Propaganda Galore Propaganda techniques are used in many of today’s advertisements in order to persuade buyers to purchase their goods and services. Almost any commercial that you would watch today has some form propoganda buried deep behind the light humor and smiling faces. Companies like AT&T and Verizon have both released a swarm of commercials that has every type of propaganda. I have discovered two commercials for both of these companies that have great examples of how big business persuade buyers to purchase their products and services.
My first commercial is by Verizon it is about how everything is not made to last and breaks very quickly and the fact that manufactures lie about the quality, functionality, or reliability of their products. The commercial starts with a random assortment of products breaking in everyday live. During this time the narrator is using negative words describing her frustration with the cheaply made things in life. After the random assortment of products break the narrator introduces Verizon as the most reliable network, thus giving the viewer a reason to switch to Verizon. One of the more evident propaganda technique used in this essay is plain folks. The producers of this …show more content…
The politician and lily start to have a conversation eventually the politician says, "I want an iPhone with a great data plan so I can post pictures of this smile." Lily then responds with a feature of AT&T's data plans, the commercial finally ends with flyer of the new iPhone and promotion with a promise of saving data. The whole conversation is rather cliche but, mildly amusing and can sum up most of the politicians today. I believe that the most obvious type of propaganda technique is transfer. It is not a case about Apple and why it has become successful. This case study explores the rise of the Apple Corporation. The Apple iPod is one of the most successful new product launches in recent years, transforming the way the public listens to music, with huge ramifications for major record labels. More than 50 million MP3 players are expected to be sold in 2005; over a third more than last year. Mobile phones have long been regarded as the most credible challengers to MP3 players and iPods. Users are willing to pay more for additional services and many analysts predict that mobile phone handsets will eventually emerge as the dominant technology of the age, combining personal organisers, digital music players and games consoles in a single device. Indeed, Microsoft founder Bill Gates has predicted that mobile phones will supersede the iPod as the favoured way of listening to digital music.
