmental problem the course brought about, what the documentary recorded is the transformation of part of an area that one environmentalist describes as a fragile and irreplaceable “mosaic of habitats” into a muddy building site. Mr. Trump rejected the idea of constructing wind farm, describing it as "one of the most serious problems Scotland will have or has had" and "will destroy the ocean view", as The Guardian stated. So it can be seen that environmental protection was pushed aside for economic development and Mr. Trump hardly cared anything about the environment, although he publicly insists that he has the approval of most environmental groups.

The Championship Golf Course, Golf House and Pro Shop opened to the public in July, 2012, according to the Trump International Golf Links official website. Beautiful pictures of the course are now shown on the site. But with all the conflicts happening behind these fantastic photos, they seem more like sarcasm. The course is not welcomed nor environmentally friendly. Therefore , it may not be economically sustainable in the predictable future.

“the Wealthier and Closer the Pressure Group Is to the Government the More Successful They Are”

...“The wealthier and closer the pressure group is to the government the more successful they are” A. How far do you agree? Pressure groups are organizations, which attempt to influence the government from outside, this means that they do not put candidates up for election and instead act as a bridge between the people and government. The are many different types of pressure groups ranging from wealthy insider groups like the B.M.A. to less wealthy outsider groups like Amnesty International. The wealthier and closer the pressure group is to the government the more successful they are. The success of the British Medical Association (B.M.A.) suggests that the wealthier and closer the pressure group is to the government the more successful they are. The B.M.A. is a voluntary association that speaks up for the interests of doctors at home and abroad, provides a range of services for its members and engages in scientific research. These activities involve lobbying not only the British government but also the European Union as well. The B.M.A. is undoubtedly one of the most influential and effective pressure groups as they have great influence over the policies of the British government regarding the health care system in matters such as the pay and training of doctors, the work of GP’s and hospitals, and the quality and quantity of medical facilities. This supports the view that the wealthier and closer the pressure group is to the government the more successful they are...

Trump Marketing

...1. Executive Summary 1.1 Brief Summary While the Trump organization continues the expansion of its entertainment/luxury conglomerate through the recent acquisition of half ownership over the sports entertainment giant The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and its recent entry into the higher-tier water business with its new brand, Trump Ice, it’s Casinos in Atlantic City (AC) do not seem to be doing so well. With increased competition, mounting regulations, and a relatively depressed economy the overall revenue of the Trump Organization’s AC hotels are diminishing, with administration expecting lower market shares in the coming years (“Trump buys raw”, 2009) (“The Trump Brand, 2012) (“Trump Entertainment Resorts, Inc”, 2010) (Bary, A., 2011). The organization’s failure to systematically allocate resources for periodic improvements/updates to these facilities have cost it the inability to attract or retain customers. In fact, just recently the organization relinquished one of its AC properties, The Trump Plaza to its competitor, The Golden Nugget (Wittowski, 2011). This is allocation of resources is critical in an industry where customer retention is correlated to the amount of expenditure and improvements made to the facilities. This slump in the organization competitive performance has been the case for quite some time. The Trump Organization has repeatedly fell at the brink of filing for bankruptcy – due to high leverage, low liquidity, and poor operating performance...

Chinese prover Key topics * Supply of human resources and demographic changes * Domestic and international labour mobility * Workforce planning * Recruitment, appraisal, training and dismissal * Changes in work patterns and practices: homeworking, teleworking and portfolio work Higher Level extension * Employment rights and legislation * Handy's shamrock organization Note: Higher Level students will need to be able to analyse reasons for changes in work patterns and practices and the consequences for employers and employees. INTRODUCTION Labour is one of the four factors of production. Many theorists argue that people are a firm's most valuable resource. Employing the right people will help a business to achieve its aims and objectives. To do this, a firm needs to use human resource planning, sometimes referred to as workforce planning. This is the management process of anticipating an organization's current and future staffing needs. It includes the number of employees required and the type of worker sought, such as graduates or ICT-literate workers. Anticipating the human resource needs of a firm can be carried out by looking at: * Historical data and trends. Data on trends, such as the rate of change in the size of the workforce over the past few years or the shift to part-time and flexible working hours, can assist management in planning...
