After researching various shared web hosts, I have narrowed my choices to three sites: Fatcow.com, Myhosting.com and Dreamhost.com. I am researching the basic plan for each web hosting site because I only have a small business. The first one, Fatcow.com, drew me in to its web hosting site because it has completely “gone green.” It powers its entire web hosting site with wind energy. Another interesting aspect to the web hosting site seems is the free shopping cart option, which allows my customers to purchase directly off the site (FatCow, 2010).
As a second choice, I researched Dreamhost.com for two features with which the other web hosting sites could not compete. The two features include a lower price on the basic package at $2.95/month and a 97-day money-back guarantee. The other two web hosting sites only offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. Additionally, this web site is about seventy cents cheaper than the other two web hosting sites (DreamHost, 2010).
My final selection, Myhosting.com, offers free spam filtering and web log analysis for its basic package. These two features are not offered on my other web hosting sites of choice. Spam filtering stops unwanted e-mails that would otherwise take up the company’s time and money through which to sort. This site also provides free web log analysis which is important when determining web site traffic; therefore, one can evaluate the progress of the business (SoftCom Inc., 2009).
After looking at 2010 web hosting comparisons, I have come to the conclusion that Fatcow.com proves to be the best choice for my business. Furthering my decision is the information provided on TopTenREVIEWS, which ranks Fatcow.com at number 4 in their standings of best web hosting companies to use. Myhosting.com ranks in at number 8, while Dreamhost.com does not even make the cut (TopTenREVIEWS, 2010).

I will also state the necessary steps to support the company’s migration from external to internal hosting. With the overall goal being to allow the customer the ability to order products in this case being a bag of chips from the website. Data migration will occur over a two week period with charts and diagrams to show the steps and timeline to accomplish the necessary tasks. The company is very concerned with redundant systems to ensure that there is no more than 5 minutes of down time in any given 365 day period. With web hosting fees going down over the past several years, it makes little sense for a business to host their own web site on their own computers. Web hosting companies do a large volume business it only makes sense to allow them to host for and it is cheaper than trying to do it yourself. The Advantages of using a web hosting company include but are not limited to, studies show that self-hosted site are down on the average two weeks a year. Bandwidth requirements is also another important part when looking for a web hosting company, making sure that you have adequate bandwidth will ensure that you site is not slow or down when a lot of people are visiting the website. They also will support application add-in such as WordPress and Drupal which will allow me to select an add-in that I would like to support for running the site. There is a need to follow the system development life cycle (SDLS) for it to be successful and have transformational effect on the company’s operation (Klein, S. 2007). ...along with its business. For the delivery of smiles, 1-800-FLOWERS implemented more scalable, centralized e-commerce platform to support its rapid business growth. Also the company fills its orders in two ways: through a network of florists and through drop shipments. It established a florist-to-florist network called BloomNet, and is one of several floral wire services in the country today. The company was among the first retailers to partner with CompuServe and AOL, in 1992 and 1994 respectively. In April 1995, the company was one of the first retailers to establish its own Internet sales site. In 1999, the company went public on the NASDAQ stock exchange under the ticker symbol FLWS and changed its name to 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, to match its web site address. E-Commerce Growth As the Internet started to become commercial in the 1990s, the early adopters were primarily tech-savvy males. So it only made sense that the first e-commerce business that launched on America Online was something that many men desperately needed: a 24-hour flower shop. 1-800-Flowers, a retailer that started with one flower shop in New York in 1976—and went national, thanks to its popular phone number—was in fact the first e-tailer on AOL in 1994. Today, more than half of the...

...How to Choose the Best Web Hosting Provider Without the best web hosting, your ability to run a successful website is going to be seriously hindered. One of the worst mistakes you can make is to choose a web hosting provider at random. If there's a situation that calls for some thought, consideration and research, choosing a web hosting provider is it. There's a dizzying array of web hosting providers competing for your business. How can you pinpoint the best one? Start by keeping the following points in mind. Technical Specifications for Your Website Hosting The first thing you need to do when shopping for a web host is to evaluate your disk space and bandwidth needs. If your site will feature a lot of graphics, dozens of pages and get a lot of traffic, you're going to need decent amounts of bandwidth and disk space. Unlimited plans are available, and they make life easier. If your site is going to be simple and not generate a huge amount of traffic, you should be able to get away with smaller amounts of disk space and bandwidth. Keep compatibility in mind, too. In the excitement of looking for a website hosting provider, you might overlook one critical thing: the type of operating systems that are supported. You're not going to want to switch operating systems, so double-check this point before settling for a provider. Reliability and availability are critical characteristics to consider when shopping around for web hosting. The best web hosting providers offer availability...
