Tsarist Resistance To The Ottoman Empire

The Ottoman empire would have its authority tested numerous times over the next few hundred years, but it was never in serious peril or a real threat to collapse, I would argue that most of the resistance they faced was the run of the mill price of conquest. The Mamluke nobility class in Egypt not going quietly into the good night while power they had wielded for generations was taken from them is a prime example of this. They faced Tsarist intervention from Russia and responded by burning Moscow to the ground. Heavy handed tactics and reactions such as these throughout their empire are why I believe their holdings in North Africa went relatively unchallenged until the French decided they needed to intervene in the area, supposedly to combat
