Michael Johnsons book, A Typology of Domestic Violence: Intimate Terrorism, Violent Resistance, and Situational Couple Violence provides an in-depth analysis of intimate partner violence, broken up into four different categories in hopes to clarify past research that has created misleading, problematic and contradictory findings. The four different types of intimate partner violence, according to Johnson, are intimate terrorism, violent resistance, situational couple violence, and mutual violent control. Johnson argues that intimate partner violence is not a unitary phenomenon and that understanding intimate partner violence as having different types will help those in the field of domestic violence to diminish overgeneralizations and provide better support for women experiencing intimate partner violence.
Johnson formulates his book with an initial overview of the four different types of intimate partner violence and how determining which type of intimate partner violence, either intimate terrorism, violent resistance, situational couple violence, or mutual violent control, will help researchers move forward with their findings and the various conclusions that have surfaced over the past thirty years. Johnson dedicates three chapters of his book, one to intimate terrorism, and another to violent resistance, and a third to situational couple violence, claiming that these are the most prevalent forms of intimate partner violence found today. Johnson does not dedicate a chapter to mutual violent control, simply because he claims it is found in only a very small number of cases.
Beginning with intimate terrorism, Johnson claims that this is the most commonly thought of form when we talk about “domestic violence.” Intimate terrorism in sum is a pattern of ongoing emotional, sexual, and or physical violent abuse carried out by only one partner in an intimate

...In this lesson, I learnt about my control level. I learnt that i have strong internal control. The assessment helped me to know that I am responsible of my life and how it turns out eventually.I control my own destiny, and influence my world. That was not too surprising for me , because I already exert all the energy I control positively . From assessment on burnout , i had a surprising discovery about my self - my score reveled that i am at a very severe risk of burnout and i need to do something urgently i think that is accurate and i will sure work on it. From the stress assessment test, i learn that i have a low to moderate chance of becoming ill in the near future, which is quite comforting. from this plan I hope to use my knowledge about myself and the theories I have learnt to live better with peoples, because this will eventually determine how I will handle my staff and other workmates in the future. None of the theories are complete of their own , so my plan is also to use the skills i have learnt here as a frame work within which i can improve my management skills. right now i do not hold a management position but i hope to do soon. I plan to understand what my staff need , so that i can manage them better. I plan to work with clearly stated plan and guided consequences for action or inaction because that will help the staff model positive behavior and can lead to positive results. I also plan to pay attention to my myself so that i do not drift into a burn out state...

Typologies

...INTRO: Individuals may have their own religious beliefs without belonging to any particular organization: they may firm their own personal and unique relationship with a God or some source of spiritual power. However, many members of society express their religious beliefs through organizations, and the organizations tend to shape those beliefs. There are many different types of religious organizations that need to be distinguished. CHURCH: Troeltsch 1931 was one of the first writers to try to distinguish different types of religious organizations. Troeltsch used the term Church to refer to a large religious organization. Individuals do not have to demonstrate their faith to become members of a church – indeed, often they are born into it. In some Churches the practice of baptism ensures that all the children of members are automatically recruited before they are old enough to understand the faith. In principle a Church might try to be universal – to embrace all its members of society however in practice there might substantial minorities who do not belong. Because of its size, members of a Church are drawn from all classes in society, but the upper classes are particularly likely to join. This is because, in Troeltsch’s words a church usually stablizes and determines the political order. Churches are sometimes closely related to the state. E.g. Roman Catholic Church in the Middle Ages has important political, educational and social functions. Even in contemporary Britain...

Typology of Languages

...Morphological typology refers to the nomenclature of the method used to classify languages depending on the way in which their morphemes are joined together. In one side of the spectrum we can find analytic languages, which only use isolated morphemes. Then we would have agglutinative languages and fusional languages which use bound morphemes, melting them together in order to convey several meanings. Located on the other side of the spectrum are the so called polysynthetic languages, which compress lots of separate morphemes into single words. Nevertheless, before getting into depth in the morphological typology of languages, and also the patterns of word formation, it must be explained the core concept covered within this paper: the concept of word. Although it may seem simplistic, the study and analysis of this concept entails certain difficulty and may vary from one culture/language to another. Most scholars make a distinction between phonological and grammatical word as principal distinctions. A phonological word can be defined as a prosodic unit not smaller than a syllable (Aikhenvald). It is a string of sounds that behaves as a unit for certain kinds of phonological processes, especially stress and accent. Normally, it is not needed to make a distinction between these two types of words in utterances like linguistics or science. However, there are cases in which this differentiation arises as necessary. For example, in English every phonological word has a main...

