Unit 2 Exercise 1 Triple Play Marketing

In telecommunications, triple play service is a marketing term for the provisioning, over a single broadband connection, of: two bandwidth-intensive services, high-speed Internet access and television, and the latency-sensitive telephone. Triple play focuses on a combined business model rather than solving technical issues or a common standard. However, single standards like G.hn do exist to deliver all these services on a common platform.
A so-called quadruple play (or quad play) service integrates mobility as well, often by supporting dual mode mobile plus Wi-Fi phones that shift from GSM to Wi-Fi when they come in range of a home wired for triple-play service. Typical Generic Access Network services of this kind, such as Rogers Home Calling Zone, allow the caller to enter and leave the range of their home Wi-Fi network, and only pay GSM rates for the time they spend outside the range. Calls at home are routed over the IP network and paid at a flat rate per month. No interruption or authorization for the shift is required—soft handoff takes place automatically as many times as the caller enters or leaves the range.
By about 2000, cable TV companies were in a technical position to offer triple play over one physical medium to a large number of their customers, as their networks already have sufficient bandwidth to carry hundreds of video channels. Cable's main competition for television in North America came from satellites, which cannot compete for voice and interactive broadband due to the latency imposed by physical laws on a geosynchronous satellite—sometimes up to one full second of delay between speaking and being heard. Cable's main competition for voice and Internet access came from Telco’s, which were not yet able to compete for television in most markets because DSL over most local loops could not provide enough bandwidth.

The title of my research will be “Does CSR have any impact on company performance?” . Plato once said that, Only people with the whole nations good in mind can be allowed to rule the just state (Plato through Larsson, 2003 p. 87). The multinational companies' spot and impact is developing in the global economy furthermore, with it higher requests on obligation regarding the social and natural impacts that originates from the organizations' own particular operations. Accordingly, there is a developing enthusiasm for corporate social responsibility (CSR). Example of Financial Illusion in 2000s

...Example of Financial Illusion Introduction The emergence of an increasing number of ‘financial illusions’ in the current state of financial markets around the world casts doubts over the famous and widely accepted efficient market hypothesis. The efficient market hypothesis (EMH) indicates that, at any time, prices fully and instantaneously reflect all available relevant information on a particular stock or market (Fama, 1970). EMH also suggests that it is impossible to “beat the market” because stock market efficiency causes existing share prices to always incorporate and reflect all relevant information. Thus, according to the EMH, it is impossible for investors to either purchase undervalued stocks or sell stocks for inflated prices because stocks are always traded at their fair value on stock exchanges. Another reason is because no one has access to information that is not already available to everyone else. One important characteristic of the EMH is its assumption that agents are rational. Rational agents is agents which has a clear preferences, models uncertainty via expected values, and always chooses to perform the action that results in the optimal outcome from all the feasible actions. Their actions depend on their preferences, their information of the current situation; which may come from past experiences, the actions, duties and obligations available and the estimated or actual benefits that the agents can get after the actions. In reality, however, agents......

Global Adventures of Colgate Palmolive

...many countries all over the world, but international marketing is not a simple activity that can be successfully applied by very firm. First, to achieve success in international marketing activities, a company should consider economic, social and cultural facts about the countries which the firm plans to expand its activities to. These facts are extremely important because they have a great impact on the demand for a certain product. William M. Pride and O.C. Ferrell states that “the effects of environmental forces on customers and marketers can be dramatic and difficult to predict” (pp.6). This results in the need for a reliable and carefully developed marketing research. A company should conduct marketing researches to bring down the level of uncertainty and risk to minimum, by acquiring true and accurate information about the environmental forces. Thus marketing research, environmental scanning and analysis are crucial for a company which involves in international marketing activities. And finally the choice of the level of commitment plays an important role on the success of international firms. A company considering marketing in a foreign nation may prefer expansion through a joint venture or a trading company rather than direct ownership, if there are many uncertainties about the marketing environment of that country. Colgate-Palmolive is a good example of the companies which are successful in international marketing and its success is a result of its expansion strategy...
