Website Publishing Process

There are many ways to build a website, and many ways to publish a website. One way to build a website is by a site that basically writes the code for you and allows you to choose the colors, designs, picture placement etc., and then you post it on the building site right then and the site gives you the domain name. But publishing a site after writing the HTML code for your site, and creating your site from scratch is different, and requires the web designer to do his homework and gives you many more options. You have the option to register your own domain name and use that name when you register with a web host and upload your file with all your web pages. You also need to look at all the web hosting options, which vary by what you want to have as a web host. There are many free web hosting sites to choose from, which can be a good starting and learning choice for a new web designer, just to get the feel and learn how to upload and manage a website on a web host server. These free servers normally only offer you a limited amount of space and options and domain names, and usually require your website to have an add for their web hosting site, or adds from their sponsors. Other websites can vary in price from an average of $1.99 a month to $19.99 per month, depending on what options you want like amount of size you can use for your website, how many domain names you can use on your web host server. Once you choose your web host and upload your website, it is also a good idea to register your domain names with as many search engines as possible, along with monitoring the traffic on your website, like which search engines are bringing the most traffic and which keywords they are using in their description so you can constantly modify your website to get the most traffic and visitors as possible.
Once you have completed making and designing your website, it is only located on your hard drive, which no one else can see or visit, so now at this time you must upload your website to a web host server by the following: 1. You must do your research and decide what options you want for your website, along with how much money you are willing to spend per month or per year for your website, then choose the web hosting server site you would like to use. 2. You must now log into the chosen website and register with this website and enter all your information in, pay your fee, and get a username and password. Once you do this, you will get an email verifying your registration, along with a link to finish verification and then allowing you to login to the web host server. 3. At this point, you have two ways to upload your website files onto your new website host. You can either use file manager utility provided by your web hosting company, or FTP (File Transfer Protocol), which is special software that you need to download onto your computer, which is an Internet Protocol used to upload and maintain files on your website (“Web Developers Notes”, 2013). 4. If you use the supplied file manager utility provided by your web hosting company, you must click on it’s icon, which will open up a window displaying directories on your web hosting site if any. To upload files, you need to click on upload files, which should open a window to be able to select files from your hard drive to upload onto your web hosting server. You must upload all files to the document root directory, which should be your index.html document. If uploading a complete new website, it needs to be put on the server exactly how you have it on your hard drive, with all the images, pages, etc., inside the root index.html folder. You can also open up all your folders and directories now installed on the sever and delete, rename, change, etc., just like if you were doing on your own hard drive. 5. If you choose to use a FTP, you need to find one, which you would like to use and download the software onto your computer. A few options would be Cyberduck for Mac, or WinSCP for a Windows based computers. An FTP client is a program that allows you to easily move files from one computer to another (Roeder, 2013). Once you have registered with a web host, open the FTP client software you downloaded and fill out the required info like profile name (name you want to give your web site), Host name and URL address of your host server, ex. (ftp.hostname.com), user id and password, then click ok. Now you will be connected to your web host server and be able to transfer files by choosing files to transfer, or even dragging and dropping from your computer to the web host server. With FTP you can also view, rename, delete, and move your files around. You can also create new files to put your website folder and files in. 6. Now that you have uploaded your website, you can log out of both your web hosting server and/or close out your FTP client and open a web browser and go to your new web site URL to verify all your pages, files, and pictures comes up fine in your browser. It is very important to now open your website. If not, you can log into your web server directly and adjust, or use your FTP client to connect to your server as stated above and adjust. Two web hosting servers that I would consider if I was uploading a new website now would be HostGator and WEB.com. I feel the most important things to consider when choosing a web-hosting server is the price, bandwidth and disk space, upload and page load time, and ease of use. It is always good to read reviews of users of the websites you are considering using. HostGator is a new web-hosting provider, which is simple to use for both experienced web builders and novices. HostGator offers 3 different plans, a hatchling plan for $8.95 per month, which is for only 1 domain name and unlimited bandwidth and space. They also offer a baby plan and business plan, which offers unlimited domain names and unlimited bandwidth and disk space. The baby plan is $9.95 per month while the business plan is $14.95 per month and includes a dedicated IP address and private SSL. WEB.com is a much more simpler site, and offers a good introductory first month rate of $.99, but after this rate it jumps up to $19.95 per month. This website is good for someone looking to build their own website on the site, since it makes it very simple. WEB.com offers unlimited domains, but only 300 GB disk space and 500 MB of database space. One downfall of this web host is it does not offer any chat support if needed. If I were looking to build my own site now and upload it, I would not use a site like WEB.com, because the best thing about this site is for the novice who does not know how to write code to build his or her own site and publish it. Also, I would look past the introductory rate and not want to pay $19.95 per month for a site. I would contact my internet provider to see what options I have for a free web hosting link, if not I would consider using GatorHost as my web host because the price is good and the site is easy to navigate around, and with the medium price I get unlimited everything including domain names and bandwidth and space.

