Safety at York University Campus
Part C:
Part D:
My research question is “How does York University satisfy the needs of student’s safety that attend the campus.” First I will begin to define the terms “satisfy”, “need”, and “safety” in order to have a clear understanding of what my research topic. When I am addressing the term “satisfy” I mean in what ways of precaution does the university up hold to make them feel at ease throughout the day, the feeling of no fear against any man or woman, what type of protection is the university giving to the students. My second term is discussing the “needs” of students and by this I mean what are the different ways the campus is has provided to students such as posters, emails and safety tips on the bulletin board. The last term is “safety” and by this I mean through protection by security guards, increasing more cameras in less dense areas, or areas with low light during the evening hours.
The reason why I chose this research topic is because students and I are noticing lack of security on campus throughout the day and decrease of actions to amplify safety tips or actions towards the students. As crime increases on the York University campus, I would be interested of knowing and understanding where these events are taking place and determining what the solutions or outcome. I have been at this wonderful University for three years now and notice more security presence now then there was 3 years ago, as well as receiving more emails by the Vice-president of the University apologizing for the terrible crimes that occurred. I am also interested in this topic because I am interested in knowing what time of the day most crimes take place, what is the president of the university doing to prevent these crimes and what are the reactions of students and their personal views. Within this topic my main goal is to determine whether students feel safer in the morning verse the evening hours. (Morning: 6:30 am-9am and evening hours: 5:30pm-12:00am)
The research methods that I used to conduct my topic was through the use of qualitative research because it deals with human behaviour and asks the question of why and how of the participants decision making. Certain data collections I created were short survey/ interview questions, along with field notes during each handout. I chose this type of method because it would be quick and efficient to hand out to the students. Another method I chose was to hand out my Sources:

...accident in May and due to him not reporting the accident right away. PART 2: POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS There are four key issues that need to be addressed; should the crew still be awarded the prizes, ,why wasn’t the incident reported, is there any way to prove that Joe’s back injury is caused from the ATV accident verse the work incident, and lastly are there any other safety programs should be in place. The easiest issue to resolve is to decide if the crew should still be awarded the prizes. Should the crew still earn the rewards or should the entire right be punished because of one person. The next issue would be to determine why Joe did not report his injury. The management needs to decide if the crew is being bullied into not reporting accident’s to make the rig’s accident stat appear better than what it actually is or did Joe not report the incident out of ignorance? Is there any possibility that...

Detecting Media Bias

...because his family have worked the land since the 1880’s, which would give him rights to the land (Fox News, 2014) . The report by Fox News on their website appeared to be accurate, but it was clear that they were definitely siding more with Mr. Bundy than with the Federal Government. There were only comments and statements from Mr. Bundy himself or his supporters. When I checked the same story at CNN’s website, they had statements from both side of the issue. The report mentions how Bundy’s family called for assistance from Militia and his supporters after a couple acts of violence from law enforcement, his son was shot with a stun gun and his sister was pushed to the ground. There was no mention in the Fox new report, that the Bundy family and their supporters confronted rangers, and that a police dog was kicked and officers being assaulted, incidences that were reported on the CNN website (CNN, 2014). The report is clearly only reporting and favoring one side of the story, where as other news agencies are reporting a more balanced story. The Fox news report is putting a lot of emphasis on to the rights and treatment of Mr. Bundy, stating that the dispute has been going on for 20 years, which has had an effect on Mr. Bundy, and also comparing the recent scenario to the 1993 Waco, Texas incident, where 76 deaths occurred (Fox News, 2014). The report does not mention that Mr. Bundy owes nearly one million dollars in unpaid fees, and that the rangers are there carrying out...

