Vlad the Impaler, a blood eating killer, once said, “Whatever power you think you might have, I possess the ability to take it away”(Vlad Dracula- 616). Vlad was a ruler in the Middle Ages who showed harsh treatment to his country’s people. While in power, he killed hundreds or thousands of people, most being the old or children. He controlled Transylvania by scaring and taking away all independence and ruled with an iron fist. Although Vlad III had a relatively short reign, he was known as one of the most feared leaders.

He set up a city called Targoviste as his capital and began to build his castle, which is far away in the mountains. His first wife committed suicide instead of surrendering to the Turks. Vlad escaped, but he was caught by the Turks and imprisoned in a royal tower. During this time, he met a woman who was royal and had two sons. Vlad is the number one influence to tell the world's scariest stories, for example Dracula. He is commonly known as the real Count Dracula, the reason is he drank the blood of his dead or dying victims(Anset web). It was often pondered if Stoker based Dracula on Vlad(Pallardy web). After a bloody battle with the Turks, Vlad was beheaded. As proof that he was dead, they sent Vlad’s head to the Ottoman Sultan(Anset web).
In his time, Vlad the Impaler was the most violent person who was king. He was probably the only person to drink blood from and kill thousands of innocent people.
