First Misunderstanding
Who was the sender? [Writing suggestion: Unless in a quote or a title, avoid rhetorical questions in academic writing. A good idea is to provide answers, not questions] Me (Daniel Diggs)
Who was the receiver? An employee that [Check word usage--If this word refers to a human being, people are never "that" or "which," they are "who"] I [Avoid use of the first person (I, me, my) in academic writing unless writing about a personal experience. First person use may be allowed by the instructor. ] am responsible for supervising, we [Use "we," "us," or "our" to mean yourself and coauthors, not general humanity (or yourself and the reader)] ’ll [Contractions are inappropriate in academic writing--write it out] call him Joe.
What was the message? The tasks that I needed Joe to complete while ["While" is accurate in linking simultaneous events (meaning "during"), but if that is not the case here, use "although," "whereas," "and," or "but"] I was on vacation.
What channel was used [The passive voice is a form of "be" (was) and a participle (used). Over-use of the passive voice can make paragraphs officious and tedious to read. Prefer the active voice. For example, passive voice = The paper was completed on time. Active voice = the student completed the paper on time. See Center for Writing Excellence > Tutorials & Guides > Grammar & Writing Guides > Active & passive voice] to send the message? Face to Face [As an adjective, the previous three words are one hyphenated word] [these three words are spelled as one hyphenated word] communication
What was the misunderstanding that occurred? Joe completed all [Writing suggestion: "All" or "all of" used as an intensifier very often can be removed with no loss of meaning] the tasks, but not [Remove comma (if the following is not an independent clause or last element in a series)] in correct order. Two bills were paid late as a result of this.
How could the misunderstanding have been avoided? I needed to give Joe clear deadlines, which I did not. I assumed he knew the due dates since [Check word choice--"Since" is more precise in referring to time (meaning "after that"); otherwise use "because"] he had done this before.
What did you [Eliminate second person (you, your) in academic documents and avoid addressing the reader directly. Prefer third-person pronouns (he, she, they, it)] learn about the communication process from this activity?
I learned that you [second person] have to communicate clearly and thoroughly, especially when it comes to [Writing suggestion--Since "it" is undefined, "when it comes to" often can be reduced to simply "concerning" ] things business related. Mistakes can be made [Passive voice ] from just a slight miscommunication. Though the mistake was slight, the penalty for those late bills was not.
What seemed to be the main causes of the misunderstandings?
The main caused seemed to be myself. It was my fault. I should have never assumed Joe knew what day to make the payments. I should have been clear in what needed to be done [Passive voice ] as well as when it should be done [Passive voice ] .

Second Misunderstanding
Who was the sender (Professor)
Who was the receiver?
What was the message? For my team to collaborate on a team charter and then [consider removing "then"] have one member of the team submit the work.
What channel was used [Passive voice ] to send the message? Email [The preferred spelling is "e-mail"]

What was the misunderstanding that occurred?
I thought I needed to submit my own charter, as well as [No comma before "as well as" (which means "in addition to" and is not a conjunction the equivalent of "and")] have a one team member submit a collaborative copy of the charter.
How could the misunderstanding have been avoided? I could have fully read and understood the instructions before submitting my personal charter. If I had a question I should have presented it to the professor.
What did you [second person] learn about the communication process from this activity? Simply, if you [second person] have a question, ASK!
What seemed to be the main causes of the misunderstandings? The main cause of this misunderstanding was me not taking the time to fully understand what the assignment was beforehand.

Fundamentals of Management

...“A Horse and Two Goats” - R. K. Narayan Overview: - opens with a clear picture of the poverty in which the protagonist Muni lives. Of the thirty houses in the village, only one, the Big House, is made of brick. The others, including Muni's, are made of "bamboo thatch, straw, mud, and other unspecified materials." There is no running water and no electricity and Muni's wife cooks their typical breakfast of "a handful of millet flour" over a fire in a mud pot. NB, “drumstick” is a type of edible radish. - Muni and the American meet by chance and their inability to understand each other results in a misunderstanding wherein Muni sells the village’s horse statue for 100 rupees, thinking he is, in fact, selling his almost worthless goats. Two very distinct lives are clearly expressed via the men’s conversation (with themselves, so to speak), however one similarity does arise (women). - the third person omniscient narrator reports clearly and objectively on the characters' words, actions, and memories, and does not comment or judge. This is the writer trusting the reader to notice how absurd the conversation is without having to point it out, thus ruining the humour. It can also be a reflection of the same passivity seen in Muni when it comes to him accepting his fate. The narrator does nto have to explain how foolish or ironic the conversation is, it’s stronger if we see it ourselves. - The main conflict of the story is their inability to understand one another. The climax can be said...

Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde

...Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde When reading the story of Dr.Jekyll and Mr. Hyde many readers are able to easily relate the situations that are occurring and place them into their own lives. Many psychologists and philosophers have also seen this and have done research to see why this has come to be. George Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, a philosopher, began to research the duality of human nature before this story was even written; he concluded that every conflict has a thesis, antithesis, and synthesis. Hegel is easily able to explain the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr.Hyde by using his own Hegelian Dialectic. In the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Dr. Jekyll is determined to find a way to let his alter ego; his other personality, the evil Mr. Hyde allows Dr. Jekyll to release the anger that he keeps in that are caused by the social ‘norms’ that are present in this time period. In comparison Dr. Jekyll is seen as being a cultures young man that had many of the characteristics or a well to do man in the Victorian time period. Mr. Hyde on the other hand is seen as vulgar, disrespectful and is seen as a monster throughout the book. Both personalities of Dr. Jekyll try and balance each other out but are not able to which leads to the ultimate self destruction of both. The idea of the Hegelian Dialect, that everything have a thesis, antithesis, as well as synthesis can be seen throughout the book as a reflection of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. One of the first impression that we receive of Jekyll is...

Twin Towers

...Heroism in the Twin Towers | | | 1) One reason as to why some people act heroically in emergencies while others do not is based on the fact that heroic people possess positive morals and traits (Johnson, 2012). Furthermore, those people that possess positive morals and traits make good choices and will respond to a situation immediately (Johnson, 2012). In the case study, Heroism in the Twin Towers, the rescuers displayed positive morals and traits by using crowbars to break through drywall and opening stairway doors in order to reach out and help the victims escape being fully aware that at any given moment they could have injured themselves in the process (Johnson, 2012). Another reason as to why some people act heroically in emergencies while others do not is based on the fact that heroic people have a high moral identity where moral principles and character traits are the core of their being (Johnson, 2012). Furthermore, people with a high moral identity have a positive approach to life as well as a strong desire to do the right thing demonstrating will power and integrity to help others in need (Johnson, 2012). In the case study, Heroism in the Twin Towers, the rescuers displayed the most notable case of a high moral identity as they were willing to sacrifice their life so that the victims can live (Johnson, 2012). 2) The type of characteristic traits that the rescuers demonstrated in rescuing the victims from the Twin Tower attacks were courage, determination...

Nt1110 Analysis 1: Memory Cost

...Memory Cost By Frank Bolton Phillips NT1110 Friday 6p.m. This is to help me discover and appreciate the difference in the cost of RAM and ROM in today’s market as well as where is where it came from and where it is going. It is easy to find information on this subject as everyone seems to want in on the computer boom and profit from the ever growing demand for faster computers with huge memory. Ten years ago you would have found yourself spending over $2,000 to get just 1GB of RAM. As computer manufacturers recoup cost of R&D, the prices start to drop. Today it would only cost around $20 to purchase the same 1GB of DDR3 providing considerable savings over a decade ago. What appears to be the best deal for the money is 2GB on RAM which runs around $40 and slows enough memory to run most applications. There are other types of memory available to all of us if you’re willing to pay the price of admission. For example, some of the more exotic types of RAM can still run hundreds, even thousands of dollars. For instance, I found Super Talent 1TB STT RAID DRIVE GS RAID0 for $4,815.00 on Memory Suppliers.com. They also offer iRam 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 SDRAM PC2-5300 667MHz for $119.00. I find this is a very nice web site that is easy to navigate through and find and compare the memory you’re looking for. The following table I got from Archive Builders web site. It shows the growth to cost difference for 32 years. This was determined by the increase of the density of disks...

Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde

...is revealed. Therefore, we confront the theory of a dual human nature explicitly only after having witnessed all of the events of the novel, including Hyde’s crimes and his ultimate eclipsing of Jekyll. The text not only posits the duality of human nature as its central theme but forces us to ponder the properties of this duality and to consider each of the novel’s episodes as we weigh various theories. Jekyll asserts that “man is not truly one, but truly two,” and he imagines the human soul as the battleground for an “angel” and a “fiend,” each struggling for mastery. But his potion, which he hoped would separate and purify each element, succeeds only in bringing the dark side into being—Hyde emerges, but he has no angelic counterpart. Once unleashed, Hyde slowly takes over, until Jekyll ceases to exist. If man is half angel and half fiend, one wonders what happens to the “angel” at the end of the novel. Perhaps the angel gives way permanently to Jekyll’s devil. Or perhaps Jekyll is simply mistaken: man is not “truly two” but is first and foremost the primitive creature embodied in Hyde, brought under tentative control by civilization, law, and conscience. According to this theory, the potion simply strips away the civilized veneer, exposing man’s essential nature. Certainly, the novel goes out of its way to paint Hyde as animalistic—he is hairy and ugly; he conducts himself according to instinct rather than reason; Utterson describes him as a “troglodyte,” or primitive creature...

Gender Roles in Gotham

...Throughout media texts, most men share certain common characteristics. They are strong, stoic, protective, rational and independent, to name a few. Characters such as James Bond, Tony Soprano and most superheroes greatly exemplify many of these qualities. Reoccurring representations of men with these same attributes contribute to what is called hegemonic masculinity, or “normative male behavior” (Iftkhar, November 6, 2014). This stereotype causes the audience to associate certain qualities with men. Gotham, a new television series that creatively divulges the backstories of Batman and his most famous rivals, appeals to a male audience and represents masculinity in the classic ways. Through both character illustration and dialogue, Gotham portrays most of its male characters as strong, aggressive, and independent protectors, reinforcing the conception of hegemonic masculinity. At the same time, the show also presents characters who challenge or pervert those norms exploring invalidity of the stereotype. The city of Gotham is in bad shape. Crime lords rule and have made deals with the Gotham County Police Department to keep it that way. For example, some doctors work on the black market to treat criminals and police officers agree not to arrest them in exchange for information about the patients they see. In addition to structured crime, strange murders frequently occur in the city. James Gordon, newly appointed police homicide detective and son of former district attorney...

Homework Should Be Banned

...level of the students. However, the main argument against homework is that most of it is just boring practice. Teachers give too much homework to kids and it’s not necessary. In an article written by Lance J. Falk it states that “kids have lives beyond school and schoolwork. About 65 percent of kids, ages of 6-13, play competitive sports. But, unfortunately, some of those kids quit playing the sport they love due to the fact that they have too much schoolwork to tackle during their evening” (Falk). If a student has three soccer practices a week, which consumes 2.5 hours of his Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons, how do you think he or she feels? He or she would obviously feel very tired, right? But now if that same student had two hours of homework three of the five days that he or she has school he or she would feel exhausted, stressed, and maybe depressed after weeks of this. He’s not going to have the energy to do any of the homework. Many kids have to quit their favorite sport that they love just to focus on their homework because they don’t want to fail the class. A further point is that unnecessary assignments raise the stress level of...

Alternate Gender Roles in Native American and Hindu Societies

...While the reasons that people might identify themselves as a gender that is opposite of their own may be mostly the same from culture to culture, they way that they are viewed is usually quite different. It can also be said that many cultures choose not to even recognize alternate gender roles within their societies, which is usually because these individuals are highly misunderstood. Though many cultures end up fearing what they don't understand, there are two that have at one time embraced and celebrated the people that identified with the alternate gender roles. The Native Americans have their Two Spirits, and Indians have their Hijra. These two cultures may share many similar traits, however, the differences between the two can also be easily seen. A culture that has praised people who partake in an alternative gender role are Native Americas. The Native Americans that are identified as being Two Spirits are individuals who embody and exude both female and male characteristics, or “spirits.” From a traditional stand point, Two-Spirit people were once highly regarded as...
