...S. RAMESH KUMAR AND KASTURI BARAL rP os t IMB 349 XYLYS: Exploring Consumer Perception about Premium Watches in the Indian Context BACKGROUND op yo Manoj Chakravarti, Senior Advisor, Titan Industries reflected on his 28 years in the watch industry, both in India and abroad, and contemplated about Xylys, Titan’s premium watch brand, and its foray into the Indian market. He had formulated several aspects of marketing mix strategies in the past to face diverse kinds of challenges. For Chakravarti, any challenge in the watch industry, especially in an emerging market such as India, was something he looked forward to, as it gave him immense satisfaction when he was able to find some insights. Xylys was a premium watch brand launched by Titan a few years ago; the brand was aimed at creating a unique perception among consumers. The challenge was to create and shape a perception unique to the brand, since premium watches in India were associated with the Swiss brands Omega and Rolex, or Tag Heuer and other similar brands, which were more contemporary in nature. There were several interesting possibilities for Chakravarti to consider. Would a conventional-positioning approach be sufficient? Was it necessary to obtain some insights regarding the application of the uniqueness aspect to the self-perception of consumers? How were such aspects of uniqueness related to other established brands? How important was the “Swiss-made” label? Did the buyers and......

Diffrence Between Islamic Economics and Conventional Economics

...Frankly, to know more about Islamic economic, lets briefly look at differentiation between Islamic economic and conventional economic. The first different is the role of moral values. Basically, conventional economics is more concern towards behavior and preferences of individuals as given. However, Islamic economics more concern on individual and social improvement throughout the moral elevation. This moral evaluation or known as uplift moral aims to the changes of individual and preferences of the individuals which is complement the price mechanism in promoting general well being. (Chapra Umer M, 2010) This obviously show that conventional economic considers about the behavior and preference that given while Islamic economic consider about the changes of behavior and preferences. In Islamic economics, before customers entering the market place and being exposed to the price filter, the consumers are expected to pass their claims through the moral filter. With this, the preposterous, wasteful and unnecessary demand on resources can be discarding and filter out. Here then the price mechanism take over and lessen all the claims on resources and subsequently lead to meet market equilibrium. Sometimes, two filters (Islamic and conventional) can make it possible in making optimum economy, due to may be one filter not able to fulfill the market needs of all human being. This two filter can be together in order to use only the necessary resources to satisfy the material as well as......

Bakers' Confectionary, also called confectionery, includes principally sweet pastries, cakes, and similar baked goods. In the Middle East and Asia, flour-based confections are more dominant. At present, bakers and confectionery segment in Pakistan is relatively less organized. Two Voices

...Two voices Kashmir can join Hands with Pakistan or It can choose To be independent Kashmir is one of the most disputed issue of the world since the partition of the Subcontinent. At the time of partition, Kashmir was under the control of Hindu Dogra and for this reason this area was considered as a princely state. According to partition act of law that all princely states would be given full opportunity to join any country or be independent. So it makes sense that Kashmir can still join hands with Pakistan or choose to be independent. Kashmir can join Pakistan, the reason why Kashmir should is that this would be beneficial for both the countries. First the advantages Kashmir would get are industrial revolution, freedom to follow any religion, and defense system. Kashmir has no industries at all so it would be beneficial to the people of Kashmir to get jobs and alleviate their poverty. Pakistan is an Islamic state but it has freedom to follow any culture, religion, or any ideology so it would enable Kashmiri people to practice any religion. Kashmir has no defense system so joining hands with Pakistan (Seventh Atomic Nation) can provide it defense. The advantages Pakistan would get when Kashmir is in its premises are rivers, Siachen Glacier, tourism, and agriculture. Rivers are the most important of all, Pakistan needs water to fertile its lands to escalate its agriculture and this would surge the building of dams. Siachen Glacial is Pakistani military based area......

...team mammoth effort against Bangladesh and shocking India to go through to the Finals. Throughout the tournament there were areas of concern for the team in view of global trophy success in 2015 held in Australia. First, Shahid Afridi did play well in terms of batting by pulling off the amazing heist against India and decimating Bengalis to achieve a gigantic score. Shahid Afridi is one of the most iconic cricketers the country has produced but there must be a serious concern about fitness since he has become more prone to injuries. The all-rounder has not set world alight with his bowling since few years. It is imperative for the team management to manage the work load of stalwart in order to be in full throttle in the global tournament. Umer Gul one of the most reliable spearheads powers started to wane since he has looked off-color and has bowled poorly to add worries for the coach and selectors. The fast bowler might be out of favor any time soon in near future. The third big worry for the Pakistan is over-reliance of Saeed Ajmal to deliver the unthinkable every game. The argument holds validity when watching final to marked difference between him and the rest. The Champion must be looked after well since his workload is immense these days. Moin Khan and team management must try to circumvent these problems since the defeat in the tournament was a blessing in disguise for the Mercurial Green...

Case Study 5

...Arif, Umer MGMT 303 Mary Ann Bautista Aug 9, 2013 The Temptations of Tempting Case Study 1. A senior manager at a growing business and you’re ready to add employees. Your HR manager has recommended a temp-to-perm policy. You know the advantages of this approach, but what might some of the disadvantages? As a person who has worked many temporary positions, if I had to look at the disadvantages of temp to perm I am not sure what I would say. I think the biggest disadvantage would have to be having to retrain a new person every time someone didn’t work out. The more time you spend training someone the less time you and that person spend doing the job they were hired to do. There also may be a decrease in company morale. If you bring in a temp working putting in the same hours every week and the same amount of hard work as your permanent employees, but they are not getting the same benefits this could lead to problems (Schaefer, 2005). Studies show that there are more safety issues in places where there are a lot of temporary workers hired. It is never safe to assume that a temporary worker is able to work unsupervised no matter how much training they may have (Schaefer, 2005). 2. Assume that you’re a prospective job seeker (which you may very well be). What do you personally see as the advantages and disadvantages of taking a temp-to-perm position? Under what circumstances are you most likely to take a temp-to-perm position? ...
