Rizal Today We all know that Dr. Jose Rizal did not only spark a revolution but also added a huge chunk of fuel to the flames of Filipino nationalism through his writings and his philosophic ideals. But to what extent is the question. It’s obvious that our national hero loved our country and believed in something greater for our country –a brighter tomorrow, a future of equality. He believed in our potential as should any other country-loving citizen. Indeed, there was no man of that time better qualified to inspire the people. He definitely did not fall short on his credentials, considering he studied medicine in Manila and travelled to Spain to finish his medical degree and later studying ophthalmology in Germany in high hopes of curing his mother’s slowly failing eyesight. While he was in Europe, he became part of the Propaganda Movement, cultivating his nationalistic views which would much later be manifested by his two greatest works, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, two novels that spoke of the dark aspects of the Philippines under Spanish colonial rule, focusing mainly on the abusive friars and the power hungry politics that plagued the local government. This gives rise to the common misconception is that Rizal yearned for independence from our Spanish colonizers. There is no doubt that Rizal loved his country which begs the question “Why wouldn’t he want independence?” Well Rizal was a well educated man who lived most of his adulthood in Spain. During his stay there, he saw the potential of the Philippines to prosper as a nation with the help of our colonizers. He thought that the Philippines was not ready to govern itself at the time so instead, he wanted the Filipino people to have rights equal to the Spanish before the law. He wanted the Filipino priests instead of Spanish Augustinians, Dominicans or Franciscans. He wanted the

Susan Glaspell's A Jury Of Her Peers

...plain sight, the men and women saw it.The trifles that the men found as “useless” clues, the women could find the truth. The trifles symbolized the strength and bond that only the women shared and understood. Miss Minnie Foster left a “nice mess” in her house when she left (6) . At least that's what the men see. Everything that was in the kitchen that they saw, that was a “mess” -- the exploded jars, the dirty towels, and the unfinished work --was a key part of the murder. While Mrs. Hales was sympathetic about Mrs. Foster's jars exploding the men laughed about how she's “held for murder, and worrying about her preserves” (6). The women understood the hard work and dedication that was...

Unfinished Sentence

...The first Wednesday of September has been designated as the official kickoff for this year’s youth programs at New Life Reformed Church. So on the last week of August, Ryan called together my fellow volunteers and I for a sponsor meeting. At six o’clock, the six of us lounged around on the couches in the TIC room and engaged in casual conversation with Ryan. The meeting was officially initiated with a few rounds of icebreaker questions. Ryan pulled out this book called “Unfinished Sentences” and went around the circle asking each person a different question. I reported to the group what my morning routine was, what my favorite ice cream flavor is, and the kind of people that I like to be around. Certain questions caused the conversation to go down a few rabbit trails as we speculated what youth group would be like if we just took the kids out to get ice cream every single week....

...Analysis of root cause of job dissatisfaction and high turnover - Management Leadership & Foreman Issues The root causes for job dissatisfaction and high turnover rates among foremen at the Lima tire plant is due to a lack of job training, high workload, and lack of communication and support from management. There is a severe lack of job training among the foremen. The foremen need training on how to manage, lead, and motivate the union linemen as well as training on union rules and standards. There are problems within the linemen and foremen relationship as a result of the lack of training. There is also distrust and resentment between the union workers and foremen. The union workers seem to be protected by union reps. There was one example where it seemed the disciplinary action taken by the foremen was reversed by the union rep in an attempt the protect the union lineman. This union protection takes authority away from the foremen and further increases the distrust and resentment between the workers and foremen. In addition to lack of training, the foremen are overworked. There are two 12-hour shifts with a 30-minute lunch and 2 breaks, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. In addition to managing the linemen the foremen must maintain production forecasts, identify maintenance issues at start of shift, monitoring labor hours and production rates, safety and health standards, staff production team, scheduling hourly employees, approve vacation requests...

Unfinished Psych of Terrorism

...PSY 487: Final Paper Lisa Maiorana Spring 2014 What is terrorism and why is it a part of our global society? Terrorism is often the result of some type of social or economic injustice, such as poverty, the unemployment rate, government-imposed restrictions on individual freedoms, and a lack of order or morality. For most Americans, the words “terrorist” or “terrorism,” instantly triggers a flashbulb memory of where they were when the Twin Towers fell on that fateful day, September 11, 2001. Many people continue to struggle with the notion that there are groups out there, brought together by their unanimous hatred for Americans. The 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center and Pentagon is arguably the most disastrous act of terrorism of all time, forcing Americans and the rest of the world to see the threat of terrorism in a new light (Borum, 2003). The 20th and 21st centuries saw new developments in technology that may have changed the game of terrorism, however, extremist ideology and justification of violence, is not a new political strategy (“Terrorism in the,”). Rebel groups have been establishing roots and sprouting up all over the world since the beginning of human history (*CITE #3). The formation of such groups has occurred across centuries, but the term “terrorism” wasn’t coined until the 18th century, during the French Revolution’s Reign of Terror. Revolutionary officials—referred to as terrorists—and their subordinates, enforced the policies of “The Terror...

