...The goals of this website should be demonstrated in several forms. When I sat down with relatives to talk about the goals of this one of the first questions that I ask is why you think the site should have any goals. Often, there’s a moment of uncomfortable silence before someone replies, because everyone genially thinks that IT is tremendously hard. A couple of the answers that I got were that asking for certain web addresses maybe a disadvantage. In addition, some courses build a website for branding purposes, or to provide information to potential clients, thinking that one-way communication is a return on investment, and therefore a valid goal. Another one of the goals that a user may see is that using a website is merely to provide information is like using an airplane to drive around town without ever leaving the ground, you’re missing the real opportunity to help your business take-off by creating opportunities to follow up with qualified prospects. Measurable objectives are the specific measures we use to determine whether or not we are successful in achieving the goal. The objectives are instructions about what we want the student to be able to do. Use verbs and include specific conditions that describe to what degree the students will be able to demonstrate mastery of the task for the website that any user would love to see. Some educators call these learning outcomes; others call them measurable objectives; and yet others call them behavioral objectives......

... I have selected an automotive repair shop which not only repairs cars that need to be fixed, but also has a small sales section which sells tires and services related to tires such as mounting the tires, etc. I have based the answers on this automotive repair shop located in the near vicinity of my house. 1. What Internet business model would be appropriate for the company to follow in creating a Web site and why? Each Internet business model is based upon certain skills and incorporates a certain set of responsibilities. Each of the models offers a wide variety of benefit. We need to comprehend the kind of Web site functionality necessary for the different sites and particularly which factors can provide this certain competence so that we can get the assessment of our related expenditures. There are three most common Internet business models - product sales, service sales, and information delivery. For this particular business of an automotive repair shop, I would like to make a mixed approach of 2 of the 3 business models. Apart from repairing automobiles and tires, which can be specified as service sales, the shop can also include the product sales by which they can sell the tires as well at a small scale. The proper model on which the website can be based could be a virtual storefront. There will be information on the storefront about the inventory about which tires are currently available at the store of the shop and what is the specification and price for each of them...

But before you can make full use of this traffic analysis, you must understand how to interpret this data. The aim is to use the web traffic statistics to figure out how well or how poorly your site is working for your visitors. One way to determine this is to find out how long on average your visitors spend on your site. If the time spent is relatively brief, it usually indicates an underlying problem.......

...Information Architecture Design informs even the simplest structure, whether of brick and steel or prose. —E. B. White In the context of web site design, information architecture describes the overall conceptual models and general designs used to plan, structure, and assemble a site. Every web site has an information architecture, but information architecture techniques are particularly important to large, complex web sites, where the primary aims are to:  Organize the site content into taxonomies and hierarchies of information;  Communicate conceptual overviews and the overall site organization to the design team and clients;  Research and design the core site navigation concepts;  Set standards and specifications for the handling of HTML semantic markup, and the format and handling of text content; and  Design and implement search optimization standards and strategies. Information architecture encompasses a broad range of design and planning disciplines, and the boundaries among information architecture, technical design, user interface, and graphic design are necessarily blurred by the need for all of these communities of practice to cooperate to produce a cohesive, coherent, and consistent experience for the site user. Architecture is an appropriate metaphor for the assembling of complex multidimensional information spaces shared by many different users and readers, where the underlying structure of information must first......

Website Migration Project

...Web architecture refers to the structure or the organization of a website. It involves the description of the ways in which different pages relate to each other and also ensures that the information is organized in a predictable and consistent way in every page. In order to build the web architecture, the system analyst should into the company’s business needs, and come up with a clear statement of the goals. As there is an already existing old site running, it is crucial that the analyst understands the business and its technological issues involving the implementation of the project. Since we have an already running Tony’s chips website, it is important to gather the existing functional requirements of the website. The system analyst can get information from the employees of the old company; gather system documentation, production support and also using Fact finding techniques. On gathering this information the system analyst should make a decision on whether to go for a packed solution or develop the software in-house. If we decide to go for in-house development of the website, I recommend that we use; Apache as the web server, JEE as the language to develop the website, Linux as the Operating System and MYSQL for the database of the website. Since MYSQL, Apache and Linux are all open sources the company needs not to worry about their licenses and also by writing the software in Java helps us to deploy the code on any platform and the fact that it is not difficult to......
