This week’s topic of discussion was interesting, as it touched on how children react to those of different races. I cannot remember much of how it was for me when I was young, but the examples from Van Ausdale and Feagin show some troublesome cases. As a parent you’re supposed to teach your child how to react in situations like these. For example, interacting with a child of different skin color, spoken language, or customs. In Van Ausdale and Feagin kids would form groups that shared the same characteristics. The thing wrong with this came when those characteristics were based on your race, as this is something you can’t change. Teaching your son or daughter about these differences is a critical part in their development. Society will be filled