Victim Typologies

...Victim Typologies Primary Victimization: One person targeted: - consists of a situation with personalized or individual form of victimization whereby an individual or group selects a specific person to target for victimization. A typical victim of this could be a hate crime where a specific person is picked out for victimization on the basis of their race or skin color. Secondary Victimization: Impersonal Target – involves an impersonal target being victimized. This could consist of a business or corporation victimizing an individual. An example of this could be a customer using their credit card in a department store only to find out that their personal information was sold out to a third party. Typology Pros And Cons

...Building Proposal GÜNEY stated that “typology is the comparative study of physical or other characteristics of the built environment into distinct type” (3). Relatively, the term itself originates in the mid-nineteenth century. De Mauro believes that typology’s emergence is greatly influenced with how abstract models are renewed during this era (as qtd. in GÜNEY 5). This is not surprising because notably, typology exists and transforms continually since the Enlightenment. Consequently, the 7 continents have their own building typology. For the purposes of this paper, six buildings from every continent will be discussed. Africa Fig 1. Myers Briggs Assessment

...Myers-Briggs assessment critique Abstract This critique will cover personal observations and analysis of the Myers-Briggs assessment. The assessment helps describe personality types according to Carl Jung and Isabel Briggs Myers typology. After completion, there are two different descriptions along with a career identifier based on the type of personality the test described. Myers-Briggs assessment critique When I originally completed the test about 10 days ago, I was very skeptical of this assessment because I felt that my answers or my train of thought might change based on how I feel today or this week. I decided to take this test today to see if there was any difference on the personality type it would present. I want to point out that I did not remember, nor did I care to remember my previous answers when I originally took this personality assessment. I was not amazed, but definitely surprised when I saw ENTJ (Extraverted, Intuitive, Thinking and Judging) code again; although extraverted and thinking blocks were significantly higher the second time I completed the assessment. This gave me a better idea and positive perception about this typology test, as I do not remember taking this type of an assessment in the past. Reading ENTJ type description by J. Butt and M.M. Heiss made me ask more questions than understanding simply because of generalization aspects. Yes, many things in the psychological description fit my personality type, but they are describing many...

Jung Typology Test

...Jung Typology Test Austin Blake Montgomery Tarleton State University After conducting the Jung Typology Test my results came out to ENFJ, extravert 22%, Intuitive 25%, feeling 12%, judging 22%. When searching the internet for a definition of my score it came to a web page called personality page.com. The site labeled me as “ the giver” and its opening line broadly defines my sore as, “As an ENFJ, you're primary mode of living is focused externally, where you deal with things according to how you feel about them, or how they fit into your personal value system. Your secondary mode is internal, where you take things in primarily via your intuition.” According to this website my primary focus is a people pleaser, I focus on my strong people skills, also I let people know I care and understand them which allows me to bring out the best in people. I get personal satisfaction from helping others feel accomplished and satisfied, but in return for my people pleasing abilities I have the ability to make people do exactly what I want them to do, in positive ways only of course. Another part of my definition for ENFJ’s is the need for these types of individuals is important to spend time alone. Though people have to be careful because these types of personalities can drift to dark areas of thinking when alone. Another side of this is the need to keep one’s life busy with aspects of others’ lives, as to not have time to self-reflect too much. In general the web site defines...

(Introversion, 2001, Gale Encyclopedia). I am very introverted I like to work alone, I do better when I work alone, I do tend to think things over in my head before planning a course of action. I don’t rely on anyone unless I have no choice. I am very thoughtful I’ll like to hold doors open pick something up if someone drops something near me, I’ll take the heavy loads for a smaller person that seems to be struggling. I am very reserved I won’t really put anything on the table unless I’m asked to. Sensing is another important part of my personality. Sensing types like to get information on things through sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell. (Ford-Martin,P., 2006, Gale Encyclopedia) Kinesthetic also fits into this category with being hands on. I am very hands on. I’ve worked on car, electronic, and anything mechanical. A person needs to be sensing and kinesthetic to work on these kinds of things. To work on cars you need to be able to hear, see, smell, or touch the problem, and also applies to most anything mechanical. Jung's Typology Test