...and fold may sound futuristic, but they could be coming in just a few months, if a new report turns out to be true. Samsung is reportedly working on a new smartphone with a flexible, bendable screen to be released in January, according to Sam Mobile, a blog covering Samsung news that has a solid track record when it comes to reporting on unannounced products. The blog says it received this information from a reliable Chinese tipster, citing a post on the Twitter-like Chinese social network Weibo as the source of the leak. Samsung is said to be testing the device in two versions: one that's powered by a Snapdragon 620 processor made by Qualcomm and another that runs on the chip maker's faster Snapdragon 820 processor. The version of the phone Samsung is currently testing is also said to have a microSD card slot and 3GB of RAM, which is just slightly less than the 4GB of RAM you'll find on the Galaxy Note 5. The foldable phone project is being called Project Valley internally, Sam Mobile reported four months ago. This is far from being the first time we've heard that Samsung has plans to release a phone that's completely bendable. Samsung said at its Analyst Day in 2013 that the company is putting resources into flexible and foldable phones, according to The Wall Street Journal. Samsung has also showcased its flexible YOUM screens at various conferences in years past. One concept video released by Samsung even shows a gadget that unfolds like a wallet to reveal multiple...

China's Geography: Video Report on Taiwan

...Yajing Zhang Professor Sun GEOG 324 November 27, 2013 Video Report #5: Taiwan Kyde and Eric, who, I believe, are an American couple working and living in Japan, videotaped these five series of videos. From the conversation between them, I think their work seems to be very busy, so when they finally got a chance to take a break, they decided to go to Taiwan. They not only taped the landscape but also themselves. They introduced everyplace they went, they also talked about their feelings at those places. I was really enjoying watching their videos, since their videos make me feel that I was with them in Taiwan. They had been to many places in Taiwan. They start from Taipei, and they went to many small towns and a couple of national parks. Wherever they went, they talked about the food, the hotels, the landscape, and some interesting phenomenon. In general, these videos are very interesting, and they show a lot of things about Taiwan. The first video was basically about the reason why they were going to Taiwan, and the first day in Taiwan. And the first day was all about the food, especially the food at night market. There is very interesting scene on the first day. When they were talking about the bad smell in the night market, I saw a sigh “fried stinky tofu” behind them. This is a cultural difference, they might think the food was terrible because it smells such stinky, they never knew it tastes very delicious. The following days, they continued to explore the city...

In drawing out the commonalities of their experiences, we have begun to shed light on the terrain. We must transform the terrain if women are to have equality and safety in their workplaces...

...jumping from account to account. At first Mr. Malone did not see a reason to purse an investigation, but Mrs. Cooper decided that there was further investigation needed. Mrs. Cooper looked into the report and realized that something was wrong with the reports and confronted Mr. Bobbitt about the findings. Mr. Bobbitt in the audit committee would take a look and see if the findings that Mrs. Cooper were valid. After finding that the findings were valid she then contact Mr. Farrell and he did an external investigation. After further investigation that the mid-level accounting directors Mr. Normand had confessed to just going along with what Mr. Sullivan had explained to him about the reports because he was afraid to tell anyone and wanted to resign. He was afraid that if he told anyone that he would lose his job and had a family to support. When looking at WorldCom situation it was good that the internal auditor committee took charge of the situation when it was brought to them. That was very ethical and then to have the external auditors take over to review the matter was the right step. Now the fact that you had an accountant that your CFO making false reports and switching money around is not very ethical. Not only did your CFO bring another person into the fraudulent reports, but now an external investigation has to be done and reported. There will be hefty fines and jail time for people in the company that went along with unethical behavior. The accounting activity was...

Manhunt

...posted a manifesto on his social network page and on February 3, 2013 it all began! His first 2 victims had been shot and killed and there were more deaths to follow. Dorner was after any and all law enforcement and anyone involved with them and LAPD had no idea what else was in store. The manhunt lasted for a little over a week and authorities had no idea where he was or what his next move could have been. Somehow, they caught up with him finally and it all ended with a cabin on fire and Dorner allegedly dead. ABC 7 was not subjective, they reported the information they had, and the reporters did not seem to make subjective comments in the first report. Some information I found odd to be reported was the preschool Dorner attended. Has the reports continued, it started to seem like all the stations were being subjective in their reports. Fox 11 news was the most subjective; the reporters shared how terrible they thought the events were and hoped for Dorner’s capture. In both stations the information that was omitted or never spoken of in detail was how good of a person everyone knew Christopher Dorner as. There were people who wanted to share their experiences with him and who have known him for years and never thought of him as a killer, but apparently none of that mattered at this point. NBC 4 was the most objective, there were no opinions, and they reported the information they had. All news stations seemed to omit any good information on the suspect, but at that point they were...
