Twitter is a social networking and microblogging service in which one can connect socially with those around them and, in some cases, meet new people. It also allows you to follow people, organizations, and topics of mutually shared interest. The setup process is user friendly and can be accomplished even by those who are not computer savvy and much easier/less intrusive as other social networking sites. The privacy settings in Twitter are straightforward and simple to setup. Typically, if you create a strong password, use extreme prejudice on who you follow and who you allow to follow you, watch out for suspicious links, and ensure that you’re using the most up-to-date operating system patches and anti-virus definitions you will minimize the threats that could be introduced to your computer or Smartphone through Twitter.

Like Facebook, I have found the site to be a great way to share my thoughts, comments, or ideas with family and friends who live across the country. The 140 character limit takes a little getting comfortable with in addition to Twitterverse etiquette, such as retweets, reposts, and the proper usage of hashtags. I intend to continue using Twitter for communicating with family and connecting with friends. I also love the way famous people and the news media have adopted Twitter allowing access into their lives and breaking news faster than ever before in history.

Although I’ am experienced at using computers and social networking sites, setup was a breeze. I had no issues or problems setting up my account and I’ am positive that anyone can accomplish this process fairly easily regardless of skill level if they have an email address. The process is very user friendly and can be done by anyone. Privacy settings in Twitter are very important. Whether one realizes it or not, the privacy settings are there for the users’ protection.

Within the system, the users are able to present themselves, articulate their social networks, and establish or maintain connections with others; moreover, these social networking websites can be oriented toward different fields like work-related, romantic relationship related, interest sharing related, or student community (Ellison, Steinfield & Lampe, 2008). Mostly, users participate in these sites for interaction with their friends or meet new people. With these sites, they provide various features such as profiles, comments, private messaging, photo-sharing, and video-sharing capabilities; moreover, with the improving technology, now users are capable of using mobile phones to achieve online interactions. Two differing discourses social, and cultural discourses are used to discuss the differences between Twitter and Facebook in the use of branding. Twitter vs. Facebook

...‘Tweet’. Facebook and Twitter are two of the most popular social networking sites; almost every website on the Internet is connected in some way to Facebook and Twitter. One question people seem to have is what is the difference between the two? Simply put there are several differences between the two social networking sites. Some of the key differences are privacy controls, games and applications, the audience and amount of users, and the character limitation in a status update and a tweet. While Facebook and Twitter are both social networking websites and seem similar, they are different and will provide you with a different social networking experience. One of the main differences in the two most famous social networking sites is their privacy controls. Facebook users have more control over their privacy settings. Twitter has limited privacy for ‘tweets’, you can see every users ‘tweets’ or ‘retweets’. Also you can follow anyone and anyone can follow you. Twitter has some privacy controls;...
