Unit 2 Research Paper 1: Experiment
Problem Solving Theory

My SOLUTIONS to STOP and PREVENT bullying
1.) STOP bullying...
Parents should change the way they parent their children at home
If you see someone that is being bullied, tell an authority figure
Be confident
Ignore the bully and walk away
Do not engage in fights
When in an uncomfortable situation, have friends to back you up. Your strength is in numbers.
Find friends that share your interests or have also been bullied. A great way to make new friends is by sharing something in common with others. You can make new friends by getting involved in school and extracurricular activities.
2.)To PREVENT bullying from starting...
Start a friendship club
Compliment Week (Make people feel good about themselves)
Have a "Sit with Someone you Don't Know Day" and meet new people and make new friends
Take pledge to stop bullying
Hold school assemblies informing students of what bullying is
Counselors (Talk to counselors about what can be done to prevent people from bullying)
Donate to Anti-Bullying Organizations

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. What Schools Can Do To Stop Bullying:
Hold assemblies showing students how to deal with bullying. Also show the consequences.
Hire professional therapists to help students cope with bullying.
Have a "bully hotline" where students can share their problems with school councilors/therapists anonymously via their phone.
Always have a friendly/mature faculty that can resolve the issues regarding bullying within the school.
Teach children from their first days in school that bullying is NEVER the answer.
Be open to having confrontational meetings between bullies and their victims under the supervision of a school councilor/therapist.
Encourage students to form clubs and organizations on campus that will raise awareness of bullying.
Encourage students to share problems if they have any.
Do not be too stringent on students when it comes to bullying, but put enough priority on the subject in order to prevent it.
In case of a suicide or homicide resulting from bullying, the school should calm students down and use the dreadful incident as a reminder to students of the consequences of bullying.
4. What Parents Can Do To Stop Bullying:
Children are usually reluctant to speak with parents about bullying at school. That is why parents should start teaching children from an earlier age that actually sharing feelings with your parents helps a lot.
Parents should be loving when their children seem to have been or have been bullied.
Start a tradition at the dinner table by having everyone share information about their day.
If a parent finds out that their child has been bullied at school, the best thing to do is to teach the child how to cope with the problem by confronting or even ignoring the bully.
If coping with the bullying does not work for the child, it is maybe time for the parent to contact the school for more assistance with the consent of the child at first.
If the child still experiences problems and does not want the school to get involved, it is time to contact the school without the child's consent.
ONLY if things become tragic and escalate out of control, shall the parents transfer the child to another school.
5. What Kids Can Do To Stop Bullying:
Children should try to express themselves through speech and not violence with the help and guidance of adults.
If faced with bullying, the BEST thing one can do is "kill them with kindness".
Ignoring bullies also works sometimes.
Getting involved in school and extracurricular activities to make new friends who share your same interests. The more friends you have and the more often you spend time with them, the less often you will be bullied.
Becoming friends with someone who has been bullied by the same person.
Trying to be confident and standing for oneself at first is a great solution to the problem.
If the confidence is not helping, please seek help from an adult at school or at home.
Start a club or organization at school to raise awareness for bullying.

...Unit 2. Lab 1: Cloud Computing Research With Amazon, you get anywhere between 5GB and 1TB depending upon how much you’d like to pay for the privilege. Amazon passes on to you the financial benefits of Amazon’s scale. You pay a very low rate for the compute capacity you actually consume. To use Amazon EC2, you simply: * Select a pre-configured, templated Amazon Machine Image (AMI) to get up and running immediately. Or create an AMI containing your applications, libraries, data, and associated configuration settings. * Configure security and network access on your Amazon EC2 instance. * Choose which instance type(s) you want, then start, terminate, and monitor as many instances of your AMI as needed, using the web service APIs or the variety of management tools provided. * Determine whether you want to run in multiple locations, utilize static IP endpoints, or attach persistent block storage to your instances. * Pay only for the resources that you actually consume, like instance-hours or data transfer. With Google, it’s a little more complicated. There didn't used to be a single locker but now the Big G has taken care of that one with the launch of the Google Drive. You get 5GB of space plus 1GB of Picasa storage for free along with any space in your Docs and Gmail section. There's an apparent maximum storage space on the Google Drive itself up to 100GB but you can rent more space from Google if you have a Google Apps account up to a total of 16TB. On...

