Vida Joven Community In The Dominican Republic

Throughout my life, I have had to adapt my leadership style at different times to be successful. Each style has been unique based on my circumstances and each experience has influenced who I am today. To fully understand who that is, you need to start from the beginning. I am a triplet with two brothers that were born just a few minutes behind me. They were my first team and two people that I shared every childhood experience with for the next 18 years. I obviously didn’t know it at the time, but my childhood would forever be defined by this team. I was one of “The Triplets”.
It was our identity and in our small hometown people recognized us no matter where we went. My parents dressed us alike, we played the same sports, and we were in all …show more content…
As a trip leader, rather than take charge I listened to the local citizens direct the construction projects and focused on making an impact in other ways. I wanted to make sure that we were serving their needs in the best way possible, but also forging a long term relationship that would be beneficial for years to come. Afterwards I helped convince the organization to continue to travel to Jaraboca, Dominican Republic each year and build on the work that we started back in 2011. To this day, the Vida Joven community in the Dominican Republic is still partnered with the University of Michigan Young Life community.
As I have transitioned into my career, I have sought environments that combined my passion for sports along with the opportunity be a part of a team striving to accomplish something new. I have lead and challenged myself to leave a lasting impact on projects, whether it was creating an innovative concept for a Nike product line, helping evaluate the first deal for the NFL Strategic Investment Fund, or breaking a Guinness Book of World Record for an NFL marketing plan. However, this may be most evident in my transition from my job with the NFL to my current role with the Detroit
