1. What are the issues in this meeting? I think that there was not really any issues in the video. Compare and Contrast Three Forms of Malware

...Abstract Three forms of malware that originally had legitimate applications, but have over time been developed as malicious software are taken into account: ActiveX control, Telnet, and NetBIOS. They are explained first, then the risks user can face if his computer is infected with that malware are given, and the countermeasures which should be taken in order to combat the malware. After that, the compare and contrast of the three forms of malware mentioned above is given. In the end, two recent forms of malware, Flame and FinFisher are explained. ActiveX control What is an ActiveX control? ActiveX is a software component of Microsoft Windows. It is already installed in a computer with Internet Explorer. ActiveX controls are small programs, sometimes called add-ons that are used on the Internet. They can enhance browsing experience by allowing animation or they can help with tasks such as installing security updates at Microsoft Update. Some websites require installing ActiveX controls to see the site or perform certain tasks on it. When these websites are being visited, Internet Explorer asks to install the ActiveX control. The website that provides the ActiveX control should tell the visitor what the control is for. It should also provide relevant details on the web page before or after the warning. Internet Explorer blocks websites from using an ActiveX control if the website tries to use the ActiveX control in a way that might not be safe. What are the......

The Three Forms of Probation

...Intensive probation supervision or intensive probation program is a highly structured program that is similar to house arrest where the defendant has to comply with the strict terms of their probation. The standard probation is more lenient with the reporting schedule, usually once a month, and the defendant is not required to stay home. It was established in Cook County, Illinois in 1984 for violent or high-risk criminals(What Is Intensive Supervision, Elizabeth (Lisa) Thompson). It has been implemented in some form in about 40 states and includes about 100,000 offenders. The program involves small caseloads of 15 to 40 defendants that are kept under close watch by the probation officers (p. 472). The IPS program has three primary goals: Decarceration is when the offender would usually be sent to an overcrowded jail or prison without intensive supervision. Control is where the offender can maintained in a community under much closer security than traditional probation efforts provide. Reintegration is where the offender can maintain community ties and be reoriented toward a more productive life, while avoiding the pains of being in prison (p.472). It has been indicated that IPS has been ineffective in as much of 50% of cases it handles. IPS clients have a higher rate of being arrested than other offenders that are on probation. Joan Petersilia found that despite the good intentions of IPS, most of the money spent that was spent, was used for drug tests,......

...Please post a 200-300-word response to the following discussion question by clicking on Reply. What is crime? What are the components of the criminal justice system? How does crime relate to the law? What changes would you recommend to better improve the criminal justice process? Crime is any act or omission (i.e. something intentionally or unintentionally left out), which violates established laws of the local, state, or federal governments (Schmalleger, 2011, p. 7). What does this mean? It means that if there is a law governing a particular act and an individual commits the act in violation of the established law, they are committing a crime. For example, if there is a local ordinance (law) banning smoking of any kind of tobacco or tobacco product within 25 feet of a business or government building and you find yourself smoking a cigarette within 10 feet of one of these specified locations (act), you are in violation of the law and in effect committing a crime. The components of the criminal justice system consist of law enforcement, courts and corrections (Schmalleger, 2011, p. 14). In all of the components of the criminal justice system, you will find various agencies, titles, and roles specific to ensuring the administration of justice. These systems of processes are designed to protect the innocent and ensure fairness (due process) of the law is adhered to before, during, and after arrest (Schmalleger, 2011, p. 14). Crime in a sense is an act or omission, which......

Week Three Reflection Summary

...Week Three Reflection Summary Anna Delarosa RES 351 February 3, 2014 Dr. Joseph Oloyede Week Three Reflection Summary Within our third week, the team was tasked with the objective to differentiate between qualitative and quantitative methods of research. Next, the team was asked to explain the commonly used qualitative research designs and quantitative research designs. Finally the team was the asked to identify how to select appropriate research designs in any given situation. Quantitative research attempts to achieve precise measurement of something; often the responses received are veiled, classified, and condensed to numbers to be manipulated for statistical analysis (Cooper & Schindler, 2011, p. 164). The insights gained from completing this research is limited by the opportunity to probe respondents, and the quality of the original data collection instrument. Additionally, this will follow data collection and data entry, with a small window of opportunity to circle back with survey participants. In contrast, qualitative research is intended to tell the examiner how and why things happen as they do, it also aims to achieve a thorough understanding of a situation. The expected result or insights with this method provide a more profound level of understanding; which is determined by the type and amount of open-ended questions. Using qualitative research allows the researcher to inform insights and test them throughout the study process. ......