...Cindy Vargas GS 1140 Unit 2 Research Paper 1 The issue that I want to bring to the table is that our prisons in the United States are filling quickly with repeat offenders. If there was a way to rehabilitate the prisoners why not take it? It would appear from the research that I’ve done that our prison system is geared more towards punishment than rehabilitation. Throughout this paper I will discuss the program I think we need to help reduce the overcrowding of prisons and the return of previous criminals. The Department of Justice data shows that around 730 in every 100, 000 people are incarcerated in the U.S. We currently have 2.2 million people behind bars equal to the size of Houston, Tx. (Natasha Lennard, 2012). My proposition is to adopt the Israeli rehabilitation program into our justice system. Israel is a small country of a population at about 8 million people. This small country has 32 prisons and only estimated 18, 000 people incarcerated. Their recidivism of repeat offender rates are amongst the lowest in the word (Matt Lebovic, 2012). At Hermon prison in Galilee still has the same security measures that you expect from a prison. The way that they treat the inmates and the way the inmates interact with each other is what makes this program so special. The inmates aren’t called inmates they are called “residents”, they walk around the prison as if were a college campus. The unrestricted access to each other is what helps them integrate back into society.......

Disk Redundancy Research Assignment Overview: Using the Internet and the ITT Tech Virtual Library, research the following questions, and provide your thoughts on each one. Submit your answers in a Word Document and ensure that you cite any resources you utilized with the proper APA format. 1. What does RAID stand for? RAID stands for Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks 2. When would we use RAID? 3. Define the following types of RAID: a.RAID 0: Striped Set -- A RAID 0 setup splits data evenly across two or more disks. It is important to note that RAID 0 was not one of the original RAID levels, and is not redundant. If one drive goes down your server will need to be restored from backup b. RAID 1 Mirrored Set -- A Raid 1 setup creates an exact copy (or mirror) of data on two or more disks. A typical setup just has two drives that are setup to mirror data. If one drive goes down your server will still be functional until a scheduled drive replacement can be installed. c. RAID 5 Striped Set with Parity -- A RAID 5 setup uses block-level striping with parity data distributed across all disks in the RAID Array. This means you can have one drive fail and your server will remain functional until a scheduled drive replacement can be installed. RAID 5 also increases read/write speeds while using the available disk space efficiently. d. RAID 6 Similar to RAID 5 but not as widely used, RAID 6 performs either two parity......

...GS1140 Unit 2 Research Paper 1: Experiment You are a supervisor in an office setting and you have noticed tension growing amongst your staff members. The problems have become apparent not only to other employees but to the customers as well. For fear of damaging the business’ reputation and in turn this affecting sales, it is necessary for you to investigate the situation further and to restore a pleasant work environment. To begin you must establish a plan of action. First identify the main source of the problem. Interview all parties knowledgeable of the situation. Be sure to take note of comments and suggestions given by staff members during your one-on-one interviews. Often those close to the situation have great insight on how to end such conflicts. Once you have conducted your investigation determine the level of priority this situation deserves. Ask yourself if this is low priority, meaning something that can possibly work itself out or is it a situation that needs prompt attention and an immediate solution implemented. Consider if the problem may be solved amongst staff or perhaps a third-party intervention may be necessary. Remember, you have to work with the individuals, so it might be necessary to involve a third-party. When you have planned your course of action, it is time to bring everyone together and inform them of your solution. Remember to remain calm, communicate effectively, be fair and use good management skills. Once you have given set......

...Unit 2 Assignment 1: Disk Redundancy Research December 14, 2013 1) What does RAID stand for? RAID stands for? RAID stands for Redundant Array of Independent Disks. 2) When would we use RAID? RAID can be used by either individual users or large network users to store data across multiple locations to increase fault tolerance. 3) Define the following types of RAID: a) RAID 0 b) RAID 1 c) RAID 5 d) RAID 6 RAID 0 | Strips data without redundancy. Provides faster performance, but it lacks fault tolerance. | RAID 1 | Known as disk mirroring. This method doesn’t strip data, it saves all data intact across at least two disks to provide fault tolerance. | RAID 5 | Uses rotating parity to store data. There is do data duplication, but the parity data can be used to reconstruct data. Mostly used by large organizations for data that is not performance sensitive. | RAID 6 | Same as RAID 5, but adds another parity scheme to increase fault tolerance. | 4) Why is RAID 0 of any use if it offers no redundancy? RAID 0 allows data to be broken up in order to allow faster access to data. 5) Why do you think that RAID 1 can be the most expensive? Why would people utilize it if it’s so costly? RAID 1 can be the most expensive because it requires an entire drive to make a duplicate of any data and the more copies you want, the more drives you need. People still use is because it makes complete copies of data, not partial ones. The complete copies allow......

