After reading the scenario about the Sandwhich Blitz Inc Case I learned about their strengths, weaknesses, Opportunities and threats that the business faces if
Dalman and Lei expand their business. Dalman and Lei strengths are their attitude towards their business, and team cooperation. I chose attitude as one of their strengths because you should have a positive attitude about everything you do or try to do. When managing your business there are many challenges that employees face on a daily basis. A positive attitude is a key component to a successful career. I think that Dalman and Lei are positive individuals and they are team players that know how to collaborate with other their staff. I also chose team cooperation for Dalman and
Lei strengths. The reason I chose team cooperation as their strength because in order to run a successful business and agree with ideas such as expanding the business,
Dalman and Lei should have team cooperation so they want feel as if they are alone in deciding or going through with expanding their building. Everyone should be on the same page with no regrets in order to have a successful business. There is not “I” in team. Dalman and Lei needs to stick together in order to expand their business.
Dalman and Lei opportunity is expanding their business so they make more money and Dalman and Lei can make more decision of what they want to do if expanding their business become a success. Dalman and Lei weakness are not having enough money to expand their business. In order to expand their business they should be financially stabled and have back up money just in case something goes wrong.
Finally, Dalman and Lei threats will be the other business that is in the area where
Dalman and Lei want to expand to. Dolaman and Lei should carefully pick their destination on where they want their…...

...UNIT 3 INDIVIDUAL PROJECT MKTG205 – Principles of Marketing by Kendra M Hutchins AIU Online October 21 2012 Going into business is good only if you sell your product. In order to sell your product, you have to make your product available to consumers. With making your product available, you need a distribution plan established. There are different channel levels and organizations. You also have to analyze your target market's needs and decide which channel members you will use. There are many characteristics you will have to look at before you choose a channel organization. Either choice will be good, as long as management decides on what is best for the company. First, our coffee company has to set up its distribution channels. Management has to look at direct versus and indirect distribution. Direct distribution is defined as a, “model used by organizations to move products from production to buyer without the use of wholesalers and retailers. By eliminating the number of parties involved in the distribution process, significant savings can be realized. An organization using direct distribution must sell and distribute that product using their own warehouses and sales staff.” ( www.businessdictionary.com) Direct is a good option for our new coffee company because we can lower or cost of distribution. We will need to keep our cost under our budget. Indirect distribution on the other hand is when, “a chain of intermediaries through which a product......

Dalman and Lei

...Dalman and Lei must focus their attention on the sudden rush of customers throughout all of their locations. Because of the sudden rush, Sandwich Blitz employees have been inputting incorrect orders which would lower customer satisfaction. To counteract such problems, Dalman and Lei have decided to install an e-customer ordering system so that employees will feel less overwhelmed. By applying Kotter’s Eight Steps to Leading Change, it will modernize all of the locations with the new change. Step one establishes a sense of urgency. In other words, Dalman and Lei need to quickly install the new ordering system to minimize ordering errors. Step two creates a guiding coalition, a group of people to lead the change. By the e-mails sent to all of the managers, it is letting them know to be prepared to make the change; which will increase customer satisfaction with the new ordering system. Step three develops vision and strategy. It speaks for itself, have an end goal and a strategy to reach the end goal; reduce ordering errors. Step four communicates the change vision, meaning every channel and opportunity is used to reinforce the vision. Dalman and Lei must make it understanding with all employees what the vision and end goal is. Step five empowers broad-based actions removes anything in the way of the end goal. Therefore, if employees are causing the ordering errors, simply replace them with electronic ordering systems. Step six generates short term wins to slowly work towards......

Dalman & Lee Unit 8

...140: Introduction to Management Unit 8 Assignment   Integrity and Leadership are issues that Dalman is currently facing in Sandwich Blitz. New laws for the health codes have been put in place in one of their locations. Currently they do not meet the rules for the placement of the dumpster. The government zoning inspector is willing to turn a blind eye to violation in exchange for Sandwich Blitz to supply food for his company’s holiday parties. Dalman needs to use some integrity in this situation. After reading the Eight Steps in “Rethinking Integrity,” by Sherman, I believe there are definite integrity steps that Dalman should choose to follow here. Doing the right thing is the first of the eight steps of integrity that Sandwich Blitz should incorporate. Doing the right thing means having a clear understand of what is right and wrong. A good leader has good values. He leads his employees by example. In this situation Dalman needs to obey the rules. In the long run it won’t benefit him to violate this health code. The dumpster needs to be moved back the extra food that is required. These codes are set in place for a reason. In this case it is a health issue. Dalman wants his company to have a good reputation and also he wants his employees to follow the rules as well. One leads by example and in this case doing the right thing shows the employees they should not cut corners or violate laws set in place either. Dalman will need to take responsibility...

