The Five Industry forces for verizon, just like any other company are: Bargaining Power of Buyers, Industry Competition, Bargaining power of Suppliers, Threats to new Entrants, Threats of Substitutes. For verizon, Industry Competition is the largest force that Verizon faces. AT&T is the largest competitor that Verizon faces. The typical customer profile for the two companies is similar, and AT&T claims the highest market share in the industry behind Verizon. The bargaining power of buyers is rather high is this industry. Because switching plans is so easy to do, Verizon has to respect that when it comes to where is prices its service. Because none of these companies focus on a niche they would all be considered industry-wide. When it comes to cost however, they can differ quite a bit. Verizon’s main focus is they high quality coverage. AT&T also focuses on quality, but also boast lower rates. When it comes to T-Mobile and Sprint however, you’ll find that they tend to market their low prices rather than their amazing cell phone …show more content…
They have both the largest coverage and the largest share in the market. They also have multiple product lines, such as Verizon Fios so they aren’t just limited to one product line. Verizon not only have a large following, but also a loyal customer base, which is evident by having the most cell phone subscribers in the United States. For their weaknesses, Verizon is only a domestic company. Their cell phone service has not been expanded globally which is limiting the potential customers they can have. Also Verizon has the highest prices in amongst their competitors which might deter consumers from subscribing to their service. For their opportunities, they can expand globally where their is a huge unreached market. Another opportunity is Verizon Fios. Fios has strongly established itself as a unique concept with the use of fiber cable and it is a long way from its full potential. Also with the developments of 5G, if they are the first to provide this service, they would be two steps ahead of the competition. For their threats, they obviously have their competitors. Most of their commercials target Verizon stating why they are just as good at a cheaper price. Another threat is government regulations. For telecom companies, government regulations are always an issue which can arise at any time for any reason. Moreover, security and privacy related laws have been made stricter since the terrorist attacks.
