REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
The important usage of all parts of MoringaOleifera has been utilized by the different parts of the world as medicinal, antimicrobial, antibacterial, antiviral, and even clarifying drinking water. This rapidly-growing tree was utilized by ancient Romans, Greeks, and Egyptians. It is now widely cultivated and has become naturalized in many locations in the tropics and has an antibiotic ability (Fahey, 2005). It has been introduced and become naturalized in other parts of India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Southeast Asia, West Asia, the Arabian Peninsula, East and West Africa, Southern Florida, throughout the West Indies, and from Mexico to Peru, Paraguay, and Brazil (Mahmood, 2010).
In a research study conducted by Suleymanet. al. (2009) found that MoringaOleifera is the best natural coagulant discovered yet, that can replace aluminum sulfate which is use widely all around the world. The study was conducted to find the active constituents which are responsible about the coagulation mechanism and improving the coagulation property. The percentage chemical compositions of MoringaOleifera Seed Powder consist of protein, carbohydrates, and lipids with more sodium than potassium. Phytochemical tests and spectral studies led to the elucidation of steroidal glycoside-strophantidin as a bioactive agent in the seed.
Comparative studies with alum showed that the seed paste was effective in the clarification and sedimentation of inorganic and organic matter in raw water .It reduced the total microbial and coliform count by 55% and 65% respectively. Pterygospermin, and antifungal substance has been extracted from the flower, 4-Hydroxymellein, vanillin, B-Sitosenone, and B-Sitosterol have been characterized from the stem while benzyl isothiocyanak and moringyne have been elucidated from the seeds. Bacteria in raw water were reduced up to 95% after the treatment with Moringa seed Powder. The seed extract lowered the pH of the water samples while the concentration of some essential minerals such as K, Na, Fe ad Mg increased appreciably after the seed treatment. The seed extract achieved 90% and 95% sedimentation of the suspended particles in underground water and surface water samples (Alabi&Olayemi, 1994).
The Turbidity, pH and Conductivity and total coliform were determined for all the samples. The Turbidity for the samples ranged from log10.030 to log101.36 NTU while the conductivity ranged from log102.29 to log102.72 M s/cm. the 12 g/L treatment of Moringa and 10 and 12 g/L alum treatments gave values that are acceptable according to the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines for drinking water .It showed that a powder seed kernel of MoringaOleifera contains some coagulating properties at loading the conventional coagulum, alum (Amagloh&Benang, 2009).
The Work of Oluduro and Aderiye (2007) was to investigate impacts of Moringa seed extract on the physicochemical properties of surface and underground water in Nigeria. The study reported that a MoringaOleifera seed contains 37.8% protein, 36.2% fat, 3.67% crude fiber and 9.48% ash. It is also reach in Magnesium (129.6 mg/L), potassium (103.5 mg/L), Na (70.1 mg/L), Ca (34.6 mg/L) and iron (5.4 mg/L). According to Anwar and Rashid (2007), the moringaoleifera seed oil contains oleic acid up to 73.22%.
Other purpose of conducting the study about MoringaOleifera is that the examination of antibacterial activity of methanol and h-hexane extracts of MoringaOleifera and MoringaStenopetala seeds that was conducted on 3 bacterial species (S. Typhii, V. Cholerae, and E.Coli) which causes water borne diseases. The highest inhibitions were observed at dilution of 20.5 and 40% of MoringaOleifera and MoringaStenopetala and a higher inhibition on S. Typhii than V. Cholerae and E. Coli. The results showed that MoringaOleifera and MoringaStenopetala had a degree of antibacterial properties especially in low doses (Atieno, Wagai, Arama, &Ogar, 2010). The study conducted by Atieno, Wagai, Arama, and Ogar (2010) showed that MoringaOleifera and MoringaStenopetala extracts bear antimicrobial properties agains S. Typii, V. Cholerae, and E. Coli. These extracts could be promising natural applications in controlling bacteria that cause water borne disease.
In acquiring the study of MoringaOleifera Seed as a Water Filter, constant research was done. Facts were gained from books and computer resources. The abundance of the said shrub which most of the time left out wilted aroused a curious mind thus the research drew its concept. The accessibility and availability of the Malunggay seed inspired the research where an actual and continuous propagation was made to ensure the quality during the several process of experimentation.