Hill Sr. Sandwich Blitz Inc. is a strong striving business that is having some difficulties adapting to change with technology. However there are strong commitments with managers to adapt and overcome to expand the business. Organizational leaders often perform a SWOT analysis, which measures a business’s internal strengths and weaknesses and external opportunities and threats (Nickels, McHugh, & McHugh,2010). Factors are considered both fixed and variable, and give the organization the opportunity to identify areas for improvement and advancement. Dalman and Lei are dealing with a problem regarding their current technology usage. Dalman and Lei are dealing with pressure to adopt new technology and implement it in a very short amount of time. Unit 3

...UNIT 3 P1- Identify the difference between start-up and operating costs, variable and fixed costs. Introduction I have started this unit talking amongst my classmates discussing the differences between theses costs start-up, operating, variable and fixed costs. In this unit I will be explaining the differences between them. Define start-up costs, operating costs, fixed costs and variable costs Start-up costs- it means if the start-up costs are incurred before a business can start to operate, such as the deposit on rented property, and the purchase of equipment and initial stock. Operating costs- refers to the money that is spent when the business is running, it is the everyday costs. Fixed costs- costs that will not charge regardless of how much the business sells. Fixed costs are costs that do not vary depending on production or sales levels. Variable costs- these costs are linked to the number of items sold. A cost that is directly proportional to the volume of output produced. When production is zero, the variable cost is equal to zero. Explain the difference start-up and operating costs provide examples of each Start up costs are the things you are going to need to get the business going i.e. premises, furniture, IT, registration with local authorities, stock / materials etc. These are mainly one off payments that do not reoccur. Operation costs are the day to day costs of running the business usually calculated in terms of monthly or......

Unit 3

...Thomas Whittemore Unit 3 Post University 1. How can Unions secure economic gains? Explain the ramifications Unions help economic growth, and they do not hinder them. Unions are out fighting for workers and getting them high pay and better pension benefits. This all translates into money that can be spent into a market economy. The more people buy products, the stronger and more powerful the economy becomes for everybody. To clarify - real unions are as important just as police, teachers, doctors etc. are necessary. Unfortunately in the US very few or none exist. Working men and woman who have fought and sacrificed for this country are the ones that have purchased true freedom and deserve to have voice 2. Briefly explain why organized labor was opposed to NAFTA. There has been significant opposition to NAFTA from organized labor. Unionists say NAFTA harms workers both here and in Mexico by taking U.S. jobs away and intensifying the exploitation of Mexican workers. Nearly half a million Mexicans already work in "maquiladoras" where over 1,500 mostly U.S.-owned assembly plants operate free of taxes and tariffs. Only about 10 percent are organized, compared to 25 percent of Mexican workers overall. Average pay runs from 50 cents to a dollar an hour. NAFTA will only intensify this exploitation as it lures corporations to set up runaway shops. Yet much of the opposition to NAFTA has been drawn on narrow lines and lets the capitalist system off the......

Dalman and Lei Unit 2

...Sociotechnical Systems Theory, Quantitative Management, Organizations Theory, and System Theory approaches and Macro, Internal, and Competitive environments all have their place and relevance to managing a business. Some are more helpful than others and can be a great asset to building a business and some seem to lack importance or stability. Which ones are best for certain situation depends on what business a person is in and what position they are holding at the current time and place in the business. There are differences between the four contemporary approaches to management. Sociotechnical Systems Theory is different from the other approaches in that it deals with the people or human side of business. Human interactions and interpersonal relationships are considered in the decision making process. The people are handled more hands-on and allows people to correct any mistakes or problems early on. Quantitative Management is unique from the other approaches because it deals mostly with management issues in a mathematical way. Though there seem to be issues with this because most problems that arise cannot be solved in a mathematical way as in dealing with a management issue that an employee is misbehaving or not completing work on time. Organizations Theory differs from the other approaches as it is more cause and effect. How the manager treats the employee is how the employee will in turn act or work. If a manager does not know what they are doing or does not train......

