Unit 8
Assignment 1
Video Summary 6
VIDEO #3.01
Topics:
* Microsoft Operating Systems * Other Operating Systems
Terms:
* DOS – Disk Operating System is an acronym for several closely related operating systems that dominated the IBM PC compatible market between 1981 and 1995 * UNIX - is a family of multitasking, multiuser computer operating systems that derive from the original AT&T UNIX. * Command Line Interface - also known as command-line user interface, console user interface, and character user interface (CUI), is a means of interacting with a computer program where the user issues commands to the program in the form of successive lines of text (command lines).
Summary:
The video taught me that everything that was developed after series 9x of operating systems is built on the NT platform. Also the NT did not have a device manager or a hardware wizard as well as not supporting plug and play. I also learned that Linux was developed by a Finnish student named Linus Torvalds. This information is not really useful for me its old information that for me has no value unless I want to be a technology historian.

VIDEO #3.02
Topics:
* Partitioning * Creating Partitions * Create/Delete Partitions
Terms:
* Partition - In personal computers, a partition is a logical division of a hard disk created so that you can have different operating systems on the same hard disk or to create the appearance of having separate hard drives for file management, multiple users, or other purposes. * FAT - File Allocation Table is a computer file system architecture and a family of industry-standard file systems utilizing it. * NTFS - New Technology File System, The primary Windows file system, starting with Windows NT. NTFS is required to implement various security and administrative features in Windows.
Summary:
I learned in this video that there are two type of partitions. That being primary partition and extended and if you’re using the FAT file system you may only create 1 primary partition and 1 extended partition. If you’re using the NTFS file system you may create 4 primary partitions or 3 primary and 1 extended partitions. This video may be useful to eliminate answers in a test or may be useful for my electrical engineering job. The confusing thing of this video are the acronyms or abbreviations and memorizing them.

VIDEO #3.03
Topics:
* Active Partition * System Vs Boot
Terms:
* Boot Partition – A boot partition is a disk partition responsible for holding Windows system files when booting up Windows. * Active Partition - An active partition is a partition on a hard drive set as the bootable partition that contains the operating system. * Extended Partition - A partition is a logically independent section of a hard disk drive (HDD).
Summary:
I learned in this video that Active Partition is also called System Partition. The System Partition boots the computer and contains boot and system files. The Boot Partition boots loads Operating System. This information may be useful when trying to pass this class or maybe in the near future in my 6 figure yearly salary job. There was nothing really confusing for me in this video I think it could benefit me.

Unit 8
Assignment 1
Video Summary 6
VIDEO #3.04
Topics:
* Low Level Formatting * High Level Formatting * Cluster
Terms:
* Sectors – In computer disk storage, a sector is a subdivision of a track on a magnetic disk or optical disc. * Master Boot Record – A master boot record MBR is a special type of boot sector at the very beginning of partitioned computer mass storage devices like fixed disks or removable drives intended for use with IBM PC-compatible systems and beyond. * FAT 16 – The FAT used for most older systems, used a 16-bit binary number to hold cluster numbers. A volume using FAT16 can hold a maximum of 65,526 clusters, FAT16 was used for hard disk volumes ranging in size from 16 MB to 2,048 MB. VFAT is a variant of FAT16. * FAT 32 - This strange term refers to the way Windows stores data on your hard drive. "FAT" stands for "File Allocation Table," which keeps track of all your files and helps the computer locate them on the disk. * NTFS - is a journaling file system that can recover from disk errors more readily than the earlier FAT32 file system. It also supports the Unicode character set and long file names (up to 255 characters).
Summary:
This video taught me about how low level formatting is done at the factory where the tracks and sectors are laid down on the hard drive. Each sector is 512 bytes per sector. The MBR contains the partition table and the master boot program. The video didn’t confuse me at all I understood every detail. The information that I acquired with this video is useful for repairing computers and learning how the components work.

...Corey Young Monday The first part of this video was talking about the history of the operating systems. The Microsoft OS were DOS that had a GUI interface, after that you had NT, 9x, 2000, XP, Vista which in my opinion was terrible, server 2003 and 2008. There are also other OS that have been out Unix and Linux is what Macintosh are built from and then you also have Mac OS X. Video 3.02 was talking about installing new hard ware, creating partitions and formatting partitions, and installing OS systems. Before you install an OS system after installing a new hard drive you need to create and format a partition which will be an c partitions. There are two types of partitions which are primary and extended. You can only create one of each with the FAT file system. The NTFS you can create four primary partitions or three primaries and one extended. In creating partitions you need to know the order they are created and deleted. The orders to create partitions are first primary then extended and logical. To delete a partition you will simple reverse the order. Video 3.03 is about comparing active, system and boot partitions. After creating partitions you need to mark one active which usually contains the boot file so you can start up the OS. The system and the boot partitions are part of this system. The system partitions contain boot files which contains the operating system which boots up the OS. The boot partition contains system files which contain the OS files. So the...

By mid 2015, the company had 125 stores along the US East Coast from Florida to Maine. Its annual sales are currently ~$5,400,000,000 with $280,000,000 net income. Unit 5 Assignment 1 Video

...Unit 5 Assignment 1: Video Summary NT1110 There are two major manufactures we use in today’s market which are Intel and AMD. There are some minor competitions but don’t stay on the market for long. The system bus for the CPU is also known as the Front-side bus as it inserts the CPU and has a 64 bit data pass. In the CPU theirs a controller that controls communication between the motherboard and other components with the CPU. The ALU is responsible for performing complex calculations. Communications between the controllers and the ALU’s uses a 32 bit wide internal data bus. A processor is usually measured in GHz. A system Bus is usually measured in MHz and has limiting factors of speed. The multiplier is the ratio between processor and the System bus. The system bus speed x multiplier equals the processor speed. CPU manufactures have come up with different ways to make the CPU work faster. Two multi-processing requires multiple processors (In other words your system must be designed to support more than one CPU on a single motherboard). Dual Core Processors have been recently developed, that means incorporating multiple processors with multiple ALU’s inside a CPU. These ALU’s process their information individually. There’s two cache memory’s which are SRAM and DRAM. SRAM is also called Static RAM, it is faster and more expensive then DRAM, it holds memory without being refreshed and DRAM must be refreshed. There are three types of RAM which are L1 cache, L2 cache, and L3 cache...

...you (for example, coffee drinkers can select Starbucks). This must be an organization that is researchable as you need to gather and analyze a variety of information in order to complete the components of your project. If you select an organization with which you are currently associated, it is important to remember that the various analyses you make during the completion of your project must be based on facts that can be documented rather than your personal opinion as an employee. Each project component requires you to research a different aspect of HRM. In addition to gathering the requisite data from the organization of your choice, you are required to research and employ a minimum of four resources (per assignment) to support the content of each assignment. Examples of acceptable choices include informational interviews, scholarly journals, and white papers from professional organizations such as the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). As you progress through the project and address the different HR issues covered in the class, you continue to broaden your research and expand the number of your supporting sources. You may wish to utilize Capella's Refworks, which is a way to manage your research citations. You can annotate and organize your citations, and create APA-formatted...
