Volunteer Abroad Personal Statement

I have always wanted to volunteer abroad, specifically overseas, and learn from a new culture. I am a natural explorer, and have always been a very curious person. What interests me most about going to Berlin, Germany is being immersed within the city and living with a host family. I can’t imagine a better way to learn than to communicate with people that live the experience. I want to gain a new perspective on the world, and be able to use my new knowledge to reflect on myself and learn how to be a better teacher. The program I am applying for is living with a family and teaching them English. I want to be a high school English teacher in America; but I thought, how cool would it be to teach English to people that do not speak it at all! I

How to Write a Cv

...How to write a CV? A curriculum vitae (U.K.) or a résumé (U.S.) is a formal and professional document. It should therefore have a professional appearance. And above all, it must be free of errors. • no misspelled words • no grammatical errors • no incorrect references to names, dates, and places In order to get hired, you have to get an interview. In order to get an interview, your cv has to be read. The chances of your cv being read in its entirety diminish drastically if your cv has errors. Business Btec Level 3

...Two Business on our doorstep – Continued P3 and P4 I will carry on looking at the 2 businesses; Asda and RSPCA. I will be describing the business organisation, an explanation of the style of the organisation within the business and how it helps them to fulfil their purpose. An organisational structure enables a business to meet their purposes, it divides up the work and establishes lines of control and community. Dividing up work allows a clear understanding of who is doing what. The organisational structure is often a chain of command or line of control and sets out important aspects of how communication takes place. The organisational structure controls organisational activities to avoid conflict and individuals making decisions. The structure depends on the organisations objectives, purpose and strategy. The top layer of the structure usually has the most power and control of the businesses decisions.[1] There are several different organisational structures, these include flat, hierarchical and matrix. They all are in place to make sure that the business is set out in a clear way and is easier to see who is above who. The difference between hierarchical and flat structure is that there may only be two or three levels in a flat structure because they are designed for small businesses like a local hairdressers. [2]The matrix structure is where the employees have dual reporting relationships, generally to both a functional manager and a product manager. It is not set out...

Concept Analysis of Responsibility

...corporate responsibility: Environment – reducing damage to benefit the company and the people of the world. Philanthropy – resources that benefit charities and communities. Ethical labor practices – treating employees well, even those outside the U.S. (B.N.D. 2015). The inclination to follow what society views as acceptable is considered personal responsibility (Haskins.2009). Not blaming others for the mistakes one makes is the most important part of this type of responsibility. Owning up to and learning from our mistakes is what helps us cultivate personal responsibility. There are parental responsibilities that are considered legal obligations. For example, The UN convention on the rights of a child are as follows, “The child shall be registered immediately after birth and shall have the right from birth to a name, the right to acquire a nationality and as far as possible, the right to know and be cared for by his or her parents” (Dad Info. 2014). Parental responsibilities gives the parent undeniable rights such as the other parent cannot change the child’s surname, put the child up for adoption, or even travel abroad without consent (Dad Info. 2014). Civic responsibility involves the community that you live in. It means...

Ebola

...New York revises controversial policy on Ebola quarantines amid pressure New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo (D) on Sunday revised a controversial policy to quarantine returning health-care workers from Ebola-stricken nations, under pressure from the Obama administration and medical experts over the aggressive measures. Elaborating on the procedures, Cuomo said health-care workers who have been in contact with Ebola patients but do not show symptoms of the deadly virus can return to their homes but will be forced to remain there while being monitored by state health officials for symptoms. He said those being monitored can interact with family and friends. “It’s not like this is the toughest duty,” Cuomo said in a news conference late Sunday with New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D). The change separates the state’s quarantine process from that of New Jersey, which has come under scrutiny after the weekend retention of a nurse who showed no symptoms of Ebola. Kaci Hickox, who returned from Sierra Leone after working with Doctors Without Borders, has been held in isolation at a site attached to a New Jersey hospital. On Sunday, Hickox told CNN’s Candy Crowley on “State of the Union”: “This is an extreme that is really unacceptable, and I feel like my basic human rights have been violated.” Cuomo said New York’s new policy is more in line with those of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He said people who are quarantined in their homes will be able to interact with...

Fullbright Essay

...required: The Personal Statement and the Study/Research Proposal. These essays serve very different but complementary purposes. Unless noted, the following information comes straight from the Fulbright Web site. THE PERSONAL STATEMENT (1 Page) The following information is applicable to both Study/Research and ETA applicants: The Personal Statement should be a narrative giving a picture of you as an individual.  Remember, applicants are not interviewed on the national level. The Personal Statement is your opportunity to “talk” about yourself and to tell the committee more about how you came to this point in your life and where you see yourself in the future.  There is no single “right way” to approach the Statement; rather candidates will consider what they think is important for people reviewing the application to know about them. The Statement can deal with your personal history, family background, influences on your intellectual development, the educational and cultural opportunities (or lack of them) to which you have been exposed, and the ways in which these experiences have affected you.  Also, you may include your special interests and abilities, career plans, and life goals, etc. It should not be a recording of facts already listed on the application or an elaboration of your Statement of Grant Purpose.   It is more of an autobiography, and specifically related to you and your aspirations. Adhere to the following format: • Statement length is limited...

Gap Year: Good/Bad

...earn money for tuition, programs involving international travel or service work are more common among affluent students or those from competitive high schools, where pressure to get good grades and gain admission to a leading college is most intense. Burnout from the competitive pressure of high school and a desire "to find out more about themselves," are the top two reasons students take gap years. Many competitive colleges and universities encourage applicants to pursue a gap year option after graduating from high school. The colleges believe that students who come to higher education with an extra year of life experience bring valuable perspective to the classroom. Real world life experience gives gap year students a greater sense of personal direction and specific...
