What are your dreams of the future? Now looking back at everything you have done what you would you like to change?

Getting clear about our dreams for the future helps us to crystallize our goals and prioritize the things that are really most important to us. It also helps to focus our attention and efforts on the things we can do to make our dreams a reality. And the evidence shows that it can make us happier as a result.
I would like to be happy forever in the future. Being happy is a state of mind and I wish to be in that state forever. It doesn’t matter what I do on the career front or on my personal front, but I want happiness to be associated throughout with me. This is because I have learnt that only if a person is happy is he able to make people around him happy. This is how happiness multiplies. My goal setting would be on the basis of doing the things I love. The things that give me happiness, no matter how small or petty they may look or sound.
Looking back at everything I have done, one thing I would like to change if I could is the time I have spent in my education and gaining degrees. This time spent could have been even more productive. Nevertheless, I wish to fill up the remaining life with happiness by having a healthy balance between my work-life. This is what makes a difference. Spending time with loved ones is something that has no price.
To sum it up, my dreams of the future are to have realistic and measurable goals whose ultimate result is happiness. Stress has done good to nobody and hence I seek to have a proper balance between work and life.…...

What Would You Do

...What Would You Do? Scenario 1- Della the Delinquent Cat Lady As the president of the board of directors of the cat shelter, I am faced with rather or not Ms. Della should remain as part of the staff at the cat shelter. There are several problems that have been brought to my attention and I feel that now is the time to figure out exactly what should be done regarding the matter. After, evaluating the situation and giving it a great deal of consideration, I have come up several solutions to the problem. One of the easier solutions would be to just let Della go. I have considered retraining Della as manager of the cat shelter, or having a sit down with Ms. Della and asking her how she thinks she is performing as manager. Also, I think that asking Ms. Della to step down as the manager and giving her a position that she can handle. Although, these may seem like the best solution to resolve the situation, I have to look at the pros and cons of any decision that I make. If I decide to let Della go, it might benefit the company in the sense that we can find someone that is really dedicated and committed to for fulfilling their position. On the hand, Della is already going through a tough time, and firing her will not only affect her, but affect her children as well whom she is trying to provide for. Retraining Della could really help her gain a better understanding as what is expected from her as a manger, and she could gain more knowledge that may help her excel as a......

What Would You Do

...watched video clips from ABC’s show “What would you do?” one of situations in the video was a woman with OCD with a condition of germ phobia. She had dropped her groceries on the floor and could not purchase them for she felt they were “dirty”. The cashier was playing a roll of a not so very understanding person. He kept implying that they were not dirty and that the food was fine, one customer in line tried to explain to that OCD is Obsession Compulsive Disorder and that once something isn’t right they mentally cannot handle it. In the second situation there was a man in a liquor store with his son purchasing alcohol for a party that his son was going to have. You could tell that the son was very uncomfortable with the whole thing and that the father was pressuring him. A bunch of people disagreed with the actions the father was taking. In the final scenario a woman was breast feeding her child that was at the age of four in a coffee shop. One of the actors was playing the role as a disgusted costumer in the coffee shop and was making a big scene asking the woman to do that elsewhere. A lot of customer didn’t seem to have an issue with the woman breast feeding her child in the open public. Critique: All the scenarios had good points to them, if I was the person in line at the grocery store I would have done the same thing that the woman had done while she was in line. Some people have no courtesy and are just plain rude. It would have been quite difficult for me to be......

You Are What You Buy

...When purchasing a product there is a number of factors that influence a consumers decision on what product or service they purchase. Two of these factors is the actual self-concept and ideal self-concept. The actual self-concept is defined as the individuals belief about himself, which includes the person’s attributes and how they evaluate themselves. The ideal self-concept is how you would like to see yourself. When consumers purchase products they are often purchasing the product to enhance how they feel about themselves as well as get closer to their ideal self. My most recent important purchase was a car in September. I purchased a 2012 GMC Terrain with some special features. The GMC is a mid size SUV that is known to have one of best gas mileage for its type. My choice of an SUV was mainly based on the fact that I like bigger cars because I travel a lot with large items (bowling balls) and I like to sit up higher in a car so I can see everything. Most of the time, SUV drivers are described as people who like to feel in control, which is a lot of the times what I like to do. I often take control of situations because that it is personality. The purchase of a newer also indicates that I want to have a sense of pride and a feeling of accomplishment because I purchased a brand new car. This explanation would be an example of how I tried to enhance my ideal self-concept of being someone who looks accomplished. I also chose the vehicle based on needs. My old car......