Website Publishing Process

...Website Publishing Process IT/237 Website Publishing Process There are many steps to take before publishing a site on the Internet. Many hosting services offer on-site design tools to aid in the creation of the site. These tools can make web design much easier for someone who has no HTML, CSS or, Java experience. One example of a web hosting service can be found at http://www.ipage.com/ipage/index.html. With this particular hosting service is not completely necessary to have completed on your own using software such as Dreamweaver or other related programs. The service has built in software that enables a customer to create a site suitable to their needs. A good knowledge of HTML and CSS construction will be a highly beneficial skill to possess when using a service as such. The first step of publishing a new website through a website hosting company is to determine the purpose and the layout you wish for your website. Once a general layout of a site is determined one can start searching for a web host. Determining the layout, purpose, and overview has been completed the user should have a general idea of how much space and bandwidth will be needed for the site to run properly. This is a major factor in determining a web host service. If a site is expected to grow as time goes on and business continues, it would be prudent to choose a hosting service that has adequate space for the site’s needs. If the site proposed has downloadable content...

Why New Authors Should Self-Publish By Kelly James-Egner

According to author Kelly James-Egner, who has published four books herself and eight traditionally, traditional publishers theoretically help with marketing, but in actuality, only “big-name authors like Patricia Cornwell” (40) receive...

...Few of such barriers are Lack of trust, language & culture and infrastructural issues. A joint effort is required to put in place a proper process by which these issues can be addressed so that the effects are minimal. Lack of trust (Werthner, 2001) It is very important for the businesses to establish trust with their customers but the online businesses which exist through online websites have anonymity and it is hard to establish then said. The existence of business through website and lack of physical presence at a place is a factor which affects a person’s trust in a company. The issue of anonymity can be explained by an example that no one can know only through a website that how established a bank is only through their website and unless and until one trusts a bank they will not become a customer with the bank. Therefore, companies really need to have a plan to how they can make their customers trust a business. Also, when designing a website it is very important that we address all the needs of the customers in a good manner so that they do not get an impression that this company does not provide the services which the customer are looking for. In E-Commerce, the websites should be designed in a very user friendly manner so that the customer can get a feeling that all their needs can be fulfilled by this business. Websites should be easy to browse as they are the primary source of contact with the customers and should give them an easy to do business feeling with...

Web Site Publication Process

...Web Site Publishing Process Mario Padilla IT/237 September 3, 2011 University of Phoenix/Axia College Web Site Publishing Process Today there are many ways to publish your website, which should be evaluated according to what you want to communicate on the Internet. What we published is one of the first questions to be asked. We want to publish a personal website, professional, a blog, audio or otherwise. This election will define our initial publication, which is why we must be very sure and plan as much as possible. The type of site we post will play a main objective which we must be clearly delineated before doing anything. Then how the public. This takes into account the resources and knowledge which we have or could have. The primary budget will define what kind of publication can take shape. If we do not have sufficient funding to pay for a hosting, a domain, we have sufficient training or to edit our pages the best choice is to use a wizard to publish a free hosting service or sponsored. The choice of site hosting quite fit with final scope of our project. If your site has dynamic pages need to have databases, but any host that suits us in terms of speed, stability and service is adequate. We must also consider other issues such as how many e-mail allows us to hold that share file transfer and offers support when implementing forms and other services such as domain aliases, sub domains, statistics, etc.. This is an example...
