Life is all about making changes and adapting to new situations. I learned this early on in life because my family moved around a lot. However, the moving did not bother me at all because I have always loved meeting new people and making new friends. I attended a new grade school every year until fourth grade, when my parents decided to settle down in Forest Park. I attended Armstrong Elementary School from fourth through eighth grade. I then attended Forest Park High School and joined the dance team. I was consistently on the Honor Roll.

The only time I did not make the Honor Roll was when; I was dealing with some serious personal issues within my family. My older brother, diagnosed with ADHD since he was three, and hospitalized numerous times, was finally diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. It was such a tremendous amount of pressure, on me and my family that it became difficult to keep up with my schoolwork. We were required to attend family meetings with the hospitals in order to help him and in turn, my grades suffered during that time. In the following quarter, I overcame all of these issues. I got myself back on track with my academics, and made the Honor Roll the next quarter and continued making the Honor Roll through my senior year. I also remained on the dance team ultimately being selected as the team captain during my sophomore year. With all the personal issues I have dealt with since my freshman year, the most important lesson I have learned is perseverance. I learned that with dedication and hard work, anything can be accomplished.

Stressing on all of the things pertaining to my brother, making sure that my grades are up to par, being in extracurricular activities, and just having the pressure of trying to find a four year college that I would love (not like) to attend, has made me a well-rounded person. I also have been able to

...Evan Siegel 05/18/95 My plans to attend the University of Arizona have taken shape like a well-worn path through the woods. The process began when my brother was accepted there in 2010. I got my first glimpse of the amazing campus when he moved into his dorm. Through frequent phone conversations with my brother Alec, I developed a detailed understanding of campus life. Over the past three years, I've also visited him frequently and witnessed first-hand, what it's like to be a student at the University of Arizona. Through these experiences and the research I have conducted, I 'm confident that University of Arizona is a perfect fit for my education goals. A few weeks later, I was back on the campus for freshman weekend. My brother invited me to stay overnight in his dorm, which gave me unforgettable insight into what it is like to attend the University of Arizona. He introduced me to all of his friends, that I still talk to up to this day. The next day, I attended my first college football game. I sat right next to him inside the Zonazoo, with all of his friends. After those two weekends, I was envious of my brother and felt determined to join him at the University of Arizona. These feelings have only intensified with many more campus visits over the last three years. Consequently, I became more focused than ever on my studies and extracurricular activities...

...especially for underdeveloped countries. Policies that make an economy open to trade and investment with the rest of the world are needed for sustained economic growth. The evidence on this is clear. No country in recent decades has achieved economic success, in terms of substantial increases in living standards for its people, without being open to the rest of the world. This problem resonates deeply with me and I hope to someday work on finding solutions. I am convinced that financial sector reform within these countries would inspire the development of steady financial systems as well as the dismantling of barriers to international capital flow. It is for this reason that I am applying to the graduate program in management at Stanford University. I seek the skills and knowledge I need to participate in a doctoral program and pursue a PhD in international finance and economics....

Ucas

...UCAS PERSONAL STATEMENT – Medical and Oxbridge You are required to compile a Personal Statement in support of your application. What you write here is likely to have a huge influence on whether you receive conditional offers from universities. Therefore you need to put time and effort into this to ensure you stand out from other candidates!! How to write the UCAS Personal Statement The Personal Statement is your only opportunity to 'sell yourself' to a university department before being offered a place or an interview. It must stand out and be attractive to read. No purpose is served by cramming everything into a relatively short space, but also you should not write too much and so to prevent this the statement is limited to 4000 characters. You should: 1) Write in complete sentences, and recognise that lists are of limited value. 2) Avoid any information that is misleading, fictitious or trivial. 3) Remember to use clear English together with correct spelling and punctuation. Most of the Personal Statement will reflect your academic and intellectual interests. Throughout, specific examples are far more convincing than general statements, so do not start by saying "I want to read Chemistry (etc) because I am very interested in it." Our advice is to work on the basis of three paragraphs: The First Paragraph - outline clearly the reasons for selecting your courses/subject(s). Explain clearly what it is that excites you about them, and make explicit...

...required: The Personal Statement and the Study/Research Proposal. These essays serve very different but complementary purposes. Unless noted, the following information comes straight from the Fulbright Web site. THE PERSONAL STATEMENT (1 Page) The following information is applicable to both Study/Research and ETA applicants: The Personal Statement should be a narrative giving a picture of you as an individual.  Remember, applicants are not interviewed on the national level. The Personal Statement is your opportunity to “talk” about yourself and to tell the committee more about how you came to this point in your life and where you see yourself in the future.  There is no single “right way” to approach the Statement; rather candidates will consider what they think is important for people reviewing the application to know about them. The Statement can deal with your personal history, family background, influences on your intellectual development, the educational and cultural opportunities (or lack of them) to which you have been exposed, and the ways in which these experiences have affected you.  Also, you may include your special interests and abilities, career plans, and life goals, etc. It should not be a recording of facts already listed on the application or an elaboration of your Statement of Grant Purpose.   It is more of an autobiography, and specifically related to you and your aspirations. Adhere to the following format: • Statement length is limited...