You Are What You Eat

...You Are What You Eat Linand Blanc Professor Pamella Robinson Principles of Sociology 7/30/2011   Abstract Some may think that carrots and brown rice are healthy eating habits here in the United States. However there are some places in the world including the US where toasted insects, roasted cat and dogs, and even raw monkey brains are a delicacy. Whether you yourself would eat these types of food or not, we know that humans have been consuming cats dogs and yes even monkeys for decades. But my question is why did they find the need to eat these types of meats? Were beef, chicken, fish and pork not enough? Or maybe we’re the ones who don’t know what delicacy eating really is. Maybe we shouldn’t have such a closed mind to eating cats and dogs. Maybe by the end of this week I will be one that becomes an Entomophily.   The Holy Bible goes into great details on what we can and cannot eat. The dietary laws prohibit eating pork, shrimp, and shellfish of any kind, most insects, scavenger birds, and various types of other animals. (Leviticus chapter 11) Although the Bible doesn’t say anything about the domestic animals such as cats and dogs but many religions consider the consumption of these animals to be taboo. In some parts of the word others have resorted to eating felines and k-9’s in desperation during hard times and poverty, and others believe that eating them will bring good luck or good health. Cats and Dogs In North China eating cats is......

You Reap What You Flush

...Does anyone ever think about what they’ve flushed down their toilet or rinsed down the sink? While looking at many of the current articles related to environmental health, I’ve learned that we, as a whole, are ruining our water supplies for the future. We have continuously flushed whatever we don’t want to deal with into our sewer systems. The toxins, mostly from cleaning supplies and body treatment products are being reintroduced into our water sources. The waste water treatment facilities are efficient in removing the organic waste from the water supply, but they are not active in removing chemicals, and nutrients from the water table. I would like to discuss a few things that everyone should know about our waste water treatment facilities and what we can do to protect ourselves from being poisoned by our tap water. First, I would like to go over a few of the intricacies of our wastewater facility in Chillicothe. Second, I am going to discuss the chemicals, nutrients, and hormones that are occurring in our supply water due to the lack of regulations and filtration of our wastewater facilities. Third, I am going to discuss a few ideas that may aid the problem. Let me begin by first describing the waste water treatment process in our Chillicothe area. The Easterly Chillicothe Waste Water Treatment Facility is the subject of my studies because it affects most of us here today. Waste water is drained into the sewer by everyone living in the eastern side of the city....

...the world and tell them what they should physically look like to be deemed as beautiful in society. One may not believe that the media is up to such a terrible act, but subconsciously women believe what the media portrays as beautiful. Today’s pop culture demonstrates the impact of self-image and the effect it has on society and the way the society should look. Ads and pop culture enforce a negative outlook on the body image, which affects young women throughout the society. There are many aspects of today’s society that effect women within this pop culture and the way they have started to look at their bodies and see themselves as below average because they are not measuring up to the standards of society. In all reality, media and advertisement must know the effects it has on the young women and their body image in the world, but choose to ignore the fact because of the success that has sky rocketed in the past years. Not many people can ignore the media and find themselves beautiful no matter what features they have, but the ones who do such things are confident and strong while growing up in this tough and harsh world. Ads within television, magazines, newspapers, etc. all have some direct correlation to the media having an effect on the body image of young teens. These ads show beautiful models with long skinny legs, blonde hair, and blue eyes laying on the sand of a tropical island in front of an extraordinary horizon. Although an average person would find this......

What Would You Like to Ask?

...part of nature object’s and without the Sun the world would immerse into darkness as a result of which the earth will be a deserted PLACE. Moreover without the heat of the sun, the crops would fail to grow and human beings will stave endlessly. Lanier has beautifully explained why and how the Sun is significant in THE LIVES of all the individuals. People should be grateful to sunlight and should also thank the sun for giving so much comfort to all without asking. Life on earth is only possible because of the Sun. The poet has COMPARED the Sun to a pilgrim who is only INTERESTED IN reaching its pilgrimage. Similarly the sun is also a pilgrim who has nowhere else to go and thus moves round and round the earth. The Earth is thus compared to the pilgrimage. The sun is actually the best pilgrim according to the poet because a pilgrim visits the pilgrimage once a year whereas the sun is so dedicated to its pilgrimage that all it does is revolving around it. The divinity of the sun is thus portrayed beautifully in the poem. The Sun is explained as a symbol of joy and hope, a symbol of strength, a symbol of courage, and a symbol of awakening. The sun is a symbol of success and the people should also learn the art of giving from the sun. The Sun without ANY QUESTION and without asking anything in return gives heat to one and all. We all should also learn the art of giving from the Sun without expecting anything in return. What is more is that the Sun never fails to COMPLETE its......

