Competitive advantage for a company means not just matching or surpassing their competitors, discovering what the customers want and then profitably satisfying, and even exceeding their expectations. As barriers to inter-regional and international trade are diminishing and as access to goods and services are growing, customers can locate after identification and «the best of what they want, at an acceptable price, wherever it is in the world. Under growing competition and, hence, rising customer expectations, a company's penalty for complacency becomes even greater.

A strategic tool to measure the importance of the customer's perceived value is value chain analysis. By enabling companies to determine the strategic advantages and disadvantages of activities and value-creating processes in the market place, value chain analysis becomes essential for assessing competitive advantage. ...India and the Global Financial Crisis What Have We Learnt? 1 - Duvvuri Subbarao _________________________________________________________ Thank you for inviting me to deliver the 2011 K R Narayanan Oration. It is an honour to which I attach a lot of value. President Narayanan 2. Late President Narayanan was a distinguished diplomat, a reputed parliamentarian, a capable minister and above all an erudite scholar. Born at the very bottom of India’s social pyramid, he rose on to occupy the highest office in the country with no assets other than hard work, integrity and humility. ‘A working President’, as he described himself, he never allowed dogma to overwhelm his beliefs and convictions. 3. President Narayanan was in office from 1997 to 2002, a time when globalization, as we are experiencing it in the current times, was taking root. At the banquet he hosted for the visiting US President Bill Clinton in New Delhi in March 2000, President Narayanan remarked: “Mr. President, we do recognise and welcome the fact that the world has been moving inevitably towards a one-world... But, for us, globalization does not mean the end of history and geography, and of the lively and exciting diversities of the world.” This was a thoughtful remark. As much as globalization may be inevitable, history and geography need not be destiny. If we learn the lessons of experience, we will not repeat the same mistakes. This indeed is the topic for my 1 K.R. Narayanan Oration by Dr.......

...vaibhav Define Demand: The quantity demanded of a good or service is the amount that consumers plan to buy during a given time period at a particular price. Demand is the relationship between price and quantity demanded, other things remaining the same. Mathematical presentation: Linear Demand: p = a - bQd Note that the quantity demanded of a good or service is not necessarily the quantity actually bought. Sometimes the quantity demanded is greater than the amount of goods available, -excess demand-, or it may be less than the amount of goods available, -excess supply. Factors that affect Demand: The price of the good The prices of related goods Income Expected future prices Population Preferences Demand Curve- Movement along the curve Demand curves slope downward (negative slope) because as the law of demand states, “Other things remaining the same, the higher the price of a good, the smaller is the quantity demanded.” If there is a change in the price of a good, while everything else remains the same, the quantity demanded changes and there is a movement along the demand curve. Changes in Demand- Shift of Demand Curve A decrease in demand shifts the demand curve left while an increase shifts the demand curve to the right. Demand Decreases if : Demand Increases if: The price of a substitute falls The price of a substitute rises The price of a complement rises The price of a complement falls Income falls (for normal goods*)......

...02 February 2005 Dear Sir/M’aam I Vaibhav Bansal, am a Second year under-graduate student, in the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, India. I am looking for a Summer-Internship in May-July 2005 in your organization. I have always been a knowledge-seeker and have been motivated to explore things as they come by. Ever since my early undergraduate days and even earlier I have been fascinated by the methods of engineering and its application to the real world. And after spending almost 2 years at IIT, Guwahati I have developed a keen interest in the field of Microelectronics. I went through the website of STMicroelectronics and upon finding applications ranging from "Transiators to IC's to Microprocessors" I would really love to learn how the basic laws of Semiconductors supplemented that of Electronics apply to Real Life problems. Though from my C.V. it is clear that I am in the 2nd year and have not taken up many projects other than the ones prescribed in the curriculum, I have been studying on my own apart from regular academics. I have started working on my own with some assistance from my Professor so that this knowledge I gain shallbe beneficial for me later on. I am aware of the hard-work, and commitment required and I believe that my motivation and aptitude will see me through the challenge . I am also confident that given a chance I can contribute productively to the ongoing research in your institute. In anticipation...

Euthanasia

...of lives became more noble and precious, however, the convenience that human created is now ironically threatening human value. As I will discuss in this essay, I strongly disagree with euthanasia that would weaken and sicken human soul. There is no doubt that euthanasia will be spoiling human kind. At least if you are human being, you should consider about our next generation. If we accept euthanasia, we would confront with three major problem; confronting with protests held by religious people ,abusing the law, and devalue of human life. The term “euthanasia” comes from the Greek words “good death”. The general idea of euthanasia is comfortable death for someone who wants to die either voluntary or non-voluntary (Goel Vaibhav, 2008). Despite of the origin of the meaning, euthanasia does not seem to be comfortable death. I would like to ask to whom disagree with it “what is comfortable death ?” Time is really fast. At the moment when it is time for you to die, you would think that time is really fast like a minute. Pain will disappear after you die, and you will not remember anything that you have done. Some patients have an unbearable pain,...
