Communication and the Audience

...January 29, 2011 Mark Sales Manager Riordan Manufacturing 208 Industry Dr. Silver Springs, CA 99999 Dear Mark, You may already know that the ad hoc committee was established by the company CEO William so we can know all areas of JJJ Company. When you requested that I was to write an update for you on my findings from the meeting of the ad hoc committee which was concerning the acquisition of JJJ Company. With you being our sales manager you are correct that the sales numbers projected by JJJ Company’s financial statements and the possibility of acquiring their business clients could and should improve our company sales. When talking with you, I heard you mention that you were an employee of JJJ’s in 2005 so this helps you understand how JJJ Company’s sales department runs. This would require very little training for the current staff. After carefully listening to your thoughts and ideas; I decided to take the time to review the operating activities of JJJ Company. Even though JJJ Company’s sales number is high, it shows that the operating expense is high as well. Because of the operating expenses are high, any sales JJJ Company will be making is being used to pay expenses instead of saving for anything else that is needed. A company must be able to earn a profit or they will not be able to stay in business. I noticed in the last five years their company has had poor cash flow. This does require our company to support JJJ Company until they become financially...

Business Intelligence Deployment

...Business Intelligence deployment Business intelligence has been widely adapted tool in analyzing the data that helps in decision making adding value to the business. Most of the data in BI has been driven by IT with most of the focus has been captured in the designing of the system as per the technical preconditions making sure that the benefits such as information sharing ,agility , flexibility , information sharing , collaboration and flexibility are maintained. The key challenge in using the BI is to add business value in my view, lies in the way the information and analytical frameworks used within the organisations with incremental usage of ad hoc reports. The actual value of the business rests on something beyond technical implementation i.e, strategic alignment of data to improve management or operational process of the business. There are subsequent failures observed in organisations in improvement on these aspects though company implements Business intelligence predicting to drive high margins with low costs. According to me one main attribute of enabling the human intelligence and the organisational intelligence is the Initiation of a plan for the way BI application would be used with available human community to any organisation before implementation starts. The steps that achieve the point of mention can be implemented by below steps. 1. IT vendor who starts implementing the business has to understand the organisations strategic drivers of the competition and...

Evaluating Business Communication

...Evaluating Business Communication BCOM/230 During week four, our Learning Team was assigned with writing several business communication reports to several different levels of management within the organization. There was a communication from the Accountant Manager to the CEO, Staff Accountant to peer, Staff Accountant to Sales Manager and Accountant Manager to the Ad Hoc Committee. In the communication from the Accountant Manager to the CEO, the message was conveyed appropriately, the communication was sent in a formal report, which was appropriate for the audience, the communication was appropriate level, the leadership style affected the communication, and the communication was ethically sound and did not share more information than needed. All communications in the report sent relayed the intended messages very well. However, the communication from the Accountant Manager to the CEO is a great example of a formal communication. At first, the communication was going to be sent as a memo, but after careful consideration, a formal report was created instead. This was the best form of communication sent to the CEO due to being the appropriate level for his position within the company. The report was written using very good word choices for the audience. There was not a lot of accounting jargon used or the use of overly big words. The report was well worded for anyone at any reading level to have read. However, well written the report could have had some visible numbers to...

The Mini

...About a week ago after driving my Mini Cooper for a short distance the EML light in the car would come on and the car would hesitate. The car then would loose pressure dropping the speed from normal speed limit to no more than 5 – 10 mph. After parking the car, I noticed that the fan would come on and remain on for an extended period. When I lifted the hood of the car, I noticed that the coolant supply would be low. Replacing the coolant supply did not seem to fix the problem. I attempted to figure out the problem with an experiment. I drove the same speed around the block multiple times. The third or fourth time I noticed a difference. When I drove the car approximately a mile, the temperature gage would increase activating the EML. Then the car would hesitate, loose pressure, and decrease in mph. It seemed to be a direct correlation with an increase in temperature, the EML light coming on, losing pressure, and the decrease in mph. So to make sure there were not any confounding variables, I drove the car slowly to ensure speed was not a factor. Decreasing the speed did not change anything. I was able to make the same observation. I took the car to the auto repair shop. The repair person informed me that there was a leak in the coolant system. The leak caused an increase in the cars temperature. The increase in the cars temperature activated the EML light. The car would loose pressure. When the car lost pressure, the protection mechanism would activate to prevent any real...
