Dear Mr Miller I received your email explaining the issue you are having with changing the DHCP scope to match the overall corporate IP address scheme. The problem you are having as I understand it is t that some of the machines picked up new IP addresses. Well I try to follow the moto of “KISS” when I run into a problem of this nature. What this means is I tell myself to “Keep It Simple Stupid” and this reminds me that most of these types of issue can be corrected by the simplest of measures. So if I was to encounter this issue, the first thing I would do is to simply have each of the workstations that didn’t revive a new IP address rebooted. This as you is aware this forces the machine to actively ask for another IP address. Most likely this will solve at least a few of the workstations issue. Then IF you still have workstations that are having problems you might then try double checking to make sure the address scope has enough addresses if not and widen the scope range. Next I would check the DHCP server roll settings. Then if the problem persists you may check to see if it is a router/firewall problem and makes sure you have the service enable. And IF this does not correct your issue you may actually be having either a connectivity or software conflict issue on the workstations that are still having the issue. Please let me know if any or all of these ideas have been of any assistance to you.
Sincerely
Joe

What we do is we sell one Guide billions and billions of times. We exploit the multidimensional nature of the Universe to cut down on manufacturing costs. And we don’t sell to penniless hitchhikers. What a stupid notion that was! Find the one section of the market that, more or less by definition, doesn’t have any money, and try to sell to it. No. We sell to the affluent business traveler and his vacationing wife in a billion, billion different futures. This is the most radical, dynamic and thrusting business venture in the entire multidimensional infinity of space-time-probability ever.” ... Ford was completely at a loss for what to do next. “Look,” he said in a stern voice. But he wasn’t certain how far saying things like “Look” in a stern voice was necessarily going to get him, and time was not on his side. What the hell, he thought, you’re only young once, and threw himself out of the window. That would at least keep the element of surprise on his side. ...