...1 Unit 2 Research Paper 1: Experiment By: Freddy Prince Dijor ITT-GS1140 Summer Quarter Mr. Edmundo Zevallos Ezevallos@itt-tech.edu 2 Unit 2 Research Paper 1: Experiment The problem I would like to solve is one that every American driver has experienced. The problem is: how to waste less time waiting at the DMV? There are many possible solutions, but the one I choose to test is: by making all DMV services available online, with only a limited number of physical DMV locations and services available. Modern technology maximizes operations while reducing associated costs. (Hanington, 2012, p.43). The first step in order to test if this solution is appropriate is to look at cost viability. How cost efficient and practical will it be to conduct operations entirely online? Some costs, such as staffing and building utilities will go down, but other costs like web developers and advanced software will occur. I think the data will be in favor of online business. According to the Financial Planning Info Guide, service usage and profitability is higher for online businesses, while the costs for content and production, distribution and service is lower for online businesses than traditional ones (2013). Another step is to test if going completely online is an appropriate solution is to look at the market for it. Surveys and interviews can determine how many DMV patrons are internet savvy, or if the majority of DMV patrons have a preference for online or in-person service....

I say this because even if you ride public transportation it’s not available in every location, so you may still be in some type of traffic getting to your pick up location. Another reason I say toll roads is your can control the routes you go verses public transportation there may not be a direct route. ...Unit 2 Research Paper 1: Global Warming During the last fifty years, two environmental issues have received significant attention: global warming and the hole in the ozone layer. As scientists have investigated these two environmental phenomena some have made some effort to show that these two effects are somehow related. In this research paper I will further elaborate on their relationship. Ozone high in the atmosphere absorbs ultraviolet radiation from the sun, thereby protecting living organisms below from this dangerous radiation. The term ‘ozone hole’ refers to recent depletion of this protective layer over Earth's Polar Regions. People, plants, and animals living under the ozone hole are harmed by the solar radiation now reaching the Earth's surface—where it causes health problems from eye damage to skin cancer. In the 1980s, scientists discovered that the ozone layer was thinning in the lower stratosphere, with particularly dramatic ozone loss known as the ozone hole in the Antarctic springtime. This is caused by increasing concentrations of ozone-depleting chemicals in the stratosphere that come from spray cans and refrigerants. These long-lived chlorofluorocarbons or CFCs (chemical compounds with chlorine and/or fluorine attached to carbon) remain in the atmosphere for decades to over a century depending on the CFC. At the poles CFCs attach to ice particles. When the sun comes out again in the polar spring, the ice particles melt, releasing the ozone-depleting......

...Unit 2: Research Paper 1 GS1140 The speed limit is 65 mph and I’m at a stand-still! Why must this happen every morning and afternoon? Traffic will always be an ongoing problem. The more the population grows, the more congested our roads get with more vehicles. Besides leaving hours before traffic starts to avoid traffic jams there has to be another solution. Some solutions include: employee parking cash-out, tolls for single use carpool lanes, and tolls during high peak hours on freeways. An employee cash-out can reduce the amount of vehicles on the road by giving an incentive not to drive (Bullokk, 2011). Companies would give a certain amount each month to the employee who participates in the program. Through data mining, the decrease in the demand of parking can be obtained. The information needed to gather this would be: the number off employees in the program, the financial incentive amount, and the amount of time the incentives were given at separate but equal intervals (Bullock, 2011). A decrease in cars on the road would limit the amount of traffic on the road and also free up precious parking space. Tolls for single use carpool lanes will also benefit in decreasing traffic. The carpool lane is mostly always free of traffic during rush hours which is good for carpoolers, but also counter intuitive. The carpool lane turns into a wasted lane if people are not taking advantage of carpooling. Sensors can be placed in cars to automatically charge the fare for...

...Unit 1 Research Paper 1: Paradigm Shift Introduction In the past, virtual reality technology was thought of by many as a gimmick, and the hope for it to become a mainstream technology was discarded as products did not work as how the public envisioned. However, the proper technology is now available to make virtual reality just that: a reality. The entertainment industry is on the verge of a monumental paradigm shift that will completely transform the way these entertainment mediums are experienced. The typical experience of video games is one with a controller with joysticks that are used to control where the playable character is looking along with a monitor or television screen in front of the player. Today, this scenario is so typical that the detachment between the player and what is happening on the screen is something considered to be normal in the experience. In the next couple years however, this detachment will be largely erased as working virtual reality headsets become available to consumers across the world. Summary of Key Findings One notable product in the field of virtual reality technology is the Oculus Rift. What makes this product and others like it different from the virtual reality fad that permeated the entertainment industry a few decades ago? The Rift uses 360 degree low latency head tracking, an integral part of the complete virtual experience. In previous VR headsets, the latency, or delay, between a player’s head movement and the visual......
