In this assignment you are required in groups of not more than 4 people, to prepare a 3-5 minutes instructional video on the following topics listed below:

1) “Problems from subsidy cuts to petrol are short-term. Benefits gained are long-term”. Discuss. Use aggregate demand and supply analysis to explain.

2) “Inflation is best controlled by use of monetary policy while unemployment can only be resolved through fiscal policy”. Do you agree? Use the money market, income-expenditure and aggregate demand and supply analysis to argue your case.

3) Supply-side policies are mandatory for long-term economic growth. Give recent examples the Malaysian federal government has implemented in recent years. Explain how such a policy would affect the economy using production function, labour market and aggregate demand-supply analysis.

Your presentation must incorporate a mix of some or all of the visual, audio, animated, real-life elements that go into the making of a video. Marks will be awarded for correct answers as well as for evidence of creative thought (see attached feedback form).

The completed video should not exceed 5 minutes and you must submit a copy in Blackboard 7 by 3pm, 6th June, 2011. Your analysis of the topic attempted must contain the following information (in no particular order except where stated):

The Taylor’s University logo Title of the video (optional) Reference list (at the end of the video) Peer evaluation form (at the end of the video) - see attached sample

It will take about 1-2 weeks for your assignment to be assessed and your results will be posted on Blackboard 7 with comments in the feedback form.

Harvard referencing style should be employed for reference purpose and failure to do so leads to marks deduction. Taylor’s University College treats any acts of dishonesty relating to assessment of University courses seriously. It is vital that students acquaint themselves with the University’s policy on plagiarism (refer to Student Handbook 2010). Please also refer to Policy of Submission of Written Assignment for more details (URL: http://portals.taylors.edu.my).

Late Assignments will not be accepted and only limited possibility exists for extensions if application is made to the subject administrator before the due date. These will be granted solely on medical grounds or grounds of misadventure and must be supported by relevant documentation.

This is a group assignment and it comprises 10% of your course assessment.

Approaches to Teaching Gcse Maths

...the learning of my students. Simplistically, before it may have been a case of “What do they need to know?” and then relaying what the student needs to know for that particular subject, in a clear and concise manner, which may have been “got” by most students, but then they would have forgot the method shortly afterwards when it came to a formative or a summative assessment. Now I’m more determined to help students learn in a way that is going to be enjoyable to them and help them remember what they need to for the exam. This will involve doing more kinaesthetic and visual activities as a lot of learners learn by doing. Realistic Mathematics Education (RME)  The course has introduced me to Hodder Education’s range of books called ‘Making Sense of Maths’ for KS3 and KS4 (http://www.hoddereducation.co.uk/makingsenseofmaths). Mr Gough, a maths teacher and one of the authors of the aforementioned book(s) states the following: “My experience of teaching GCSE Foundation Tier is that by the time they get to KS4 they’ve already covered most of the content and they’re having the same content repeated in the same way that they found difficult in the first place so my experience of using this approach is that it seemed very different to them and it reinvigorated their interest in maths and they were very positive about maths lessons again. We’ve also taken these materials to various exam boards around the country; all of them confirm that its approach can be given credit for...

Video Conferencing

...Ex-MBA 2011-2014 Semester -1 Subject: Technology in Business ------------------------------------------------- VIDEO CONFERENCING – A BOON TO COMPANIES TO REDUCE COSTS, TIME AND SAVE OUR ENVIRONMENT Completed By, Shantesh Varik Roll No: 2011G14 INTRODUCTION – Aim and Objective Videoconferencing is a virtual conference like setup using a number of telecommunication technologies which allow two or more locations to interact via two-way video and audio transmissions simultaneously. Videoconferencing is slightly different from videophone calls as it is designed to serve a conference rather than individuals. In a tight economy, with companies spending much less on IT, the tech giants will take growth wherever they can find it. The Wall Street Journal reported recently that Cisco and HP are in a pitched battle for customers for their high-end teleconferencing systems. According to the report, it's "one of the few technologies that has benefited from the downturn, growing 30% from last year as businesses look to reduce travel expenses." Cisco, HP, Nortel, and telepresence-focused players like Teleris have developed impressive, beautiful systems that make you feel like you're in the same room with your colleagues. The catch is that not only will you save money, but you'll also reduce your environmental footprint through reduced travel. These companies are cashing in on the business world's pressing need to cut costs, while also appealing to the desire to get green...