...My first reaction was oh no another test that won’t be accurate. I had no problem answering the questions. This was a surprise I thought it would be more difficult to decide on which answer was best. I wanted the test to be accurate. I would think that the answer could be skewed if my answers weren’t thought out. The Human- metrics Jung typology test scored my types as a 22% extravert, 41%intuitive, (5 feeling and 6% judging. After initially reading that, I really had no idea what to expect from the type description. I can say I was pleasantly surprised at the description of my personality type. The first thing that caught my attention was that I have “tremendous charisma by which many are drawn into their nurturant tutelage of or grand schemes. Oh my, does that appeal to my sense of shenanigans. It stated that we believe in our dreams and see myself as a helper. We see the big picture and can juggle a number of responsibilities simultaneously. I’m also apt to neglect myself to attend to the needs of others. Colleagues are always welcome in my space. Embracing Introverts

...Embracing Introverts Heather Wallace Ivy Tech Community College Embracing Introverts “Our lives are shaped as profoundly by personality as by gender or race.”(Susan Cain, 2012, p. 211). Cain stated this in the excerpt “The Power of the Introverts” from the book Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking. Cain explained how psychologists categorized our lives into introvert or extrovert. That is, two types of personality traits. She gave explanation and examples on what she has stated. Cain explained where introverts and extroverts came into our lives. She explained where we fall on the introvert- extrovert spectrum. “Our place on this continuum influences our choice of friends and mates, and how we make conversation, resolve differences, and show love” (Cain, 2012, p. 211). According to Cain (2012), it can determine what career field we choose, what music we listen to, what we do without sleep, and if we would be a good leader. I think Cain explained herself well. I agree with everything she said. She made it clear how introverts and extrovert came into our lives and why we pick the things we do. Introversion and extroversion are very involved personality styles. There is nothing bad about being an introvert or extrovert. One is not better than the other. It is simply who you are. There is no shame in being one or the other. Extroverts like to be the center of attention. They are very outgoing, enthusiastic, independent, and have a tendency to...

Compare Contrast

...Introverts vs. Extroverts One way to distinguish a person’s personality is to define them as an introvert or extrovert. The attribute of extraversion–introversion is a fundamental aspect of human temperament perceptions. Introversion is defined as "the state of or tendency toward being wholly or predominantly concerned with and interested in one's own mental life". Extroversion is defined as "the act, state, or habit of being predominantly concerned with obtaining gratification from what is outside the self". Extroversion is established through outward, conversational, lively behavior, while introversion is conveyed in a more aloof and unsocial behavior. Although there may be some people that are extreme introverts or extroverts, the behavior of people change all the time and one may not constantly act accordingly to their personality type. Compared to extroverts, introverts can be seen as more reserved. Introverts tend to spend more time alone than with others; however, that fact should not be confused with loneliness. Introverted people are able to find more joy in solitary activities than they would find in group activities. Even though introverts do not find socializing with others as amusing as being left to their own thoughts, they are capable of mingling with others. With that fact in mind, introverts should not be mistaken for shy because they do not panic at the thought of social interactions like shy people do. Introverts have a preference for focusing on one activity...

Typologies in Religious Organisations

...Assess the usefulness of typologies in our understanding of religious organisations (33 marks) Religions are based upon very heterogenic principles and are structured in different ways, making them different of each other and therefore proving that they are not universal as some sociologists argue. Typologies within religious organisations have helped as to define religions and prove that they are based on religious pluralism and that they can be era-dependent, or in other ways can become outdated. Troeltsch was the first sociologist to divide religions into three different typologies; churches, sects and denominations, with very different characteristics and objectives. Troeltsch proved that some aspects of religions can be very different, like the background of members, the relationship to society or the tolerance towards other faiths and based upon this principles he divided each religion into one of his tree basic typologies. Troeltsch defines churches as large organisations with a universal appeal and defines Christianity and Islam as universalistic and as the main churches with a very close relationship with the state. Churches can have as mentioned a very close relationship with the state and the government, such as the Church of England, which has `monopolised´ the demands of the British society by becoming the predominant religion in the country. The Church of England has a very close relationship with the government, but also with the monarchy and therefore `jealously...

Study of the Intj Typology

...A Study of the INTJ Typology Utilizing the Meyers-Briggs Personality Test XXXXXXXXXXX Liberty University Online Abstract Utilizing the Meyers-Briggs Personality test, I have learned that my personality typology is INTJ. Personalities can be broken down into 4 categories, that consist of 2 types. This paper will develop each of the 4 categories in the INTJ typology (I - Introversion, N - iNtuition, T - Thinking and J - Judging), and the INTJ typology itself to confirm the test validity in determining my personality profile using the application of my personal experiences. I will also discuss aspects of Organizational behavior that were expressed in the writings of Kroeger, O.; Thuesen, J.; & Rutledge, H. Type Talk to Work, and in the power point presentation by Fisher, K (2009). A World View Perspective on Organizational Behavior.