What is sodium tripolyphosphate? Can you pronounce it? Think about it, do you really know what you are feeding your children every day? Unfortunately, most of us do not. We all want to feed our families wholesome, nutritious meals, but in today’s busy world it seems almost impossible. Our grocery stores shelves are filled with food that is full of chemicals, pesticides, and refined sugars, but do not have much nutritional value. As a society we have got to start making smarter food choices. Obesity and diabetes have become an epidemic in this country due to the lack of proper nutrition. As working mothers, we have to get food on the table fast. Often, we have very little money to do it with so we buy what we can afford. This often means we end up feeding our family packaged and processed foods. Our children and our families are seeing the consequences of this in their health and weight. We need to stop thinking that it is too hard and too expensive to eat well, and get creative and persistent with teaching our children health eating habits while they are young. One half of school age children who are currently obese will still be obese when they become adults. (Serdula M. K.) Today, one out of every three Americans is considered to be obese. You Are What You Think

...You are what you think The truth about life is the truth about ourselves. If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the results of a hundred battles. In life, we go through many battles, not necessarily the real ones, but the battles with our own problems and others around us. Here we will see a little how to have strength, know ourselves better and then apply the knowledge to life. It is really important to know ourselves, to know how we will react to the challenges we face, and to have a good image of ourselves, since we are what we think. First, it is important that we have a good example to look up to and learn with. We will talk about heroes as they are a good example. A hero is a person who does something special, or out of the ordinary in order to help others. It could also be someone who is admired for a characteristic about them, be it physical or mental. They are individuals that normal everyday people can look up to. This being the case, a superhero is nothing more than someone who helps many people. We have always looked up to our heroes. Some of us become heroes and that is thanks to the strength we take from them. They are great examples for kids and grownups. The humanity should keep taking the good things heroes have to share with us, and apply them in our lives. Second, “Having control of yourself”, is very important. Then we know how to control ourselves, our fears, and our excitement. We shouldn’t be blocked from doing something...

What Would You Change in Your Country?

...Have you ever dreamt about the improvement of life in your country? Undoubtedly, our appetites are unlimited. People always want more. There is hardly a person in the world who is completely satisfied with economic, cultural or political situation in her country. Sometimes these dreams have a solid background and reasons, because it is impossible to build a perfect society on the territory of a chosen country. Everyone dislikes something about his native country and wants to change these disadvantages. As I speak about myself, I would rather say that I have a few ideas about this issue. I would change several things that exist in every country. When we speak about education in the USA, the UK, India or Russia, we would say that education is not a strong side of any country. People have not managed to create the ideal system of education that would help children develop their potential. In spite of the fact that such countries as the USA, the UK, Australia, Germany or France have solid material basis for education, the quality of education is still low. Very often students from the developing countries are able to compete with the US student who has graduated from the most expensive college or university. However, the material and financial background of his country is poor. Consequently, the problem is not money but the right approach towards children and education in general. I would like to make education affordable for everyone, because the level of literacy is still...

According to Alan Paller, “there are at least 100 countries actively doing cyber-espionage (M, 2010).” In the healthcare environment you have many people accessing and using the intranet system. The IT department has the job of monitoring and blocking excess from internet sites without security clearance or certificates out of date. Unknown to the IT department is that the staff can be trying to access these sites which are not allowed. This would put the healthcare organization at risk of scripts slipping in (M, 2010). these scripts are security breaches which are used to steal patient’s personal information. Anti-virus software programs are not looking for these scripts they are looking for files. These scripts can come from social media networks which staff may be accessing. According to Dave Meilek, “most of today’s threats are blended attacks propagated on legitimate sites like Google, Facebook, Yahoo!, and many others.” (M, 2010) Attacks can come through emails which have suspicious scripts attached that help them get into the system finding the crack in the network and software. To Do What You Have to

...Latin was the spoken and written language of the courts and commerce, as well as the language of the Christian church. As the Roman Empire expanded, Latin served as a common language that allowed for people of diverse linguistic backgrounds to be able to communicate. Latin, like other languages past and present, had more than one form and changed over time because it was both written and spoken, and the educational level or social status of the writer or speaker often determined the final form of the language. Latin was also influenced by local languages spoken or written within the larger territory under the influence of what later came to be known as the Roman Empire. During the Carolingian Renaissance, throughout the reign of Charlemagne and his successors, the development of Latin literacy was greatly promoted. Although reading and writing were skills that some people had, literacy was not widespread before that time. Literacy in Latin was generally limited to people of the upper classes and members of the clergy. Charlemagne invited Alcuin of York to become his personal tutor and the head of his court school. Charlemagne charged Alcuin with the development of a literacy curriculum for children that would provide for their instruction in reading and writing, as well as for further study in the liberal arts and theology, thereby also furthering the Christian teachings that Charlemagne’s court promoted. The promotion of literacy impacted education and language throughout......

...stories. Can you say the same? Maybe not, maybe yes. Either way it goes let's imagine it can together. I remember the first time I tried my grandmother's Rice pudding. The memory is still fresh on my mind. The rice was sticky and creamy, raisins were ripe and perky, and the smell of the cinnamon indulged my senses, with each and every waking bite the pudding did a tantalizing salsa dance on my tongue that I will never forget. The very next day I asked my grandma can she teach me how to make her rice pudding, at first she was reluctant but eventually she gave in. The most important lesson that my grandma taught me, was in order to make this pudding successful, the rice had to be just right (no Uncle Ben's) this was drilled in my head over a dozen one times, no excuses. "Today as I stand over a bowl of cold water and rice, scrubbing, (Dash, 140) I felt a strong presence watching over me just like Dash felt when her Aunt Gertie was watching over her.
