Black Mexico

...Vicente Fox, the President of Mexico, is at best known as a racist against the blacks in Mexico. In March 2005, during one of the much-publicized projects in Arizona, the Minuteman, Fox made arrogant remarks touching on blacks. Then in May 2005, President Fox made it to insult African Americans again. He was making a speech in which he made claims that implied that African Americans comprise society’s lowest rungs. Fox made these statements stating that immigrants coming from Mexico do work that not even black people would want to do. About a month later, there came the inauguration of Mexico's most recent series of postage stamps. These postage stamps featured a black character. This character appeared in the postage stamps with a background that made a portrayal of a minstrel show. The popularity of the Memin Pinguin series of postage stamps in Mexico made racial sense in that the character in it was thick-lipped, flat-nosed, bug-eyed, and dancing with vigor. Memin Pinguin is among Mexico's most adored comic strip characters. He has been positively acclaimed by Sixto Valencia Burgos, the cartoonist. Sixto portrays Memin in his description as "this funny little kid. And nice. And generous. Oh, and black, too." Such portrayal of Memin in the postage stamps series by Fox was apparent. Despite the racism in these stamps, Fox went on the defensive again and was fervently defended by Rubén Aguilar, his spokesman. Aguilar denied any racism in that character. He even went further...

Border Wall - Usa, Mexico

...Arthur 1 Morgan Arthur April 23, 2009 Final Essay Prof. Medlin English 1020 United States-Mexican Border Wall Immigrants founded the United States of America and ever since then there have been people from all over the world coming to America for a chance at a better life for themselves and their families. Immigrants from all over the world come, some legally and some illegally. A majority of these immigrants come from southern-border country Mexico. Everyday, the United States has hundreds of illegal immigrants come into the country. They cross over from the Rio Grande into Texas; they cross over into Arizona, New Mexico, and California. With all of the problems that the United States is facing from illegal immigration, maybe it is time that the American government should have a stronger form of border control. For years there has been talk of a stronger border and in some cases there has been action. However, with the opinions in favor of a stronger border security, such as a border wall, there are also strong opinions against the idea. A border wall would help the United States with security issues; it might also slow down the number of immigrants coming across the border every year. The fact is that something must be done to slow down illegal immigration before this country becomes over populated. Illegal immigrants are taking jobs away from American citizens, who at this moment during the recession need those jobs more than ever. The United States government...

E-Municpality in Mexico

...E-government Experience in Mexico In just four years, Mexico prepared, launched, and implemented an e-government strategy that put the country among the top performers of online services in the world. For President Vicente Fox Administration, innovation is a priority. Citizens have been placed at the center of government daily activities in order to regain their trust, and the challenge is that every public institution has to contribute to build a government that works like all Mexicans want. This creates a gap of need for methods, procedures, and new culture to drive the changes. The Mexican government is searching for ways to integrate e-government in a broader reform that defines e-government as a tool to improve the quality, transparency, and efficiency of government and public services. The government’s vision: “A Government that works how we all want” seeks for modernization of delivery of government services and information, and, more importantly, transformation of the citizen-government relationship. The objectives set were: transparency and accountability, quality, and efficiency that would facilitate the strategies of anti-corruption, public service improvement, regulatory reform and cost efficiency, all of which will create a sustainable e-government. Mexico began by focusing on the widespread application of ICT, the dissemination of information and the production of as many online services as possible. This contributed to an international...

...WRITING 101S, KADENA AFB 500 Hedgehog or Fox? Intellectual or the Artistic? Which is better? Fruitful Questions by James Sollisch emphasizes the importance of looking at things and problems more than one way in order to come up with a solution. This essay reminds me of a fable by Isiah Berlin told to me by an old professor of mine. In this fable the fox is a cunning creature, able to devise a myriad of complex strategies for sneak attacks upon the hedgehog. Day in and day out, the fox circles around the hedgehog’s den, waiting for the perfect moment to pounce. Fast, sleek, beautiful, and crafty—the fox looks like the sure winner. The hedgehog, on the other hand, is a dowdier creature, looking like a genetic mix-up between a porcupine and a small armadillo. He waddles along, going about his simple day, searching for lunch and taking care of his home. The fox waits in silence at the juncture in the trail. The hedgehog, minding his own business, wanders right into the path of the fox. The fox thinks he has the sure advantage now. He leaps out, bounding across the ground, lightning fast. The little hedgehog, sensing danger, looks up and thinks, “Here we go again. Will he ever learn?” Rolling up into a perfect little ball, the hedgehog becomes a sphere of sharp spikes, pointing outward in all directions. The fox, bounding toward his prey, sees the hedgehog defense and calls off the attack. Retreating back to the forest, the fox begins to calculate a new line of attack. Each...

