...While the presence of Islam in West Africa some economic motivations, highlight the draw of Islam’s spiritual message. The presence of Islam in West Africa was related to trade and commerce in West Africa. Trade between West Africa and the Mediterranean preexisted Islam, however, North African Muslims strengthened the Trans-Saharan trade. North African traders were major factors in introducing Islam into West Africa. The past of Islam in West Africa can be explained in three stages, control, socializing, and reform. In the first stage, African kings controlled Muslim influence by segregating Muslim communities, in the second stage African leaders merged Islam with local traditions as the population selectively appropriated Islamic practices, and finally in the third stage, African Muslims forced for change in an effort to free their societies. Several factors led to the growth of the Muslim merchant-scholar class. Islam facilitated long distance trade by offering valuable tools for merchants for example the contract law, recognition, and information networks. They had the important ability of written script, which helped in the administration of kingdoms. Muslim communities in the forest zones were minority communities often linked to trading Diasporas. Many of the traditions in the forest zones still reflect the tradition of Saurian which focused on responsibilities of Muslims in a non-Muslim society. The boundaries of the ancient Kingdom encompassed the Middle Niger Delta......

Affordable Care Act

...The U.S health care system has gone through three changes within the last fifty years. In 1964 the federal government implemented Medicare and Medicaid followed by the Balance Budget Act in 1997. The third change made by the federal government was the Affordable Care Act. This bill was passed by congress on March 23, 2010 which required all Americans to obtain health insurance by law. The Affordable Care Act was implemented to the United States on January 1, 2014. According to an article the primary purpose of the Affordable Care Act is to “decrease the number of uninsured, expand access to affordable health care, dissolve the concept of charging higher insurance rates for people with preexisting conditions, and decrease overall costs of health care by focusing on quality rather than quantity” (Savel, 2014). In other words the Affordable Care Act’s purpose is to improve the quality and efficiency of the healthcare system. Although the Affordable Care Act is allowing more individuals to gain access to the health care system nevertheless, the health care system is not relocating the resources to provide the access to the thousands of new consumers. Due to the Affordable Care Act more Americans are now eligible for health insurance. For example individuals with pre-existing conditions before were either denied by health insurance or insurance was rather too expensive for them to purchase. According to Kavita K. Patel (2014) “Before the ACA, those with pre-existing medical......

Additionally, the quantity of surveying firms has expanded fundamentally in the course of recent years, making a "Wild, Wild West" environment for popular conclusion research because of the different sorts — and quality — of techniques used to gather information, as indicated by Andrea Perrella, chief of the Laurier Institute for the Study of Public Opinion and Policy. The surveying business is experiencing "dim days," he said. "Less individuals are noting overviews," Perrella clarified. "There is no more a solitary philosophy and even in the most precisely controlled phone surveys, reaction rates are so low we are not very beyond any doubt what those non-respondents are considering." Gone are the days when by far most of subjects had landlines and firms had solid arrangements of individuals they could arbitrarily call. Today, firms need to spend more cash to incorporate cellphone clients in telephone overviews, while different organizations assemble online boards of individuals who volunteer to be requested to answer questions on the web. Reconstruction to the Present

...William Evans HIS 202 Instructor Griffin December 4, 2013 Five Most Important Historical Events from Reconstruction to the Present History 202 at York Technical College covers historical events in America from Reconstruction to the present time. During this span of time, there were many wars and conflicts, as well as political, economic, and social changes that impacted the United States. While all events in history have some impact, not all are equally as important. I feel the five most important topics discussed in this class were the Industrial Revolution, the assembly line, the New Deal, the atomic bomb, and the Civil Rights Act. The Industrial Revolution was one of the most important events in United States history. The Industrial Revolution changed the way of life for Americans as many moved from an agrarian society in rural towns to an urban society in big cities where factories were located. Industrialization led to improvements in transportation and the railroad system which allowed factories to more efficiently transport raw materials. Additionally, the expansion of the railroad system led to the expansion of the United States bringing more remote parts of the country into the national market (“Rise”). The factory system led to increased production and created more jobs, but the working conditions were less than desirable with low wages, long hours, and unsafe conditions. These conditions led to the rise of labor unions and strikes demanding better pay and......

...Executive Summary Cross Cultural Analysis for Doing Business in Israel Casey Horner March 26, 2014 Introduction This report was commissioned to examine the necessary cross cultural analysis factor and processes due to extending business into Israel, and it suggests concerns and strategies to have successful business in Israel. The following are utilized and expressed in the examination: * Hofstede’s Dimensions of Culture * CAGE Framework in context of distance * Strategy recommendations Hofstede’s Dimensions of Culture These dimensions of culture include power distance, individualism, masculinity, uncertainty avoidance, and long-term orientation. Differences in Competencies Between Bsn and Adn

...The debate over Baccalaureate nursing degrees versus Associate nursing degrees or Diplomas has been a provocative topic in recent years. A controversial position paper from the American Nurses Association urged change in the field, stating: Baccalaureate education should become the foundation for professional practice. (Black, 2014, Chapter 7) Another study went further, recommending that Registered Nurses continue their higher education, earning Master’s degrees within 10 years of receiving licensure (Benner, 2009). Currently numbers for nurses holding baccalaureate degrees run between 55% and 61% of the workforce. Many studies conducted indicate better patient outcomes from nurses holding higher degrees. As nursing and healthcare move forward in complex changing times, the urgency of a better-educated workforce to meet needs becomes imperative. This paper intends to argue in support of this direction for nursing. Florence Nightingale, whose pioneering works laid the foundation for careers in nursing, held that nurses should be educated in higher learning. Her metaparadigm categories of person, health, environment and nursing paved the way for women to be involved in this field as a respected career choice, not just assistants to doctors. Attending the many needs of patients grew to understanding the individual as a holistic entity and helping people to get well, even if not sick. It became a popular thing to become a Nightingale nurse because it was prestigious, Jean C...

