1.07- In this video clip it explains the ports you would use to connect different types of devices to computers. It explains the ports you would use to connect a USB, printer, speakers, microphone, and an external hard drive. It talks about the features of serial, parallel, and game ports. Also explains what has changed about mouse and keyboards connections. They describe what a Network interface Card is and talks about the slowest way to connect to the internet. It explains the two types of video output ports are commonly on a computer. They go over what a USB is and its features.

Key Points: * Serial, Parallel, and Game ports have been mostly replaced by USB ports * A dialup modem is the slowest possible method of connecting to the internet * A Network Interface Card connects your computer to local networks, or the Internet * Early mouse used serial connector * Early keyboard used bulky 5-pin din connector * Modern keyboard and mouse use Ps/2 technology, which is a much smaller 6-pin din connector or USB/wireless connection * Modern computer comes with 2 types of video output ports (VGA,DVI) * Microphone, earphones, speakers are usually located in back of computer
Key Terms: * Serial ports- is a general-purpose interface that can be used for almost any type of device. (Male, 9 or 25 pins, transmits data 1 bit at a time) * Parallel ports- interface for connecting an external device such as a printer. (female, 25pins, transmits data 8 bits at a time) * Game ports- It was the traditional connector for joystick input devices until superseded by USB in the 21st century. (female, 15 pins(2row) * Network Interface Card (NIC) - converts parallel commutation to serial. * Modem- converts between the digital data of a computer and the analog signal of a telephone line. * Video Graphics Array (VGA) - a high-resolution standard for displaying text, graphics, and colors on computer monitors. * Digital Visual Interface (DVI) - is used to connect a video source, such as a display controller to a display device, such as a computer monitor. * Universal Serial Bus (USB) - an external serial bus interface standard for connecting peripheral devices to a computer.
The information in this video was very useful and taught me a lot of things I did not know. All the information was easy to understand and was interesting to hear.

1.09-
In this video they talk about the two different types of computer minors a CRT and a LCD. They discuss screen size, resolutions, specs, and how to configure display settings. It explains video cards, trouble shooting and how to change resolutions. They go over connectors, and video buses and tells you the danger of a CRT.
Key Points: * Specifications- screen size, contrast ratio, refresh rate for CRT, response time for LCD, interlacing, dot pitch, pixel pitch and resolution * CRT Resolution- 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, higher is better * LCD Resolution- fixed resolution, XGA 1024x768, SXGA 1280x1024, UXGA 1600x1200, WUXGA 1920x1200 * How to configure display settings- right click on desk top> properties> settings * Connectors- analog, digital and S-video * Video buses- AGP or PCI, PCI twice as fast as AGP * Video Cards- buy reputable brand, check bus type and speed and check video RAM
Key Terms: * Monitor- A display screen used to provide visual output from a computer. * Specifications- an act of describing or identifying something precisely or of stating a precise requirement. * Contrast ratio- is a property of a display system, defined as the ratio of the luminance of the brightest color (white) to that of the darkest color (black) that the system is capable of producing. * Screen size- Diagonal dimension of screen. * Refresh rate-is the number of times in a second that a display hardware updates its buffer. * Response time- is the total amount of time it takes to respond to a request for service.
The information in this video clip was very easy to understand as I already knew some of this information. I like that it did teach me some things I was wrong about. I did not know how to change the resolution. This was a good use of my time and I learn some new things.

1.11-
In this video it talks about the uses and basic functions of printers. It shows the common printers and how to use them. It also shows you the connectors and how to follow the steps for installing. The video shows how to deal with issues and troubleshooting.
Key Points: * Configure spooling * Change printer priorities * Set printer availability * Access the queue * Pause printing * Delete a print job * Change the default printer
Key Terms: * Printer- a machine for printing text or pictures onto paper, especially one linked to a computer. * Documents- a piece of written, printed, or electronic matter that provides information or evidence or that serves as an official record. * Spool- send (data that is intended for printing or processing on a peripheral device) to an intermediate store. * Queue- arrange in a queue. * Troubleshooting- trace and correct faults in a mechanical or electronic system.
The video had a lot of helpful things, but felt it was outdated. A lot of things I knew but didn’t understand the terms. The video helped me understand the terms more.
