Business confidence and stability Stability exists when businesses can make forecasts for the short and long term about likely demand for their products in the near future. Stability involves being able to make deals secure in the knowledge that the people you supply on credit will be able to pay you back the price agreed. An example of this would be a bank loan. Businesses like to have stable economic condition, this gives them and the customer’s confidence to go out and spend money. In other words, the demands for luxury items are still high. This is because when customers know that they could afford to buy something without worrying about losing their job they tend go out and purchase more products and therefore increase overall sales. This increase of sales due to high demand gives the business the confidence to not react hastily by sacking their employees, which is the first and easiest thing businesses do to cut down on costs when they are in a recession. A recession can have a negative effect on the business. This is because when the people involved in a business become more cautious, as mentioned before, customers cut back on spending and start to save more, manufacturers and sellers cut back on their orders, produce fewer and start to cut back costs in general, including by laying off workers. This drop in the value of goods results in both the business suffering and the employees since they are both interlinked. For example, if the business suffers then the employees are at a risk of being unemployed, thus they will spend less and businesses again will have a decrease in sales, this leads to a cycle of instability and lost profit. A ripple effect is created at the onset of recessions, this is the idea that after a few major or a-lot of minor companies are in a recession then the rest will follow. This is closely linked to the domino effect. This

...Title:- To illustrate the 2 different economies in 2 different countries Procedure In this report I will talk about the economies of 2 different countries and they will be America and the Singapore. Then I will compare them both and link them to a business Findings/Content This first country whose economy that is going to be mentioned is the America. The government in America thought that in order for America to make funding and also provide jobs for their people, They should put money in the economy and because of this, the economy hit their lowest point in 1930. Around that time their president chose to design a dam which would be called the hoover dam.Hoover personally believed that by making the hoover dam, they will provide funding in America and make new jobs for people inn the country. America still use this kind of technique right now to expand their country. The idea to invest in the economy in order to increase their economic growth was John Maynard Keynes . John Maynard's Keynes theory thought if the government invested in it economy it would boost the economy. Ways to make sure this happens are opening new businesses so more people will have jobs, also he thought that the government must lower its interest rates because if they are low organisations can extract bank loans more easily and they can also use these loans to develop more outlets, if organisations continue to take out bank loans. This can be used to increase employees wages so employees can...

...Changing the importance of the three sectors 1. What are the 3 sectors of business activity? There are three sectors and they are: • The Primary Sector- this is the sector where raw materials are collected for example, farming, fishing and mining. • The Secondary Sector- In this sector the raw materials are manufactured and turned into a selling product, for example making a plastic bottle from oil. • The Tertiary Sector- this is the retail sector where the manufactured products are sold but also is where some businesses provide a service. 2. Copy the graph on pg 108 to show the changing employment levels in the different sectors over the last 20 years in the UK. This graph is showing us that in 1985 there use to be more employees in the more labour jobs like mining and quarrying, textiles and motor cars but in 2000 these had fallen instead there were more jobs in hotels and restaurants, recreation and sport than in 1985. 3. Explain 2 reasons why there has been a decrease in the primary sector in the UK: The primary sector has decreased because of advanced technology and everything is becoming automated. For example, in farms where raw materials were usually dug up by hand, they are now using machines to do it instead. This is because it is cheaper to buy machines as it is faster and more efficient. The result therefore is that costs are reduced and profits are increased, but also fewer people are needed to work in these sectors. 4. Explain 2 reasons why there...

Dea Tutorial

...DEA Tutorial Abstract Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a linear programming based technique for measuring the relative performance of organisational units where the presence of multiple inputs and outputs makes comparisons difficult. This tutorial paper introduces the technique and uses an example to show how relative efficiencies can be determined and targets for inefficient units set. The paper also considers a number of practical issues of concern in applying the technique. Introduction There is an increasing concern with measuring and comparing the efficiency of organisational units such as local authority departments, schools, hospitals, shops, bank branches and similar instances where there is a relatively homogeneous set of units. The usual measure of efficiency, i.e.: [pic] is often inadequate due to the existence of multiple inputs and outputs related to different resources, activities and environmental factors. This problem can be illustrated for depots of a large retailing organisation which distributes goods to supermarkets. In this case the inputs for an efficiency measure are taken to be the value of the stock and the recurrent costs mainly in the form of wages, as those are resources supporting the operation of the depots. Stock is reasonably an input to an efficiency measure as an efficient depot will attempt to give a good service at lower stock levels, saving on capital and space. The outputs correspond to activities of the depots and are measured by...
