Everyone in America is aware of what reality television is all about whether or not they will admit to watching it. The disease known as reality t.v. is often associated with being a guilty pleasure. American Reality Television has become the norm for entertainment and shows that involve finding love or established love create a false image of life, make viewers insecure about their own lives, as well as discourage right to privacy. Most people look for a companion in life whether it is driven biologically or emotionally therefore it only became natural to make reality television based on love. Love and romance to this day hold one of the biggest genres of the epidemic It is important in any culture for someone to feel they fit in and love is something that most people want. It is natural to be curious about love and how to obtain it. Love is one of the more relatable topics regardless of a person's background. Reality Television sets up a staged event telling viewers what love is. Entertainment plays a huge role in viewer capture, quickly allowing them to forget how much is staged, Including sets (staged housing and dates), clothing and material items like cars. The average person would not be put in the situations that they are put in to meet somebody. People who are on reality television are screened, tested, and often have applied for the show. Love is glamorized on television making others not feel good about what they have or don't have in their own personal life. There is the notion that people always want what they do not have often making popular metaphors such as the grass is always greener. Reality television target specific audiences and does extreme amount of research on who watches. More women than men have image issues and reality television continues to promote insecurity.
