#### Week 7 Checkpoint 7 Internet Privacy

...Internet Privacy William A. Black XBIS/219 Week 7 Checkpoint 7 Prof. John Brooks Explain how your expectations for Internet privacy differ for the following situations: Accessing the web at home, at work, and in a public setting, such as a library computer lab or Wi–Fi zone. What is the basis for your expectations? Is it legal to use your neighbors’ wireless Internet signal? Is it ethical? Explain your reasoning.   In our lives we are subject to privacy invasion through the electronic retrieval of our personal information which may be duplicated and misused. At home, I find that I carry the expectation that my own personal information is safeguarded. This is because I take steps when I am working on my own system to ensure my privacy by securing my information with my own anti-virus software and through the use of passwords and ids for access. I find that at work I should be able to carry these same expectations; since the company should be using particular caution to safeguard employee information. The web should not be accessed during work for any purpose outside of work requirements. This is often not true. Your information is constantly at risk in both environments due to hacking and information abuse. There are settings that put you at risk more than others. These include the local library and any Wi-Fi zone. These give greater access......

...Week 7 Checkpoint: Ratio, Vertical, and Horizontal Analyses XXXXXXXXXX XACC/280 June 28, 2014 Zenos Gavales A financial statement analysis is the process of review financial statements that can include balance sheets and profit or loss statements. The three tools of financial statement analysis are ratio analysis, horizontal analysis and vertical analysis. With ratio analysis we can analyze data and determine the overall financial strength of a company. Horizontal analysis is a procedure in which an analyst compares ratios or line items in business financial statements over a period of time. Vertical analysis most common use is with financial statements for a single time period. Vertical analysis compares between two or more companies in the same industry. PepsiCo, Inc. ...If I were an accountant two business sectors that I would be interested in would be in management accounting or forensic accounting. Management accounting is being available to management within companies to provide them with information that will overall help them manage and control the business more efficiently. Business recovery is helping businesses in financial distress to recover financially. While I am not interested in the accounting field, these were two sections that really caught my eye. I currently run three Subway stores as a General Manager, so the management accounting is a sector that I know from experience would be very helpful to a business. Personal experience is what would peak my interest into this field. Forensic accounting is investigative accounting or auditing that is suitable for a court of law. Law has always been a big interest for me. I think that auditing and investigation would be a very interesting and fulfilling job. The company that I chose and researched was Feely and Driscoll. This is a company that provides forensic accounting and auditing services. I imagine that working for this company would be very interesting. I imagine that as a CPA I would be handed files and company information that I would have to audit to look for fraud or other issues. There may also be cases of profit analysis. Once the investigations are complete, I imagine that compiling the information suitable for court would be very tedious and time consuming. However,......

...Ratio, Vertical, and Horizontal Analysis Check Point Brandy McDonald Principles of Accounting February 24, 2012 Vaunda Davis Ratio, Vertical, and Horizontal Analysis Check Point The three vital tools of financial statements are the ratio, vertical, and horizontal analysis. Each financial statement examines the data within monetary statements of businesses or organizations. Being able to determine the financial stability of a company is important in addressing any areas of weakness or aide in the decision making processes. Ratio analysis is associated with evaluating the liquidity, profitability, and solvency of a corporation to judge performance scenarios. Vertical analysis gauges entries for assets, liabilities, and equities in a balance sheet to compare the proportions of the total account. It enables any size of a business the opportunity to easily compare relative annual changes. Horizontal analysis allows companies to compare performance ratios over a certain period of time, usually one year’s worth of entries. It is also referred to as trend analysis and offers insight into the overall success of a company in order to make sound investments. These types of ratios are able to be used on any item of finance from revenues to earnings within a company. PepsiCo, Inc. The Current Ratio for 2005 is Current Assets 10,454/ Current Liabilities 9,406 which equals 1.11%. The Current Ratio for 2004 is Current Assets 8,639/ Current Liabilities 6,752 which equals......

...What different persuasive approaches would you use with the following audiences: a manager, a peer, a challenging person, and an open-minded person? Why would your approach differ with each? The art of persuasion is not simply forcing someone else to see a point of view, do things a different way, or force someone to believe in a specific something. Persuasion is getting a person to do something out of their own free will, by making it enticing or appealing to them. In order to that, it’s crucial to know who the person is, or particularly what they want in order to persuade them that they want to see things from your view, or do them your way. When talking to a manager, persuading them may be along the lines of combining your desires with their job. If a manager’s job is to run a McDonald’s with low food and labor cost, and my goal is to leave early, an affective tactic may be explaining that there are too many people working for the volume of sales coming in, and that they would cut costs by sending me home, but also in a respectful way as they are still in charge. When talking to a peer often we know what their goal or job is, because it’s often the same as mine. So to persuade them maybe say something that would work on myself if they said it to me. To a challenging person persuasion may be much harder, because they will challenge anything I say simply to be challenging. Reverse physiology may be an effective tactic if they are determined to simply be challenging......

...Checkpoint: Ratio, Vertical, and Horizontal Analysis The current ratio shows the percentage of liabilities there is compared to the assets. It is the total current assets divided by the total current liabilities. The vertical analysis is the current assets divided by the total assets for that year. The result is shown in percentage. The horizontal analysis is the change in assets. The current assets of one year divided by another year will show the increase or decrease in assets for those years. The same thing applies to the liabilities. Each year’s current liabilities will be identified. The most recent year will be divided by the previous year. The result will show the increase or decrease in liabilities by percentage. PepsiCo, Incorporated Current ratio 2005: Current ratio 2004: Current assets = 10454 = 1.11% Current assets = 8639 = 1.28% Current liabilities 9406 Current liabilities 6752 Vertical Analysis 2005 Vertical Analysis 2004 Current assets = 10454 = 33% Current assets = 8639 = 31% Total assets 31727 Total assets 27987 Horizontal Analysis Total assets 2005 = 31727-27987= 3740 = 0.1336 = 13.4% Total assets 2004 27987 Total liabilities 2005 = 17476-14464 = 3012 = 0.2082 = 20.8% Total liabilities 2004 ......

...Ratio, Vertical, and Horizontal Analysis CheckPoint Stacy J. McKinney XACC/280 August 10, 2012 Benjamin Strickland Ratio, Vertical, and Horizontal Analysis CheckPoint The three tools used in Financial Statement analysis include: Horizontal analysis, Vertical analysis, and Ratio analysis. While both Horizontal and Vertical analysis can be used on any of the four types of financial statements, ratio analysis compares various aspects within the different statements. Horizontal analysis, or as it is sometimes referred to, trend analysis, is used to analyze financial data over a period of time. This analysis provides a picture of increases or decreases. To do this percentages are calculated by dividing current amounts by base year amounts. Next, vertical, or common-size analysis takes each item in financial statements expressed as a percentage of a base amount. Balance Sheets use Total Assets; Net Sales are used in Income Statements. This type of analysis is helpful in showing changes in assets, liabilities, equity, revenue, and expenses over the course of two or more years. It should be noted that these type of analysis can be used both to analyze internal data and compare competing businesses. Ratio analysis evaluates relationships between various financial statement items. These relationships focus on three aspects of business: liquidity, profitability, and solvency. Liquidity relates to short-term debts, profitability to operation efficiency, and solvency to......