Adn vs Bsn

...Difference between associates degree level and baccalaureates degree level nurses Natalie D. Robinson Grand Canyon University: NRS-430V-O101 11/23/2015 As I have started doing my research on the difference of nurses with an associates degree versus nurses with a baccalaureates degree I have discovered many differences. There are three routes of becoming a Registered Nurse in the United States. First choice is to attend a 3 year diploma program which are typically administered at hospitals. There is also the path of choosing the 3 year associates degree program offered at community colleges or picking the 4 year baccalaureates degree program offered at senior colleges or universities. However, the goal of graduates of neither one of these programs is to sit for the NCLEX- RN licensing examination. Although, all nurses carry the same title RN but with different educational background. But the question is, what is the difference between the associates degree level and the baccalaureates degree associated to hands on nursing care and approaches to decision-making. Nursing Education National Council of State Boards of Nursing and The Forum of State Nursing Workforce Center has performed a study which presented 61 percentage of RNs working in the United States have obtained a BSN degree. Such high number displays a move towards an extremely high educated nursing workforce. 1988 a study was published in Research in Nursing and Health displayed that RNs with baccalaureates...

Hr Competencies of the 21st Century

...Chenise Wade HRMN 495 05 Oct 2015 HR Competencies of the 21st Century The old-fashioned role of HR in the 21st century is shifting into adding HR into organizational business development, which augments extra elements to the distribution of HR services. “In this new role, HR professionals who are managers and supervisors must take on the evolving roles of business partner, change agent, and leader in new organizational structures different from the past” (Business journal, 2008). The purpose of this paper is to expand upon six competencies that are beneficial to human resource professionals in this day and time. A competency can be described as “the success factors that enable the assessment, feedback, development, and reward processes for individuals to take place” (UMUC, 2015). Essential competencies act as the body of knowledge and expertise that each person requires. These can be established through teachings and are quite simple to recognize. Differentiating competencies differentiate higher performance from mediocre performance. Such competencies consist of self-concepts, personalities, and intentions; and while they are tough to cultivate, they can define lasting attainment in the workforce. “With a valid competency-development methodology, one can define, measure, and reward these competencies. Strategic competencies include those that are "core" competencies of the organization. These tend to focus on organizational capability and include competencies that......

Educational Preparation

...Title: Exploring the Competencies Between Nurses Trained at the Associates degree level versus the Baccalaureate degree level Grand Canyon University: Professional Dynamics   Competency Differences Between Associate and Baccalaureate Nurse Training As I embark on another educational endeavor, it is important to understand the return on investment that will be gained from committing time, energy, and finances to an advanced degree. There have been numerous studies and research that have proven that nurses trained at the baccalaureate level are associated with lowering the odds of patient mortality, creating better outcomes for patients, and decreasing the occurrence of medication errors (AACN, 2015). To be a nurse, be it at the associate or baccalaureate level, means the same thing: to provide compassionate care through the “promotion of health, prevention of illness, and the care of ill, disabled and dying people. Advocacy, promotion of a safe environment, research, participation in shaping health policy and in patient and health systems management, and education are also key nursing roles” (ICN, 2002). However; since 1965, the American Nurses Association (ANA) has taken the stance the nurses should be educated, at minimum, at the baccalaureate level for entrance into the profession as the belief that an increasing number complex health issues and growing number of advancements in knowledge require education beyond nursing basics (Nelson, 2002). This paper will......

Adn vs Bsn

...The Difference between an ADN nurse and a BSN nurse Amber R Morales Grand Canyon University: NRS-430V April 24, 2015 Nurses are prepared in many ways, from the associates Degree (ADN), to a baccalaureate degree(BSN) and beyond to masters and doctoral. Just like with humans, nurses come in different shapes and sizes per se, but all with one main focus of providing the highest level of care to our patients and their family. All nurses take the same national exam, NCLEX-RN, which test for “minimum technical competency for a safe entry” into the nursing environment (Creating a More Highly Qualified Nursing Workforce, 2015). The NCLEX-RN is a national certification, but each states board of nursing provides licensing. Daily the healthcare system is changing, therefor nursing is continuously changing. As hospitals try to achieve different levels of ranking or status, the nursing field will have to make needed changes to meet the requirements as well. Hospitals are putting into effect the needed requirements of their nursing staff to become more knowledgeable in their care, provide the highest level of care, and constantly ensuring patient safety. This paper will focus on the differences in approach, explain the roles and skills made by the associates-degree prepared registered nurse (RN) versus a baccalaureate-degree prepared RN. Initially RN’s did not receive licensure in the medical field or proper training, but Mildred Montag “revolutionized nursing education.” Due......
