Overview:

For the final project we are to pick a product or service with a new product. The service I decided to go with involves a dog service but is a new service offered from the company Wag! The company is a dog walking service that allows the user to request a person to walk their dog on demand. With the user picking the time of day and the length of walk for their dog it allows the user to get their furry friends out of the house while they might be at work or away all day. It was founded on that purpose alone; founder Joshua Viner wanted to get a dog but knew the burden it takes when one is working full time (Wag!.com). Right now they only offer dog walking, so the new service I want to roll out is where you can have your dog taken …show more content…
could be the research of cities to map out where locations have suitable dog parks and the availability of those dog parks. This is unique since dog parks have differing requirements and hours of operation. Some dog parks only allow big dogs or small dogs while some divide the two up and others will include every dog in one area. Also, which ones are grass and which ones might be all dirt. The research involved would take an extensive amount of time and money. Given each area that this service wants to operate in WAG! will have to be willing to sacrifice that time and effort. This is where weighing the cost of research will come into play.
A big risk that WAG! Will face is the possibility of something going wrong at the dog park while in the care of the dog walker. The dog walkers are watching over the dogs to ensure that something won’t happen, but accidents happen and WAG! must protect themselves from this. During transportation of the dog in the car the driver is liable for any accident that might occur while driving. That is why they must be insured so they are covered of any liability for this. Liability insurance can run high so this is an added expense that the company must take on but it will ultimately save the company from being …show more content…
can use the watch/monitor strategy. This would allow WAG! to watch the amount they are charging and how many requests they are receiving. WAG! could charge $30 for half an hour and $40 for a full hour at the dog park which would be an increase of ten dollars from their walking service. The extra ten dollars would help cover the cost of gas for the dog walkers. WAG! currently takes about a 40% cut from each dog walking service which is said to be on par with current services (Wilhelm). This would mean that the dog walkers would earn $24 for each hour or $18 for the half hour of work at the current rate. In this scenario I would actually recommend WAG! to reduce the percentage they take out to promote dog walkers to sign up for the new service. I would reduce the percentage from 40% to 30% giving the employees an incentive to participate in the new service. This would hopefully mitigate the risk of not finding employees while being fair to both parties involved.