To Kill A Mockingbird Alternate Ending

...“Cecil Jacobs is a big wet hen!” I heard a familiar voice yell. I stood up from my chair and stumbled over to the window. “Hey!” I heard another familiar voice yell as I looked over the dark lot scanning for my two kids. The lot was completely pitch dark, but I became used to the dark long ago and I could barely make out an outline of what looked like a life-size walking ham. Why would Scout be dressed as a ham? I wondered to myself. I couldn’t see Jem although I knew it was his voice I had heard. I watched as Scout as Jem approached the big oak tree. Once the kids stumbled under the big old tree, I could make out Jem walking along side Scout talking quietly to her. The kids stopped all of the sudden, and I wondered if something was wrong. They shouldn’t be out here at this time of night. Where was Atticus? The Halloween pageant! I remembered the article I read in the weekly edition of the Maycomb tribune. That must be where they were and why Scout wore a ham as her dress. It must of ended late. “Run, Scout! Run! Run!” I heard Jem yell. At that moment I spotted a man with a ripped plaid shirt on, charging at the kids. My kids, I thought. He’s going to try to hurt them. The man wore a smirk of hate and revenge on his face. I couldn’t let them be hurt. They were all I had after years of being shut up in this old run down house because of my unknown sickness. I just couldn’t stay in my house and let the kids be hurt. I had to help. I grabbed what I needed from the kitchen and...

...A Fox’s Tale (Tail) One day a fox was out on a walk, following the same trail that she had once followed when she was just a pup. While walking through the dense woods, it became more and more difficult for her to see where she was stepping. All of a sudden she heard a snap, followed by her own whimpering. Her beautiful tail had been caught in a bear trap. It was only after a tough struggle that she was freed. Although she was no longer trapped, she was still filled with sorrow. Her tail had been cut off and left in the trap. “Oh, how ugly I do indeed look!” Cried the fox, “won’t the other foxes laugh at me?” After racking her brain for quite some time, the fox constructed a plan to prevent being laughed at. Soon after that she called a meeting among her friends and said, “Friends! Have you ever wondered why, after all of the trouble it causes us, we carry these long bushy tails? Let us get rid of them and be free from their nuisance.” To the grief of the fox who was missing her tail, her friends had noticed just that, she was already missing her tail. They laughed aloud and replied, “You used to say that tails looked just fine when your own was okay- and still intact. Now that you’ve lost yours, you want us to lose ours too.” Just as this fox’s friends did, you should always evaluate people's intentions; they may wish to drag you down in order to make themselves feel...

...cold, as it was always this time of year. Autumn's refreshing draft of cool air filled the valley, kissing the river in front of the Husky. The shades of orange, red, and brown around him were typical of course, but there was no harm in hoping these colors would not accompany the fall season this year. The feeling of vibrant energy with dull decay had always struck a chord in his chest. "Is this really necessary Jack?" he shouted further down the river bank, glaring down a red fox pawing softly at the river's current. "Calm down pup, this'll only take a minute if I can just lay a paw on a single fish," Jack shot back quickly with obvious frustration stemming from his voice. His fur was already drenched at his previous attempts, but this did not stray him from his persistence. The Husky had already begun lying down on the bank's shore, paying little attention to Jack's assurance of success. He let out a sigh and licked his front paws. He'll never learn, why does my closest friend have to be the only fox around who can't even catch the smallest of fish? The sound of a splash rang out down the bank. He rolled his eyes knowing this couldn't possibly be the sound of a fish having been caught, but the sound of Jack slipping into the stream. Frustrated at the sound of Jack's obvious failure, he stood to his paws once again, bitter his rest was interrupted so soon. The pack had ordered them to bring back dinner, or risk their own hides in he case of failure. The sun had begun to...
