Successful Students

...Tips for Successful Students Throughout my whole life, I can always remember time management being a strong point, whether it be in school or work. The statement, “you will either control time or be controlled by it” (Lake, A. & von Baeyer, C. 2005) has always lingered in the back of my mind, as my parents would say this to me often when trying to balance life, school, and work. Having a strong sense of time management has given me the ability to balance whatever it is I am confronted with. Whether it be finding time to do school assignments while working full time and also continuing my busy life, or whether it be passing meds, doing dressing changes, placing a foley, and admitting a patient all within a busy hour, time management is essential. Not only does it allow for a less-stressful flow, it also allows me to accomplish my tasks in a timely fashion and feel organized and in-control of what I am doing. I feel having this characteristic as a strong point will help me in this course because not only do I work full-time at night, but I also- like most other students- have a busy life surrounding me as well. Being able to manage what is laid out in front of me will assist in me being a successful student, without neglecting work or my personal life. Procrastination isn’t in the equation for being successful, as leaving tasks for later can lead to mistakes or to be forgotten. Scheduling your time can only be done by you; Do it wisely. (Richie S. & Alspaugh, L. 2011). ...

Smart Objectives

...consider on developing several goals that will enable it to be successful. A goal might be to hold a weekly project meeting with the key members of a team and a continuous programme throughout the project. The acronym SMART has several slightly different variations, which can be used to provide a more comprehensive definition of goal setting. S stands for Specific/ Significant/ Stretching. M stands for Measurable/ Meaningful/ Motivational. A stands for Agreed upon/ Attainable/ Achievable/ Acceptable/ Action-Oriented. R stands for Realistic/ Revelent/ Reasonable/ Rewarding/ Results. T stands for Time/ Tangible/ Trackable. Specific answers the questions "what is to be done?" "How will you know it is done?" and describes the end product of the work to be done. The description is written in such a way that anyone reading the objective will most likely interpret it the same way. To make goals specific, they must tell a team exactly what is expected, why it is important, who is involved, where it is going to happen and which attributes are important. A specific goal will usually answer the five 'W' questions: * What: What do I want to accomplish? * Why: Specific reasons, purpose or benefits of accomplishing the goal. * Who: Who is involved? * Where: Identify a location. * Which: Identify requirements and constraints. Measurable answers the question "how will you know it meets expectations?" and defines the objective using assessable terms like quantity...

Business Environment - Apple Inc.

...Learning Team Weekly Reflection : Week Two Learning Team B Learning as a team we all had to answer questions about real world examples of ethical and unethical practices we either read about or encountered in our place of employment. As team members generally most spoke about how their employer was trying to seek new guidelines to provide a more ethical environment. Many spoke of online training, having to take tests, or even go away to learn the rules of the company. Some spoke of how they had weekly meetings with both the staff and surveys from both staff and patients to get feedback on the way things were being handled to make changes based off of these results. It seems we were all exposed to both ethical and unethical business practices today whether reading about it in the news or seeing it first hand on the job. In reflecting on this week our team seemed to really take an interest in collaboration. Some shared about how important it is just to have ongoing teamwork just to produce innovative, cost effective, and targeted products and services. As being part of Team B I can see how important this is going to be toward our success. People need to be respectful and let everyone know their ideas without feeling that everyone knows as much as they do. Some team members when asking them a question answer the question with a tone that sounded as if I should have already known that answer. Why would I ask it? This does not set up proper ways of treating one another...