Technological Development

...and more gratifying solutions. This paper gives an overview of society’s use of technological evolution to compensate for our need for instant gratification. It will also take a look at the technology of video chat and how this innovation may potentially change our ways of communication and travel. Telegraphs Effects on Society As a result of Samuel Morse’s telegraph cross country communication improved vastly. The telegraph’s role was completely transformed by 1880, becoming crucial to the political and economic life of the nation (Winston & Edelbach, p. 40, 2014). After the Atlantic cable was completed, the speed and frequency of the communications between nations increased, forever changing the political landscape (Winston & Edelbach, p. 39, 2014). The use of telegraphs became integral to society. It was the lifeline for newspapers. President Lincoln’s balloon corps took off in 1861. The primary reason for the corps’ existence was the fact that the balloon was equipped with a telegraph (Army Balloon Corps, n.d.). The operator was able to give real time information regarding the movements of enemy troops. This could then be reported to the ground troops, thus giving us the first aerial telegram. Railroad companies used it to schedule and signal information, making the railroad industry faster and more efficient (Winston & Edelbach, p. 39, 2014). As a whole, the invention of the telegram advanced our nation by bringing us closer together through the expedited exchange...

Google Glass

...be paired with a phone using the My Glass app to allow quick fiddling with settings and customisation. Navigation You'll be able to use Google Maps to get directions although as there is no built in GPS receiver you'll need to tether Glass to your smartphone. Several third party developers have announced apps for services including Evernote, Skitch and Path. Memory There's 16GB of flash memory built into the device, although only 12GB is currently available for user storage. The device will sync to your Google Drive, giving you both a place to stash your photos and video clips as well as a stash of documents and files you can call up from the cloud. Camera There is a 5 megapixel camera built-in to the frame that can also capture video at 720p resolution. Battery The rechargeable battery last for roughly a day, although that's with the standard "typical use" caveat, which probably excludes a lot of video capture or playback. Connection Bluetooth and WiFi will be built in, but there is no GPS chip - so the Glass will probably work best alongside an Android phone for full Google Maps functionality. You can however pair with any Bluetooth enabled phone and we would expect some support for iOS at least. Design Glass is designed to be lightweight and as unobtrusive as possible. The frame will come with adjustable pads for comfort, and is expected to be both light...

Digital Tools for Networking

...Bilbraut Communication is any message send through digital devices. It is fast and easier, the message can be stored in the device for longer periods of time, without being damage, and it can be done over large distances. Also it provides facilities like video conferencing wish save a lot of time, money, and effort. Some examples of digital communication are: E-mailing, texting, fax, teleconferencing, and videoconferencing. One of the most important digital tools that I think is very helpful is E-mailing. Email is a store-and-forward method of writing, sending receiving, and saving messages through computers. E-mailing is very fast and provides the receiver the opportunity to answer immediately. Email messages are very easy to locate and is a secure way of sending messages. Although it has its disadvantages like, Spam, and viruses, I still think that is a very efficient, easy and low cost way to transmit messages. Emailing is also one of the tools most used in schools and colleges, it allows immediate communication between the student and the professor. It’s the way of send important information like grades, or to give an advance absent notice. Another helpful digital tool is Teleconferencing. This is a telephone or video meeting between multiple persons in two or more locations. Teleconferencing allows people to participate in regional, national, or worldwide meetings without actually leaving their location. This meetings, are more flexibles as participants can join the conference...
