Uber is a ridesharing service that is headquartered out of San Francisco, California, also operating in other international cities. The company uses a smartphone or mobile tablet application to arrange rides between drivers and riders. The primary role of the IT in this business is not only the enabling of operations, but IT also provides a specific competitive advantage. Most ridesharing services do not run strictly from an application from a mobile device. Uber set themselves above the rest because they were able to engage themselves in a rapidly growing market, with fast, easy, and economical services that all smartphone users can engage themselves in. IT is also the enabler of this company. Customers use this app to request rides and track their reserved vehicle’s location. Without the use of this technology there would be no means of communication between the riders and drivers. The IT that Uber uses is not seen to be “cutting edge” in any means. It is conservative in the means of the technology used; the only thing that makes Uber’s IT “cutting edge” is the innovative way that they have changed and taken control of many markets across world. The use of the business is relatively

simple; the rider goes on to the application enters their location and debit/credit card number and is paired with a driver that is near by. There are many applications that are in thousands of different markets that use this same means of payment and use of IT. What makes the IT of Uber so fantastic is that there were not applications like this when the company first really started to expand and grab a hold of its customers. The mobile market is the fastest growing in the world, and Uber took advantage of this market years ago, never looking back. Uber’s use of IT compliments the company’s strategic direction by providing differentiation in its market. Uber was the front…...

...Uber allows you to request and pay for a ride with a just one click on your smartphone. Users rave about the app's simplicity, which makes it super easy to get a car at any time of day or night. The car comes to pick you up, and will not stop for any bystanders on the way. Challenge As Uber expanded internationally, it needed a payment gateway provider that could simplify the complexities of taking an mCommerce business international and efficiently process payments in foreign currencies. During its initial expansion into Paris, and before Braintree, Uber had to charge Parisian passengers in U.S. dollars and display Euros on-screen. This discrepancy was a large source of confusion and customer complaints, making passengers slow to adopt the new service. Uber wanted a payment gateway that was specifically created for mobile. The app needed to be consistently fast and allow users to hail a ride in just one click. Most other mobile payments software uses a web browser masked as an app. This web view approach requires more network activity, which in turn affects performance and limits merchants' ability to use rich, native interface components on mobile platforms. It was also important that the provider offered 100% data portability if Uber ever decided to switch providers. With many providers, including Authorize.net, merchants are not able to quickly retrieve their users' stored data, creating a big headache for companies, like Uber, who rely on ease of payment to......

They are produced in factories from the combination of thousands of components, and to most people the physical properties of a car can readily be assessed. But recent experience from the car sector suggests that car manufacturers may be rather more enthusiastic to describe themselves as service-oriented companies. The days are long gone when a car manufacturer would sell a car on the strength of its design features, and then forget about the customer until the time came to replace the car three years later. Car manufacturers have realized that car buyers seek more than the tangible offering— important though that is. Over time, they have moved increasingly into services in an attempt to gain a larger share of car buyers' wallets. In the UK, Ford has led the way in many aspects of this increasing service orientation. It saw an opportunity in the 1970s with the liberalization of consumer credit regulations to offer car buyers loan facilities with which to make their car purchase. Not only did this make it easier for middleincome groups to......

...Canadian Government and Medical Education Healthcare services are very paramount for the progress of a society as any meaningful growth and development in any nation is a direct reflection of the citizenry’s good health as nations infested by bad health realize no meaningful progress. Canada is experiencing high demand for healthcare services however medical specialists are not finding work. Newly trained doctors and nurses are unable to find jobs in a field that urgently needs them. This has led to patients having to wait for longer than usual to get treatment or even start treatment e.g. cancer patients waiting close to a month to see radiation oncologists. Despite the country’s continuing shortage of doctors and long wait list for many medical services, physicians in half-dozen or more specialties are facing unemployment or underemployment or are being underpaid. The government has invested hundred millions of dollars in areas such as ontology and orthopedic surgery so as to reduce patient delay and expand services but the objective has been difficult to achieve since hospitals and health regions lack money to hire these experts once they hit the job market. This fate similarly befalls the specialist whose trainings have been facilitated by the government so as to render their services in high demand areas. The reason for this problem is attributed to the fact that medical schools have scan science in determining the number of positions to allocate to each field......
