Both companies filled for bankruptcy in the early 2000’s and since then have nursed their company back to health and to becoming the industries leaders for airlines. I choose these two airlines because I frequently use them to travel. My family are also huge travelers and I spend a lot of time looking for the best deals for them. United Airlines filed for bankruptcy in 2002 and would become the longest case in the United States lasting until 2006. The airline was able to get their reorganization plan approved by the United States government by restructuring their management plan. In the restructure they also changed how their bonus plan was organized for successful executives. They also had to evaluate their employee’s efficiency while on the clock. They were able to reduce their workforce from 100,000 employees to half of that. Finally the airline had to revaluate the routes they were taking and then see which......

First, BCRA forbids Citizens United from using its corporate finances to air “electioneering communication” in order to suggest how an observer should vote. Second, if Citizens United achieves the first obligation, BCRA expects Citizens United to expose the personal identities of individuals who gave more than one thousand dollars towards, the creation of The Movie. Each of our three branches of government have expressed their concerns on the issue of what role corporations should represent in politics and, just for a moment, the Court is in an unexpected place with both of the other two branches and with itself. Congress our legislative branch, was the first to speak on the Citizens United case. Vertical scale is logarithmic • Seemingly small movements for high-risk companies can be very substantial. • EDF credit measures are actual probabilities, not credit scores. A company with a current EDF credit measure of 2% has a 2% probability of defaulting within the next twelve months. That is, out of 100 companies with a 2% EDF credit measure, we would expect, on average, that 2 would default over the next twelve months. Also, a company with a 2% EDF credit measure is 10 times more likely to default than a firm with a 0.20% EDF credit measure. United Nations

...United Nations | Intro to Political Science GOVT 2304-23404 Spring 2016 (INET) Word count:729 | Edgar Calvillo | Every year hundreds of young women start the process to pursue their long lived dream of becoming Miss USA. The majority of America watches, even if they deny doing so. During the interviewing segment the candidates are asked “How to solve world peace”. Not to take away from their effort, but it takes much more than a short and well-rehearsed statement along with a pretty smile. The true efforts of world peace lie in the hands of The United Nations, UN. The UN is the world’s second attempt to have a united front to obtain world peace after the failure of the League of Nations. To identify the United Nations true success we must look at what they have attempted. We must not overshadow the good and fair attempts with the failure that have come up. The job these individuals from all around the world have been chosen for is not one to take lightly. Their efforts should be praised but not overlooked. We live in the world where the unexpected is to be expected. For this reason we have certain people put in place to protect are needs. There are 196 delegates from 26 countries who are entrusted to maintain order and peace in our world. The UN was established in 1945 in efforts to keep peace after World War II. This international organization helps us in many ways. The United Nations is involved with political, economic, and human right......

Citizen's United

...#4 The Citizen’s United decision drastically changed the campaign finance landscape. By allowing corporations to donated unlimited amounts of money to a politician’s campaign has opened the flood gates for even more money to be poured into the American political system. The only thing I agree with Samples on is that the act of giving money is a form of expression, but just like there are limits on the freedom of speech, there needs to be limits on campaign contributions. Samples points out that by limiting contributions you’re limiting the amount of ideas one can express, which at its core is correct, but when put into the real world, that argument does not hold up. It’s true that you can express your ideas more when you’re funded with 1 million dollars as oppose to 100k but with corporations that generate profits in the billions, how can it not drown out an individual that can only contribute 100 dollars. This brings up Raskin’s point that corporations should not be counted as a “person” on paper we have given the corporations many of the rights of a “person” for economic and financial reason, which is totally fine. But to extrapolate that to allow them to give unlimited amounts of “speech” aka money to a political candidate is ludicrous. It is naïve to think that the distortion concept of corruption is not happening because corporations can’t give directly to a candidate, but rather their campaign. It is very evident that even before the citizen’s united ruling that major......

United Cereal

...United Cereal: Lora Bill’s Euro brand Challenge Q.1 Should she authorize the launch in France? Ans When analyzing a situation, such as the one presented to us by United Cereal, there are many, many factors to take into account. Lora Brill has been saddled with the decision of whether to make some big changes to a long-term successful company in order to push the growth potential of the company to a whole new level. She has been presented much of the information she needs to make a decision of this magnitude, but with mixed results in past trials of a similar nature, Lora is not sure what to do. The first thing she needs to do before coming to her decision is to really look at the information that is in front of her. Many people make brash financial decisions based on what they feel is right at the time only to later realize their hindsight is 20/20. In other words, people, being imperfect, have a tendency to make illogical decisions based on emotion. They may make a risky investment because they had a good feeling about it, or they may get very excited about a new strategy and let their emotions get the best of them by overlooking obvious logical flaws in that strategy. For Lora, when dealing with a decision of this magnitude, she must make sure that her emotion is not weighing her one way or the other. This can be done by taking a step back and analyzing the data and information that she has and making sure she has not overlooked anything by taking a non-biased approach....

...Description One of my favorite things to eat is breakfast cereal. I have been a cereal eater since I was a kid and have chosen to do my paper on the breakfast cereal industry. The NAICS code is 311320. The SIC code is 2043 Cereal Breakfast Foods. The SIC gives a description of establishments as primarily engaged in manufacturing cereal breakfast foods and related preparations, except breakfast bars. Cereal breakfast foods include: coffee substitutes made grain, hulled corn, farina, granola (except bars and clusters), hominy grits, infant cereal foods, oatmeal, rolled oats, rice breakfast foods and wheat flakes. History Breakfast cereal is one of the most popular forms of breakfast in the United States. Just about all of us have had and enjoyed a bowl of cereal in the morning. The breakfast cereal industry is very profitable and has been around a long time. In 2007, the market value for the industry was $11.2 billion (Datamonitor, 2007). The breakfast cereal was first invented in 1863 by Dr. James Caleb Jackson who made the granula. The granula was a hard wheat that had to soak overnight before it could be eaten. Later the popular Corn Flakes was invented and today there are many varieties of cereal to choose from. There were a number of individuals who made various forms of cereal as a diet for its patients of the Sanitarium in Battle Creek, Michigan. The cereals that were made however were not for mass market. Not until 1906 was there a patent for cereal,......

United State Versus the United Kingdom

...The healthcare systems in the United States and the United Kingdom provide interesting comparisons to one another, especially since the United States is considered private and the United Kingdom has a national health system that supply universal coverage. National health systems are theoretically designed to provide accessible, affordable care for all segments of the population, but critics of such systems often question the quality of that care. Conversely, critics of the United States system often point to the fact that affordable, high quality healthcare is not equally available to all who need it (Blizzard, 2003). The differences that lie between the United States and the United Kingdom are the health plans, the providers, and hospitals. It is not strictly an insurance system because there are no premiums collected, costs are not charged at the patient level and costs are not prepaid form a pool. However, it does achieve the main aim of insurance which is to spread financial risk arising from ill health. The costs of running the National health system, which is approximately 104 billion pounds in 2007-2008, are met directly from general taxation. The National health system provides the majority of healthcare in the United Kingdom, including primary care, in -patient care, long-term care, ophthalmology, and dentistry. In the United Kingdom appointed bodies called primary care trust are responsible for the health of a defined local population. Primary care is typically......