Discussion Post- What Is Your Phobia

...Upon initially reading the instructions for this post, I thought I was going to have an incredibly hard time writing it, seeing as I do not believe myself to have a phobia. When I hear the word phobia, I think of someone who absolutely cannot handle being in a specific situation, suffering from increased heart rate, hyperventilating, mental/emotional breakdowns, and even passing out as a result of being overwhelmed by the entire situation. I looked up the definition of “phobia”, according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary a phobia is an extremely strong dislike or fear of someone or something. I considered what my fears are and had troubled. I cliff jump and love heights, I don’t like bugs but they don’t scare me, and the dark can creep me out but usually only after a scary movie. Then I realized I am afraid of not making my dreams a reality. I am afraid of failure. I typed in fear of failure and according to a few different websites, including phobialist.com, fear of failure is a real phobia called Atychiphobia. I read that A person afflicted with atychiphobia considers the possibility of failure so intense that they choose not to take the risk. Often this person will subconsciously undermine their own efforts so that they no longer have to continue to try. I was doing this! This is a good assignment for me, because it has forced me to get out of my own way and focus on school. I have had a rough start for the past month or so, but now I am fully dedicating myself to my......

Week Three Paper

...Week 3 Assignment 1 Strayer University Managing Organizational Change HRM560 October 23, 2013 Week 3 Assignment 1 1. Using Kotter’s model, identify the three (3) most significant errors made out of all of the change stories presented and describe the ramifications of those mistakes. a) The first significant effort I’d like to discuss is Kodak’s evolution into the digital technology era. I believe the Kotter’s error that relates to them most is, “failing to create short-term wins”. While Kodak felt as if they were making the correct decision, a big goal, coupled with limited planning is a recipe for disaster. Also, by not implementing a series of short-terms wins the staff and investors were both left to wonder what is considered success. If those benchmarks had been set the concern from both of the aforementioned parties could have been ceased or negated altogether. b) The second significant error was made by McDonalds. I believe the Kotter’s error that applies to their scenario is, “Allowing too much complacency”. As an established and well known brand, it is easy for industry leaders such as McDonalds to get complacent. As times change so does the customer. Today’s society is more cognizant of health risk, and now more than ever it is trendy to diet and exercise. As a leading fast-food chain McDonalds should have been ahead of the trend by ways of their research and development. Their complacency resulted in lawsuits and a identify crises that...

If the compassable factors does not align with organization strategy most likely it will not achieves its goal, they will hire employees that does not much with the jobs hired for which eventually becomes costly to the organization. You may also view the article at http://www.financepractitioner.com/contentFiles/QF02/g26fs3i7/16/0/the-missing-metrics-managing-the-cost-of-complexity.pdf. Next, in a globalized economy with many business complexities, speculate the major ways that these complexities might impact a business and suggest two (2) actions that a business can take in order to minimize these consequences. * From the previous discussion, recommend one (1) approach that an accountant could take in order to measure the types of complexity you identified for a specific business or industry and determine the insight that the measure will provide in relation to business performance. Part 1: There are several major ways that the complexities of a business in a globalized economy might impact that particular business. These complexities can add significant "hidden" costs within a company that generally cannot be seen through the production process, but often come up in the month, quarter, and year end statements. These added costs will generally arise within a company when they are trying to grow their revenue in an already mature market. An example of this is when a company wants to add a new product to sell and expand their share in a specific market. By creating a new product there are significant costs......

Walden University Discussion Board Post

...WK8DCRNURS6561N-2 Cynthia L Williams Walden University Direct Care Roles in Health Promotion & Disease Prevention Across the Life Span NURS-6561N-2 October 19, 2015 Community Needs In week 6, I discussed my community of Louisville, KY. In that discussion I focused on the obesity and tobacco use rates in the state of Kentucky. These health issues contribute to the mortality and morbidities in Kentucky. In the 2014 Louisville Metro Health Equity Health Report, 51.7% of individuals in Louisville were pre-diabetic or diabetic in 2011 according to the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), (Arno & Rock, 2014). Obesity and diabetes are correlated health statuses and are often referred to as “DIABESITY”, (A. Hollier, personal communication, October 21, 2015). The dietary lifestyles of adults and youth in Louisville combined with the lack of physical activity reflect in the overwhelming statistics of diabetes. Smoking complicates every disease process. As of 2014, 26.2 % of adults, 18 years old and over are currently smoking, (Center for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC.gov], 2014). These lifestyle choices, disease processes and practices increase the risk of developing heart disease and stroke, (Arno & Rock, 2014). Strategies for Implementation Effort to improve the health state of the community, seem monumental when every patient is suffering from diabetes, smoking, lack of physical activity, dyslipidemia or has had some type of...

