Vera Drake lives with her husband Stan and her two grown children Ethel and Sid. Vera is a domestic who cleans the house of a rich woman. She has a good heart and cheerful even though she got plenty of work to do, and a lot of people to take care of and help women in need, as she calls it. Vera has her big secrete that has no one in her family knows, and a secret that she intends to keep secret. When she says “Help Women In Need” she means to help poor pregnant women who are not willing or not be able to give birth to a child. Because abortion was not legal in England in the year 1950’s.Vera’s secret comes to an end after one of the girls she treated gets sick and the police get involved.
This film does not only show how abortion works but it also tells us the story of the one who performs the abortion. Vera Drake was of pure good and it was never her intention ever to do abortion for her own benefit, but she was only thinking of how a poor pregnant woman would raise a child if they were born.
This movie also comes with moral values and an ethical question to be considered like is Abortion really a murder? Did Vera commit a serious crime? Or should Vera be put in jail, if her own intention was to help hose poor pregnant women?
As I finished watching this film, I tend to get sympathy with Vera, since she was such a caring and loving...

...Zenja Jones Eng101 – Smith 2 Nov 2015 Jungle The most significant thing I’ve read does not come from a book, a magazine, or a blog. It comes from a hip-hop song. The song was made by a Canadian rapper, turned singer, named Aubrey Graham. He is well known as Drake in the music industry. The song I am referring to is called ‘Jungle.’ There is one lyric in particular that caught my attention and stuck with me. The lyric itself personally inspires me to be my best and encourages me to keep moving toward success. The song is fairly new. It was released in February of 2015, along with seventeen other songs, on Drake’s album ‘If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late.’ This is his fourth commercial released album. It was randomly available on iTunes on the thirteenth of February. The album has been very successful, as well as his others. The album debuted as number one on the Canadian Albums Chart and the Billboard 200. Because of ‘If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late,’ Drake became the first rapper to top Billboard’s Artist 100 chart. Jungle has the third most plays out of the whole album. Drake has always been one of my favorite artists to listen to. I feel his music is more relatable than others. Jungle really grabbed ahold of my mind and wedged itself in there, continuously playing even when I’m not listening to the actual song. It loops the same part of the song over and over again when I’m in apposition of giving up. It is a rather emotional song though. The meaning of the...

...Aubrey Drake Graham born October 24, 1986 in Toronto, Ontario, who records under Drake. He is a Canadian recording artist, rapper, and songwriter. Drake started off playing Jimmy Brooks on the television series Degrassi. After that career was done he later rose as a rapper, after releasing a couple of mixtapes before signing with Young Money Entertainment (Kellman). For one Drake is one of my all time favorite music artists. He motivates me and puts me in a positive attitude with his original lyrics. The song “Successful” in the album So Far Gone and Ready sticks out as one of my favorite songs record by Drake. He pushes past the dilemmas in his life and all the dislike everybody throws at him but still does what he wants to do. Compared to other rappers, Drake has by far the most meaning in every song he produces. Drake has a music style that isn’t like any other; most of his lyricism is in regard to being rich and famous and also past relationships with strippers. “Drake's sound is labeled as "soft" for his genuine, forgiving lyrics and expressive melody.” (Lester). What is another thing that sets him apart from the rest is he has a wide vocabulary in his rhymes that he produces; you can tell that he is very high educated. From the album Take Care I can sing every song on that album because you can understand Drake when he raps. “Drake has a unique musical style that has set him apart from his Young Money counterparts, especially in his latest effort album “Take Care”......

Why Did the Spanish Armada Fail?

...English fleet consisted of 177 ships which were small and less than 100 tons. Also 34 of them were Royal Warships so they were ready for anything. On the other hand the Spanish armada was equipped with enough ammunition, food, water for 4 weeks. This was quite a big problem because this was much longer than they expected to be at sea. The Spanish Armada had 16,000 sailors and 34,000 soldiers at sea. Philip believed that God was on the side of the Roman Catholics so he has 180 priest monks on board so they could have daily masses. Another reason why the Spanish Armada failed was because of their leadership. The English were led by Lord Howard and although he had little experience at sea, he relied on brilliant commanders like Sir Francis Drake and he helped them. The Spanish Armada were led by the Duke of Medina- Sidonia and this was a very bad idea because he had no experience at fighting and he relied heavily on his more experienced captains. Philip thought he knew...