A series of composite boards consisting of various proportions of waste feather, cement, sand, and chemical admixtures were prepared. Mix workability decreased significantly as the proportion by weight of feathers or ground feathers increased from 5% to 20%. Boards containing 5% to 10% fiber and/or ground feather by weight showed comparable strength and dimensional stability to commercial wood fiber-cement composites of similar thickness and density. Stiffness, flexural strength, and dimensional stability of the feather-cement boards decreased as the proportion of feathers was increased above 10%. Higher proportions of feather, however, showed significant reduction in modulus of elasticity (MOE) and modulus of rupture (MOR), and increased water absorption and thickness swelling after 24 hours of soaking in water. Facroy Farming

...Freedom Lost, Factory Farming With Egg Laying Chickens Katelyn Felix Upper Iowa University Filth, confinement, disease, mutilation, and deprivation are a few things that come to mind when factory farming is mentioned. It is a rapidly growing problem in the United States. Factory farming first started in the 1930’s on a low scale. New kinds of incubators lead to chickens being able to be produced in larger quantities in large scale operations. After World War II the increased demand of eggs led to specialized breading and an increase in factory farming in the United States. Soon following suit between the 1960’s and 1970’s was the boom of fast food chains thus increasing the demand for cheap, fast products (Safe for Animals, 2012). Mass production swept the nation at the expense of the animals and our health. This movement cannot be stopped unless people can get informed with what is happening in these factory farms, and possible alternatives to better our nation’s moral standing. Factory farming of egg laying hens is when they are kept under strict guidelines with intensive methods in order to achieve mass production, in this case, of eggs. These hens are deprived of life, they are only used as means of production and might as well be categorized as machines. First let’s discuss the killing and disposal of chickens in this industry. In the egg industry obviously hens are the only useful chicken to these business owners, seeing as males cannot produce eggs, because of that...

...techniques including audio codes. The documentary uses audio codes to tell the viewer what country they are in. There’s a lot of audio codes used indicating that the problem with plastic is a widespread issue. Audio codes are shown for Africa, Japan, Texas, Australia etc. This shows that plastic isn’t just a problem in Australia but other developed and developing countries. The viewer is forced to respond negatively as they didn’t know the extent of the problem until they saw all the countries being affected. Paragraph 2 A technique used within the documentary is montage. Ian Connacher (the director) used montage to present the issue of excessive rubbish waste. When they are out at sea collecting plastic there is a variety of photos showing rubbish and how much there is. This example makes the reader see how much waste there is in the world and they come to realize that this is a huge, wide spread problem. The viewer responds to this positively because the director uses montage to show the extent of plastic disposal and this urges the viewer to realize that they have to change there ways. Paragraph 3 Another technique within the documentary is setting. The director uses the setting to present the issue that plastic is destroying our environment. An example of this is when a flowing river is shown and then they a river filled with plastic. This indicates that plastic is destroying our environment and also it contrasts the beautiful setting with the ugly setting filled with...

Persuasive Essay On Eating Animals

...an Associated Press writer, a court ruling astonishingly denied charges against Bahan with animal cruelty after tossing 30,000 chickens in a woodchopper. We’ve all heard the dispute that animals die eventually, but so do humans and that’s not a valid excuse to torture someone which ridiculously factory farmers use the same argument to justify that what they’re doing isn’t inhumane. It is sad how society has normalized the murder of animals for their own benefit but it is not only our fault. The food industry has made people ignorant to the facts and they have done an incredible job at portraying their industry as upright. We’ve all seen it, the “Happy cow” commercials, the farmers speaking of their healthy cows and animals, companies lying to get people to purchase their products. As a farmer, it is impossible to say you care about your livestock’s wellbeing while you keep your poultry sharing a cage the size of a school desk and your cattle in a space the size of a baby’s crib. These situations could clearly lead to any animal, in that matter even a human, to getting aggravated after time, which is exactly what happens in these cases. Chickens for example, begin to peck at each other and ultimately kill one another, which is the purpose of beak trimming. The USDA tells of the procedure which involves cutting part of the bird’s beak to prevent feather picking and cannibalism. When they trim a bird’s beak, a lot of the times it is extremely hard, if not impossible, for the bird...