Eamples of Nursing Discussion Posts

...Discussion 1 For this discussion, read the article "Oxygen Therapy in the Home" located in the module for Week 2. Considering the information in the article, address the following in your initial post by Wednesday July 20. * Your text describes several different roles the community health nurse can fill. Of the roles discussed in your text, what two roles would be the most important to fill and why? (in relation to the article) * Considering the core public health functions a community nurse fills, discuss how a community nurse can partner within the community to address issues related to the article. You must reply to one other post by Saturday July 23 at 2355. Post I: The two roles that would be most important for the nurse to fill in relation to this article would be the educator role and collaborator role. While this article discusses the loss suffered by Mr. Jones this is a scenario that it’s very common. If the nurse had fulfilled the role of an educator Mr. Jones would have known that he should neither smoke while he was hooked up to his oxygen nor while his oxygen was on in the room. In this circumstance Mr. Jones’ memory seemed a bit hazy at home the nurse could have provided a written list of information about oxygen therapy in the home so that Mr. Jones didn’t have to resort to assumption or verbal recall when making his decision. As a collaborator a nurse must work with many people outside of patients and physicians. Oxygen is a commonly......

Week Three Summary for Mgt 311

...Team E Learning Reflection Week Two MGT / 311 February 6, 2011 Team E Learning Reflection Week One In week three, Team E learned a variety of concepts surrounding organizational behavior. As a team we learned the three the different property groups that a manager may use to determine work groups. We have learned the different types of groups that may be formed that consist of two or more people. We also learned that while in a group conflict may be necessary to use. Finally, we have learned about group development and what is included within group development. When a manager begins the process of deciding to form groups to complete a goal or mission the manager needs to understand the mission or goal. By knowing the mission or goal the manager can then begin the process of determine how to form the group based on the group properties. The different types of group properties that a manager may use are norms, status, size, and cohesiveness to form a group. The norms of a group are usually unspoken rules that govern a group which need to be abided by. Status in a group usually gives guidance on who to follow and who to lead the group so there is no misunderstanding onto who is in charge of the group and who does what for the group. A manager must know how many employees to place in a particular group. The manager would not want to include too few employees to complete a goal that is unrealistic with the size of the group nor have too many employees in a group who may......

Week Three Discussion

...Week Three discussion questions 1. Project scheduling follows one of Parkinson’s laws: “Everything takes as long as it takes.” The topic for discussion is what are the elements and functions we must consider when developing the project schedule? In your experience what tools and techniques have you seen used effectively? As a contributor to inaccurate duration estimates is a situation known as Parkinson’s law. He further described “work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion”. This means that if we estimated an activity will take two weeks, it’ll end up taking two weeks even if it could have been finished in one. Tools and techniques that project managers can take to overcome Parkinson’s Law. Determine priorities, give more time to top priorities, use reliable estimating techniques, take frequent measurements on performance, and maintain visibility of those measurements. Ralph Kliem and Irwin Ludain, Tools and tips for Today’s Project Manager 2. What is your experience with sensitivity ("what if") analysis? While many organizations do not perform a formal analysis, most try at least to identify critical factors, and how the project will be affected if these change from the estimate. According to the PMBOK 4TH edition, a sensitivity analysis helps to determine which risk have the potential impact...

...remodeling industry weather can play a huge factor, and when deadliness need to be met, this can lead to a lot of stress on myself, as well as my team members. One particular instance was when we were working on a home, and it rained three days straight, we were scheduled to have the job completed that Friday, and the homeowner was planning an outdoor event on Sunday and need the job to be complete. This was a higher end customer, who would be having other homeowners, which potentially meant more business so long as we could pull it off. After the second day of rain, I called my team members in to the shop, and we came up with a plan. I assigned three members to go to the home and take measurements, of windows and doors, and other related measurements. They also loaded up whatever material we would require to precut as many pieces as we could. We spent the remainder of that day, as well as Wednesday precutting pieces. I than contacted the home owners of two other job sites, and explained the dilemma I was in, and requested permission to pull my crews off of their projects for two days, explaining that the following Monday I would have an additional crew out to assist with finishing their projects, luckily both homeowners agreed. Thursday morning I sent all three of my crews out, and recruited two additional people from our roofing crew to assist us. I than assigned everyone one side of the house, and we managed to finish the project by mid-day Friday as promised. We spent the......
