Many controversies surround vaccinations, one of them being the fact you have to vaccinate children before they can be accepted into school. Many claim that vaccines can be harmful or just don't want to give their children vaccines, others side with logic and reason, giving their children the required vaccines for school and proper health to ensure their child's safety. Anti-vaccine parents tend to worry about the rare side effects and the ethical morality behind the science, that they obviously do not understand. They question the integrity of the scientists and their research. So instead these parents go to dodgy websites that smudge data or flat out lie to their readers. Sites such as Vaxtruth make claims without supporting them, They also have graphs which compare irrelevant data to prove points that have no substantial meaning "Vaccines Did Not Save Us.". They use faulty information and logic for their ‘data’ and their readers believe them. In one case a website claimed that a small child died from getting the Hepatitis B vaccine ‘too early’ (Ursino, Augustina) even though the CDC’s website clearly states that all children should be vaccinated for HepB at birth Centers for Disease Control and Prevention . But the reality remains that deadly side effects are extremely rare, the chances of having a seizure from the MMR vaccination is roughly 5% out of the hundreds of thousands infants given vaccines daily. Other concerns such as autism are repeatedly disproven, but confirmation bias rules their judgement. It is estimated that 4% of Oregonians exempt their children from vaccinations, for medical, philosophical and religious reasons, these numbers are higher than ever before and can affect the herd immunity.