Animal Cruelt Research Paper

...What Are the Effects of Animal Cruelty? Dalvi Herrera English 135 Professor Michael Gurin August.25, 2012 Do you know what animal cruelty is? This is a common question where people would probably answer with the same response. The thing is that do you really know what animal cruelty is? Animal cruelty is not only physical abuse that animals receive but also on many other factors. This type of animal cruelty mostly occurs on industrial farms. You’re also probably wondering what an industrial farm is. Well let’s just say that it’s a bad thing. A traditional farm is a farm where they raise livestock the original way. What I mean by the original way is that the animals have freedom. Animals have the ability to roam around in big spaces and live how they want with human maintenance. With this freedom, they can grow up to be healthy. An industrial farm is the opposite farm. The purpose of an industrial farm is to raise livestock and then ship them out to be slaughtered. Animals here have no freedom and no right. Animals are made to live under very harsh conditions. The living conditions are very poor. They are forced to live in a small environment with the same kind of animals. It’s so small and crowded that animals could barely move. With so many animals living in a small area, they all live in their own manure. There is maintenance in the farm but sometimes animals just live in such a long period of time in their own manure. This causes many effects but I will explain them...

Feasibility Study

...MANOK na BISAYA” NATIVE DELIGHT (BISAYANG MANOK-“BISNOK”) A Feasibility Study on Poultry business in Davao City ABSTRACT This study aims to know the feasibility of Bisayang Manok as a poultry business in Davao City that may add to the supply to the excessive demand of bisayang manok in certain restaurants in the city. The chicken industry in the Philippines consists of commercial sectors and backyard sectors. Commercial sector includes hybrid chickens and broilers which occupies a larger percentage in country’s chicken supply and production. On the other hand, the backyard sector includes native chickens which has insufficient supply, yet has a high consumer demand in the market. The supply of native chickens in Davao City is not enough to meet the increasing demand of the consumers. Thus, the Native Delight wants to increase the production and supply of native chickens in the city. If the study turns to be feasible, for the meantime, the Native Delight will only cater a particular famous restaurant in Davao City. However, in the long run, Native Delight will cater a larger scale of consumers. The study uses Darag native chicken. It will be free-ranged, and be fed by organic foods. The results indicated that Bisayang Manok as a poultry business in Davao City is a feasible business. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT This Feasibility Study was made possible...

Farming

...Factory Farming Each year millions of pigs, chickens, cows, and other mass produced animals are being abused, brutally murdered, and have even become a health hazard to human beings. Many people have turned a blind eye to this world wide epidemic so they can continue to benefit from the prices and convenience of factory farmed animals. It is true that man is the ruler over animals, but they are still living creatures that do feel pain from abuse and do still suffer when neglected. It’s bewildering to realize that we as a human race have revolutionized women’s rights, civil rights, and even going as far as protecting the environment but we continue to accept the horrific abuse of animals. It’s time for a change! Today’s farming has come a long way from what it was like forty or fifty years ago but trust me not in a positive way. Since what most people focus on now a day is money that is all they seem to care about. First lets define the word brutality according to the free dictionary on on-line brutality is the state or quality of being ruthless, cruel, harsh, or unrelenting (Brutality, 2000). Many large corporation run most of the farms today due to the economy and regular farmers not being able to afford to run let alone own a farm, factory farming has become the way to do business, despite the fact that animals are meant to graze on green pastures and drink from clean watering holes many animals are instead being confined to small cages, being brutally abused, getting...
