This week assignment was to complete 6 different questionnaires about you on topics related to the reading. After completion of the unit reading and rating of the questionnaires I will give a summary of what I came to realize and my scores on the questionnaires. This will allow you to get an idea of what I have learned about fitness and how it relates to everyone differently and how it related to me. It will be a brief summary but it is what I feel is the most important part of this assignment.
Upon completion of these questionnaires and the weekly reading I learned a lot about myself and where I am physically. One thing that caught my eye was how the book talked about the different stages of motivational readiness for change and how we move through them. After reading about this and doing the questionnaires I realize that I was in stage 3 “Doing some physical activity” (Marcus & Forsyth, 2009 p. 15). That meant a lot to me because recently I start going to the gym again and also the fact that I was making progress in a healthier direction. I knew I was making the right choice by going to the gym but would get frustrated because I was not going 5 days a week and was not seeing the results I wanted but this showed me I was making progress in the cognitive section of the stages. So it lifted my spirits a bit more and gave me more motivation to keep going. Questionnaire 4.1 and processes of change and this was 40 questions about my level of physical activity over the last month or so. I realize that I do stay active for some part of my life but I do not go above and beyond in ensuring that I stay active. I do not set up reminders or make my work out time appointments like some

Flourish: a Visionary New Understanding of Happiness and Well-Being

...Flourish: A Visionary New Understanding of Happiness and Well-Being Question 1: What alternatives to cosmetic depression drugs do you think would be effective and how could universities apply them to depressed students? In Flourish, Martin Seligman describes two forms of medication: cosmetic drugs and curative drugs. He further explains that insurance companies can only reimburse brief treatments because a complete cure generally implies more time and cost. As a result, Seligman concludes, all psychopharmacopoeai drugs are cosmetic, palliative, and only temporary fixes. Thus, the use of positive psychology in the treatment of depressed patients is even more important. One tactic that could help in the betterment of college students is the use of a “Gratitude Visit.” In this exercise, an individual is encouraged to think of a single person who helped them in some way, but was never properly thanked. Next, the individual must write a letter of gratitude to this person, being thorough and specific in their examples of how this person influenced and affected the individual’s life. Finally, the individual must call this person and arrange for a meeting, face-to-face. At this meeting, they will read the letter, slowly and carefully, allowing a discussion of the content and their response to follow. What is the benefit of this practice? Seligman argues the results will lead the individual to happiness and less depression within a month. Among college students, this influence...

Experiment Results Correlated Graphs. Group A Fitness App Usage Academic Essay Fitness in today’s culture is affected in many different ways, one of the main in which it is influenced is through the form of media. The term fitness holds two meanings: first is the condition of the physicality of being fit and healthy and the other, the ability of being physically suited to fulfill given tasks or roles(Google Dictionary. 2013). For example fitness to a marathon runner would be determined on their stamina and the duration it takes to run a certain number of miles, whereas a body builder’s level of fitness would determine on their level of muscular strength and power. Once the term fitness has been defined, then the impact which media has on fitness must be analyzed. With an ever growing culture of viral connection dieting, where we can share our efforts with our friends and the public using the internet and other applications, as a society and culture the way in which we visualize fitness and health is changing and developing. The Effect of Adolescents’ Participation in Sports Towards Their Self-Esteem

...Title The effect of adolescents’ participation in sports towards their self-esteem INTRODUCTION Background As we all know, people who do more sport activities can improve the physical health and mental health. Over half of the respondents failed the standard of the ‘baseline indicator’ of physical activity level (Hong Kong Government, 2009). The standard of Baseline indicator is defined by National Association of Sport and Physical Education and US Center for Disease Control. For adolescents conducted at least three days per week and for at least 20 minutes a day of moderate physical activity (Hui, et al, 2009). However, only 60% of adolescents in Hong Kong doing the exercise at least 20 minutes of moderate physical in three days per week in 2008 (LCSD, 2011).It is worthwhile to compare with low participation sport, middle participation sport and high participation sport. Adolescents’ self-esteem is another key of the phenomenon which is needed to focus on. Hong Kong children regarded as lack of confidence. Chan (2000) explored nearly half of 360 children have lower self-esteem, 31% with medium level of self-esteem and 22% represented higher. Moreover, YMCA associated with the Guangzhou City, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macao Youth Research Institute (2001) claimed that 40% of secondary school students in Hong Kong ‘fail’ in self-confidence because Hong Kong society emphasis on academic achievement more than extracurricular activities. Athos Technology has developed wearable smart clothing with the distinct ability to measure muscle activity through the use of EMG sensors embedded in the clothing. The company currently offers a limited number of items in its men’s and women’s lines. Through analysis of the fitness apparel and wearable technology markets, we found that there was a clear void in the market that Athos would be uniquely positioned to fill. We found that the wearable technology market is on the rise, with profits expected to reach over $11bn by 2020. Taking a closer look at what drove sales in the fitness apparel industry, we concluded that our client could see increased sales if they introduced a line of full-length compression smart pants. Additionally, given the role that the fusion of fashion and function has played in the growth of the fitness apparel market, we recommended that our client pay particularly attention to the design of the leggings for both male and female consumers. Interviews and surveys were conducted to ascertain an appropriate price point for this product and it was determined that Athos should price the leggings at $175...
