Explain why it is both necessary and helpful to study the context of prior history, especially the experiences of participants in that history, in order to understand what is valued by these participants. Also, what resources will be most helpful to you as a student of history?

It’s is helpful to study prior history and the participants in that history, so you have a better underrating on what they were going through. You couldn’t explain something to someone, especially history by stating what only happened. I would be difficult to fully grasp why the actions were done in such ways. Examining the history of different participants’ experiences gives a much clearer picture of their viewpoint, feelings, and opinions during a certain time period.
Not long ago in America, the African-American Civil Rights Movement encompasses social movements whose goal was to end racial segregation and discrimination against black Americans and enforce constitutional voting rights to them. Now what went on shortly before that, we were at war yet again. During that time we were at war with Vietnam. I recall reading from that black Americans were on the front line during the Vietnam War. They felt as if they were dogs, didn’t have rights and no one wanted to be next to them.
If you were to view this just from this standpoint I am sure you would have many unanswered questions. But this is the reason you need to view history prior to the event. Imagine not knowing anything about history. Imagine there is no documentation of any historic event or person. It would be impossible to learn from past mistakes. We would know nothing of those who came before us and all of their struggles and successes. We need to study history so we may make informed decisions on very important current events and issues, just look at what we have learned in this past week. France underestimated Vietnam, and so did America, you would think they we would have learned from another countries mistake before going to war for 15 years.
If you think what would have happened if America was never discovered by Columbus? I find that statement odd in itself, how can someone discover something where people already live? But imagine if they didn’t come to the new world, there was no American revolution. What would this place look like today? This is why history is important; one belief is that you are the past. If you think of yourself, if someone says explain who you are, you can’t make up things that didn’t happen yet.
The main resource for me and probably many others is the internet. The world is literally at your fingertips. Granted there are many websites out there that can have false information but it is best to use reputable web pages.
We all know that Wikipedia isn’t one of those webpages since anyone can edit the information. Many times we are tempted to use this page for our information since it is the go to site for nearly everything, but it is best to stay away.
Another resource I like to use is documentaries they give you someone’s viewpoint on a situation. I like viewing a few different documentaries on the same topic in order for me to get a full spectrum. I like to keep an open mind on things and I don’t want to be flooded with someone else’s opinion.
Lastly you can use old fashion books, or articles. They will take time to find and take longer to gather all the information you need. When I lived in Vegas we had a library right down the road from my house, it wasn’t that great but in a pinch it had what I needed. Luckily for me I live one block away from a community college and I am allowed to use their library.
I would like to conclude by stating if you don’t know where you came from you will not know where to go. Maybe this is why the world is the way it is now. People forgot to look back on our past, are we to stubborn to even think about what we are doing wrong. Look at the presidential debate from twenty years ago, then watch the one from 2012, same issues different people. We need to educate ourselves on the past in order for us to finally move forward.

...Currently, I approach weekly course reading material in a fairly unconventional way. My weekdays are usually incredibly hectic between my job of working with my clients and my day to day personal life with my children, so finding any quality reading time is hard during the day time hours. I generally have all reading material downloaded to my laptop in advance as we all should so I can get in a bit of reading time during my break time and my clients nap time. The problem with this is, even though it is quiet and my break time, there is still quite a bit of activity going on around me having to deal with small odds and ends, breaking any concentration I have and understanding of the text. I do get a small amount of time in peace when I get home and right before the kids get home after school in which I use to get in some reading and study time. This time is definitely quality time as my concentration is at its greatest and I can get something done. The night hours, usually after dinner, is where things have been really difficult as this is the time where the bulk of my study and reading time is. Thankfully my fiancée has begun to rectify this problem for me (when he is home from work himself) by keeping the kids busy with various things and away from me during this time so I can actually get quite a bit done in peace and...

In addition to setting meetings, the most successful teams also set a deadline for drafts to be turned into the project leader each week. ...Week One – DQ 1, What is the definition of marketing? What are the benefits and drawbacks of incorporating marketing into the sales function of an organization? Do you think that marketing should be included as part of the sales organization within a company? Explain why or why not.  Marketing is the foundation, direction, and/or functions an entity uses to produce a product, service, or idea and makes certain that the product, service, or idea they produce reaches consumers. There are a couple benefits and drawbacks to incorporating marketing into the sales function of an organization. The benefits of incorporating marketing into the sales function of an organization is the marketing function can decrease operating expense defining the consumer’s needs and wants which will decrease the cost. The drawbacks of incorporating marketing into the sales function of an organization deals with micro marketing and macro marketing. Being socially responsible and ethical to both, consumers and non consumers, may increase sales costs, due to production costs, and decrease sales profits (Perreault, Cannon, McCarthy, 2011). I do feel that marketing should be included as part of the sales organization within the company because services that the company provides in a marketing sales aspect can apply the analysis so that the consumers needs and wants can be analyzed. ...Terrell Franklin Grantham University GS102 Week 1 02/03/2014 Properties Of Life The Properties Of Life The definition of life from what I learned is, that a living organism on Earth is an entity containing protein and/or nucleic acid, that imposes its form and function on another entity inorder to convert that entity into its own form and function, and does so in order to persist and reproduce itself. In this paper I will discuss the nine properties and how things like a virus, prion, and viroid can reproduce, but are not considered to be alive. Also how things like these that are not considered to be alive can “evolve”? Viruses reproduce via bacterial gene transfer. Prions are proteins so they replicate with the rest of the genome. Viroids are small RNA plant pathogens that do not code any protein products, therefore replicate by stealing what is needed from the host. However, it may be important to keep in mind that there is a great deal of discussion about whether viruses should be defined as live or not. They contain some of the structures and exhibit some of the activities that are common to the definition of organic life, but are missing others. Unlike viroids and prions, they contain both RNA and DNA. Scientifically they are classified in a place between supra molecular complexes and extremely simple biological entities. Viruses are composed of a single strand of genetic information encapsulated in protein. One of the most compelling arguments against viruses...

...Week 1 Individual Assignment MKT Week 1 Individual Assignment The Meaning of Marketing The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines marketing as the process or technique of promoting, selling, and distributing a product or service (Merriam Webster, 2013). Merriam Webster further defines marketing as an aggregate of functions involved in moving goods from producer to consumer (Merriam Webster, 2013). Business Dictionary defines marketing as the management process through which goods and services move from concept to the customer. It includes the coordination of four elements called the 4 P's of marketing: Product, Price, Placement, and Promotional Strategy (Business Dictionary, 2013). I believe that marketing is as it has been described by both Merriam Webster and Business Dictionary. The purpose of marketing is to get a product or service from the producer of the product or service to the consumer who will use the product or service. I believe that the four P’s are fundamental in getting the product or service from the producer to the consumer. Marketing is extremely important to the success of any organization.