Dalman and Lei

...unit 4 Assignment Levels of Management 1. How would creating a new position between the CEO and the location managers help the business to grow? Creating a new position would help the business because it would take some of the pressure off the CEO and CFO. With the new position being between the CEO and location manager, the CEO can concentrate more on the company as a whole and not be stretched to handle many locations. The new position can handle the businesses directly without having to always interrupt Dalman. Dalman can focus more on what he needs to do in order to expand the business and make it better. 2. Is promoting an existing manager the best option to fill this position? If not, what is an alternative source to fill the position? Promoting a manager that has already been with the company for a while would be a great idea. This person already knows how the company works and what it needs as far as locational needs go. A manager that has already been with the company knows its operations and what needs to be done where it comes to the different locations. Promoting someone who doesn’t know anything about the company would take more training which means Dalman and Lei would have to take time out to train the new person. They are already stretched for time and don’t have time to train an outsider. So to alleviate some of the extra training they would have to do, just promoting a manager within the company would be better. 3. Who within the......

Dalman and Lei

...Dalman and Lei have started a successful business in Sandwich Blitz, Inc. Before making their decision as to whether they should consider a small expansion or something on a larger scale, they should consider the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats for the good of the company. First, Dalman and Lei have strengths in their business as far as it seems they are good business people, being loyal, considerate, and aware of their employees and customers needs and wants. They take time out of their day from running the day to day business functions, to go to every store and look at the needs and wants, along with issues of employees and customers. This ensures quality control, that everyone remains satisfied and happy. Second, their strength could turn in to a weakness by deciding to expand, because they are maintaining the control of the managers and employees themselves. They could hire managers, who have the experience to take this duty upon his or her self so they could concentrate more on the expansion. They also have to take in to consideration they will need to focus on hiring more employees along with the other duties of expanding. Third, the opportunity to expand could bring more profit and they could consider the ability to turn the company in to a franchise. Even though it is a time of economic downturn, their shops are bringing a profit and they are already known in the area. They could also consider offering specials and prices that other......

...SWOT Analysis for Sandwich Blitz Dalman and Lei are considering a large-scale expansion for their business, Sandwich Blitz. In order to come to the right conclusion they need to do a SWOT analysis which means finding a strength, weakness, opportunity and threat in regards to their business. By performing a SWOT analysis Dalman and Lei will be able to find factual information about their internal and external business environment. Then they will be able to take advantage of opportunities presented to them by playing on their strengths, correcting their weaknesses and counter acting threats, or those deemed potential. The first part of doing the SWOT analysis is to identify one strength and one weakness in regards to Sandwich Blitz’s internal resources. Sandwich Blitz’s strength is that they have a positive cash flow and Lei knows that they have enough money to open two new locations. Even though she mentions that there has been a decrease in traffic in the stores near the office parks they are still making a profit. Their weakness is their internal structure is not functioning correctly at the moment. Dalman and Lei are spending the majority of their time helping the managers with budgeting and the daily accounting process. These are things the managers should be doing themselves without Dalman and Lei’s help. The second part of doing the SWOT analysis is to identify one opportunity and one threat in regards to Sandwich Blitz’s external environment. Sandwich Blitz......

Lei Discussion 3

...Recently, I received a request to perform an x-ray on a patient who was newly admitted to the hospital’s intensive care unit. After explaining that I was there to perform an x-ray of her chest, her first remark was that she did not want to have another x-ray because she had an hour before in her doctor’s office. She was adamant about the fact that we should be able to view the image that she had in the doctor’s office within the hospital. I responded that because the exam was done in the doctor’s office and not the hospital, her physician would be unable to gain access to the image or results of the exam. Unfortunately, she was not thrilled with my answer and refused the exam. This example is one reason why the patient’s information should be recorded electronically. Legislation passed during the Bush administration which requires an electronic health record (EHR) to be established for all Americans by 2014(Hebda& Czar, 2009). An EHR can be defined as a “digital collection of patient’s medical history and could include items like diagnosed medical conditions, prescribed medications, vital signs, immunizations, lab results, and personnel characteristics like age and weight”(Hebda& Czar, 2009,page 295). The electronic record would replace the current method of recording patient data which is the paper chart. The data in the paper chart is compiled of handwritten entries and other printed documents (Englebert &Nelson 2002). In my dealings with paper charts, I have often......