...The behaviour in which one individual interacts with others and the world around them can enhance or restrain their experience of belonging. A sense of belonging is reliant on relationships and close links with places, particular environments and landscapes. Relationships are initially built upon mutual interests and acceptance and this is closely linked with one’s innate desire to be able to affiliate with a group or another individual. Belonging is a part of everyday life and can enrich our identity and can lead to acceptance and understanding. In Shakespeare’s play ‘As You Like It’ and the first three episodes of the TV series ‘Seachange’ the protagonists experience a wide range of belonging and not belonging not only to person but also to place. This is observed throughout the wide use of juxtaposition of settings, country life versus city life, dramatic irony, and satire to express the characters feelings and to involve the responder. In the TV series, ‘SeaChange’ the concept of belonging and not belonging to place can be compared to similar concepts and values from ‘As You Like It’. In ‘SeaChange’ Laura Gibson’s life is shattered in a matter of a day; she almost kills the family cat, her son is expelled, she misses out on a partnership at work, and she finds out that her husband Jack is cheating on her with her sister. In a sudden change of behavior, she takes a job as a magistrate in a small seaside town, Pearl Bay, where she had been for a holiday with her family......

Insecticidal Activity of Aloe Vera

...Chapter I INTRODUCTION A. Background of the Study Mosquitoes are insect vectors responsible for the transmission of parasitic and viral infections to millions of people worldwide (Kovendan, et al., 2012). These vectors cause a major health hazard by transmitting vector-borne diseases especially in tropical countries. In a tropical country like the Philippines, dengue outbreaks have shown a very alarming number of cases. The National Epidemiology Center of the Philippines' Department of Health reports a total of 132,046 dengue cases from January to 13 October 2012. This is 24.92% higher compared to the same time period in 2011 (WHO, 2013). Of the total cases, 20.42% came from the National Capital Region (NCR), with highest contributors from Quezon City (7,754 cases), Manila (4,379 cases) and Caloocan City (2,967 cases). Next to NCR, Region III and Region IV-A registered the highest number of cases, which are 15.79% and 15.66% respectively, to the overall figure. These three areas, collectively characterized as highly urbanized and densely-populated, were consistently reported as the three most dengue endemic regions in the country over the past years (WHO, 2013). Mosquito control, in view of their medical importance, assumes global importance (Subramaniam, et al., 2012). In the context of ever increasing trend to use more powerful synthetic insecticides to achieve immediate results in the control of the said vector, an alarming increase in the vector’s......

...Carl Sagan's novel Contact is about a girl named Ellie who has a deep passion for astronomy. Her passion for Science comes from her Father who only encourages her to explore more into the universe. Ellie always believed there to be extraterrestrial life and worked throughout her life to discover it. People don't understand her or believe her determination to find what she's looking for. Until the day she received contact from a star known as Vega and is soon to physically experience this journey for herself. In Contact, Sagan's message is received through the different parts that occur in the book although, in the movie many parts were left out getting away from the point of the idea. In the novel Ellie's father died when she was 10 but her mother was still alive. Ellie's mother soon found a new husband, who wasn't very encouraging to Ellie. Ellie's step-father always told her to not seem so smart since she was a girl in order for her to make more friends and to attend these different schools. This is a big part in the message because Ellie proved him wrong by her discoveries even if she was a girl. In the film, Ellie didn't exactly have any push to prove her full ability, there was no person telling her what to do. She simply did it for her passion as well as she did it in the novel but there was more of a personal determination for it. Her mother was a a huge factor because it showed more of who Ellie was and to help her realize how much time she was putting into this...