Book Analysis: Unfinished Business

...Title The title that I gave these chapters is “Unfinished Business”. The highlight of these chapters was undoubtedly the part where Assef reveals himself to Amir and how he is the one who has Sohrab. As Assef mentions “We have some unfinished business, you and I” (Hosseini 300) when referring to Amir and himself. This title not only applies to the part where Assef and Amir had a fight, but also how Amir grew as a person. Amir had a lot of unfinished business that he had to finish, such as repenting for the sins that he committed in the past. That is what Amir did, for the first time he fights Assef rather than hiding away like he used to. The fact that Sohrab ends up hitting Assef with his slingshot and partially blinds him shows how he settles his father’s, Hassan’s unfinished matters. In a way, we see Sohrab gaining his vengeance for his father’s rape even though he may be unaware of that fact. Therefore, these are the reasons...

Philosophy Paper of Christian Counseling (Unfinished)

...I am a Christian going on to become a counselor and Psychologist. Here is my philosophy that I began writing. It is not complete but will be soon. Introduction: The Need for Biblical Counseling The need for Biblical counseling has always been a need ever since the beginning of sin. When Adam and Eve chose to disobey God in the garden of Eden, a terrible thing happened. Sin had entered into the world, and through sin, sickness, pain, addiction, and hardships also came with it. and it is growing, because Christian and secular culture have changed. The practice of studying and understanding Gods Word has been neglected as people drift away from books and memorization, to electronics and reminders on their devices. People do not think for themselves anymore because there is always an article or some made-up doctrine that fits ones agenda instead of Gods Holy Word. Defining Biblical Counseling – Biblical counseling is selflessly helping people with using a God centered, Biblically immersed, use of language and fellowship to help a person bring glory to God in and through their life using Gods Words Truths. Contrary to secular counseling where the counselor is focused on fixing the problem at hand and nothing more, Biblical counseling has a relational aspect to it meaning that it involves a relationship between two people. It also involves going to and using Gods Holy Word for answers and applying it to one’s life by taking steps to change. One must believe Scripture is...

Ao1 Health and Social Care - Methods of Communication [Unfinished]

...In this assignment I will be talking about the different types of communication that are used in care settings with factors that support and inhibit them. Communication is very important as it means sharing, giving and retaining information, and without daily interactions with other people, either orally or verbally, it would be extremely hard to get information that may be needed. In care settings, communication is vital to help with patients and clients. Communication is important in health and social care is it helps to build a relationship between the client/ service user and carer. There are four types of communication used in care settings, and these are; oral, written, computerised and special methods. Oral Oral communication is the process by which information is given verbally from one person or group of people to another. This includes consultations between a Doctor and a patient within the Doctors surgery. Oral communication can either be informal or formal. The purpose of oral communication is to build a relationship with the service user, therefore building up their self-esteem and making them more confident with talking to the practitioner. Also providing empathy when needed helps to support the service user and therefore gain more trust, that the practitioner will not tell anyone what they have just said and discussed, and that they will keep all their information confidential so no one can access it. It is also used to develop mutual understanding between the...

Dr. Eric Foner Calls Reconstruction “Americas Unfinished Revolution.”

...Abby Ortega Dr. Ross-Nazzal Hist 1301 May 9, 2016 Describe the “new birth of freedom” Lincoln called for in 1863 for that happened during Reconstruction. This essay will examine the new birth of freedom. On December 8, 1863, President Lincoln offered a preliminary plan to reunite Confederate states with the Union. The Civil War, in the words of President Abraham Lincoln, brought to America "a new birth of freedom." President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863, as the nation approached its third year of bloody civil war. The proclamation declared "that all persons held as slaves" within the rebellious states "are, and henceforward shall be free."By the war's end it was already clear that Reconstruction would bring far-reaching changes in Southern society and a redefinition of the place of blacks in American life. This is important because the expansive wording, the Emancipation Proclamation was limited in many ways. It applied only to states that had seceded from the Union, leaving slavery untouched in the loyal Border States. It also expressly exempted parts of the Confederacy that had already come under Northern control. Most important, the freedom it promised depended upon Union military victory. Although the Emancipation Proclamation did not end slavery in the nation, it captured the hearts and imagination of millions of Americans and fundamentally transformed the character of the war. After January 1, 1863, every advance of federal troops...
