It is very important for both the mother and the baby to be checked appropriately during various stages of pregnancy, but the last month is the most crucial and where the most important checks take place. Checks involving blood tests to determine the woman’s blood sugar level or their blood type are done in the early stages of pregnancy. As these rarely change drastically, they do not usually need to be checked in the last month of the pregnancy.

Checks on the mother are very important as you want the mother to be in the best condition for delivering a baby. The wellbeing of the mother will almost determine how smoothly the birth will go and how healthy the baby will be when delivered. If the mother is unwell, this could make drastic complications when giving birth. One of the most important checks on the mother is her blood pressure. If this is too high or low, this could complicate the pregnancy and put either the mothers or baby’s life at risk. If the blood pressure is too low, it can cause the woman to feel faint, or dizzy. This is bad because the woman could possible faint, making the possibility of hitting the baby when falling. If the blood pressure is too high, the woman may be at risk of having a heart attack. Having high blood pressure may be a sign of the mother in stress, or the baby in a state of stress.
