Protection of intellectual property is a major concern, but so are the value of contracts, domain names, and handling legal issues in a multinational environment.
“Intellectual property rights, such as patents, copyright, trademarks, trade secrets, trade names, and domain names are very valuable business assets. Federal and state laws protect intellectual property rights from misappropriation and infringement” (Cheeseman, 2004). Riordan’s Internet site states, “Riordan Manufacturing, Inc. is an industry leader in the field of plastic injection molding. With state-of-the art design capabilities, we create innovative plastic designs that have earned international acclaim” (Apollo Group, Inc., 2005). ... take in to consideration the fact that is the accusation credible, so you don’t wreck the career of a good employee, or if the accusation turns creditable you have to becarefull you don’t hurt the accuser as well. IS it ethical to just fire the person who is accused of harassment, no you have to follow the steps, take all actions in consideration, and choose which one full fills the needs of the complain tent and the company. Having the help of people above me helps, but this had to come down to using this as a great way to also protect people from future problems with harassment and also protect the people involved. The second issue had some of the same ethical dilemmas, who to protect, whets to learn from this, how to make sure this doesn’t happen again. Also, I think the journal and other researches should check to make sure the results are true as well. These are people lives and money at stake, and people shouldn’t falsify things to get the results they want. Also, not to keep it quiet, the company could have faced lawsuits further down the road if this was corrected soon. In the long run, I think I handled the situation, by bringing this to the attention of and finding a better way to protect our coworkers, and making sure the handbook explains the process of harassment better and make people better away of things. Action taken against the accused needed to be done as well, they can’t get away with this. The situation of the falsifying results I think by......

A review of the existing infrastructure at Riordan has been completed and the findings are contained in this document. There will be a listing of what was found followed by a proposed upgrade system layout. The scope of this project is to cover the following systems and subsystems and to explain how they all interact one with another. Everything from AR, AP, payroll, General Ledger, purchasing, inventory controls, metrics, and employee payroll processing has been managed by team of well-qualified members who have demonstrated utmost professionalism for many years. In addition to these many time-consuming tasks, strict quarterly audits are also conducted throughout the company on a regular basis, most of which have met or exceeded industry standards. Therefore, the issue here the company faces is not one of quality, but rather one of efficiency. To date, many of the systems and procedures in place, while affective, are not as streamline or as consistent as they could be. Still others (e.g. audits), although effective, are taking weeks to complete when most similar operations today can finalize internal audits in a matter of...

Some F and A data is provided to corporate via data files; some data is provided via hardcopy reports and must be re-entered; some data is provided via data files but must be converted to the proper account codes and the list goes on. ...Riordan Manufacturing Mr. Hugh McCauley, COO of Riordan Manufacturing, came to me and asked for my help to develop a modern application that integrates all the existing programs that are used by the Human Resource (HR) department for the different areas in the company. He is also requesting a description of the business requirements for the HR system, and he would also like how the plan can be implemented, time, cost, and what each department would need to collect for me to be able to do this project. Mr. McCauley has also asked me to have the system up and running in six months because he would like to use it by the second quarter at all location. In each of the different departments of Riordan Manufacturing, I would need to gather any information that would be necessary for the departments to complete their job such as files that are shared, applications used, and anything else they exchange on a daily basis. I would request this information from the department head or person in that department that I would choose as a representative for that department. I would also give them a couple weeks to gather all of the information that they feel like they would be in need of or that would help them to be better and return it to me. The departments, or stakeholders, of the company areas followed: Finance and Accounting, Sales and Marketing, Human Resources (HR), Operations, Legal, and Information Technology (IT). Understandably, the systems will need enhanced security with the large amounts of information now being opened from the business, but we have proposed to purchase information restricting software (Cisco) and massive anti-virus software (Norton). While the costs of this new system may seem stifling in the beginning, upkeep is rather easy and replacement parts are easily accessible. As well as inventory enhancements, we have also added a Video Tele-Conferencing System (VTC) for management and training purposes. How do these modifications improve or help Riordan Manufacturing, Riordan Industries? I’m glad you asked. What we are providing to Riordan in the way of Inventory Management will not only cut down on the amount of errors processed by staff, but the amount of time it actually takes in order to do a full inventory log. Tracking systems will be emplaced to track incoming materials, and a small conversion system will track how much inventory was used by dividing out product/materials. The rate at which we can now track incoming materials and outgoing materials, new delivery schedules can be produced in order to prevent overstocking of certain materials.
